The best song from an amazing album, Me. I Am Mariah (The Elusive Chanteuse) This song immediately got my attention when I first heard it and I still listen to it daily. It contains some of the most biting Mariah lyrics since CLOWN.
Acapella:
EPIC Performance:

It's a bit surprising that this is your favorite song off the entire album, but hey different strokes... This song is a BOP for sure so stan sis! I like the beat and the shade thrown at Nick.
The live performances were awesome, indeed, cuz she belted out "Oh you're thirstay! OH you're thirsty!!!" in the intro.

This is one of my favorites from "MIAM". The only thing I would change is the bridge. The "Boss now" part. It kind of builds to nothing. I guess I just don't care for that part and wish they had added in another chorus or something. Even with that I still love the song and wish it had been released along with the "Butterfly water" campaign???? I remember they made a big deal about it but then nothing. It came out in Walgreens with no notice basically. LoL

WEAK. The worst song on the album IMO and completely out of place on an otherwise mature record. The production just doesn't pop and the chorus drraaaaggggs.

Yuck. I never want songs like this from her again. LOL, Agreed, I didn't like it as much as the others. This song was like "Did I Do That?" part 2.

I think I liked this more back then than I do now, but I can’t lie, this was one of my favorites from that era.

Not my favorite off the album, but it’s solid. It actually has a nice melody and in general is a well-constructed song. The live performances were epic and took this to another level for me.

I love the vocal arrangement and even though the production was a bit dated, I love how she went off!

The song does stick out a bit on the album, but it's still a jam. Maybe if it had been placed in a different spot on the album? Still, I think the general point of MIAM was to be a retrospective of R&B music in Mariah's lifespan, and this adds to that theme.

I love the vocal arrangement and even though the production was a bit dated, I love how she went off! How was the production dated? It was similar to the production on ***** in Paris which was released a year earlier, right?

Of course “Thirsty” was originally intended for an album with an earlier release than happened. Also, the entire thematic point of MIAM (in addition to being about a marriage in trouble) was to be a review of R&B music during Mariah’s lifespan. To that end the songs being ‘dated’ was part of the point.

In fact, I felt it would have fit right in at Urban!

still love it just as much. King of reiterating your love for something on a regular basis. Stan hard or go home. ---- I love the production on this, it's fun and I bugged out to it a few times, and it definitely stands out on the album. But I'm not sure the last part of that statement is a good thing.

In fact, I felt it would have fit right in at Urban! Well, I’ve never been one for caring if something is “dated” anyway, other than its relevance to something being a single. But, yeah, really the only thing people can point to with “Thirsty” being dated is “NIP,” and I don’t see how one song can make something dated (as in “NIP” isn’t a trend in and of itself). But really, at one point Mariah said as a body of work MIAM would be fitting as her last album. When I listened to the album, that really struck me because the album does play like a review of R&B over Mariah’s lifetime. It has disco, Motown/girl groups, old-school R&B, hip-hop, gospel, 2000s R&B, and then 2010s R&B. To me that gives the album real creative heft because in general the album is Mariah looking back on both her marriage, but also music as a whole and how that’s actually been the love of her life. To that end “Dedicated” is the cornerstone of the album since it’s a literal f*ck letter to hip-hop.

My favorite part is that you're right there with me every step of the way, always there when I call, always on time. And I wouldn't have it any other way! jenglisbe I think I just dislike the term "dated" all together, it has a negative connotation to me.

This was the worst song on the album. Totally, agreed. It's A Wrap ft. Mary J. should have definitely taken its place.

This was the worst song on the album. Totally, agreed. It's A Wrap ft. Mary J. should have definitely taken its place. This song was already on Memoirs and Mary basically added nothing to the song except tone deaf, hoarse vocals. I love Thirsty, but this has moved to #2 on my favorite songs from the album, Dedicated is number one now.
