This Girl in top 50! And My Way debuts! Cold Water top 30! Hymn For The Weekend and Closer top 25! Kinda sad to see The Sound Of Silence probably peaking but it's bound to happen with how old it is and how long ago. Hopefully Sucker For Pain, Gold, and Mama Said haven't peaked. And more importantly, Heathens gets its second week at the summit! Nice chart as always!

Thanks to everyone who commented on last week's chart! Again, this week and last week are probably going to be two of the busiest weeks of 2016, so I don't really have time to reply to everyone one by one. But I'm glad it seems that almost everyone likes/loves most of my top 5, especially Heathens at #1 I'm still very busy, but I'm just going to take 5-10 minutes off to write an incredibly brief update: This is my first time talking about Starboy here on Pulse, and I have to say, it's one of my favorite songs released in 2016. Like literally Stressed Out (though it was released in 2015)/ ITAPII/ DLMD/ Peter Pan level. It's looking for a high debut on my chart this week and is headed for that #1! But there are other contenders over the next few weeks as well: Heathens, Sit Still, Look Pretty (album release is gonna push it), and Starving (video release is gonna push it) that may prevent The Weeknd from taking back the longest week at #1 title from Peter Pan after it took the title away from The Hills recently. It's gonna be a heated 4 way competition soon, though Heathens is looking to get a 4th week this week. This is gonna be so interesting! (this kinda reminds me of the The Hills - Stitches - Wildest Dreams rivalry last year, though this year has four songs)! I'm also really excited for what the 2016 YE chart on my chart has to offer. Since I started my point system in April 2016, I have to use some complicated calculation to account for the non-pointed weeks from January to March (my YE tracking period goes from January to December, and I also make a mid-year year end chart from June to May). One song seems set for #1 (not gonna reveal it here, but some of you probably already know judging from following my chart for awhile :) ), but it looks as if the #2 through #6 positions are all gonna be super close! Also, interestingly, all #1's on my chart this year, other than Adele's Hello, haven't hit #1 on the BB Hot 100, while a significant proportion of my #1s in 2015 have hit #1 on the BB Charts. But The Weeknd's Starboy might actually break this trend! I'm taking the SAT this Saturday... it's gonna be so stressful... But hey, at least I'll be done with it soon! Like last week, I probably only have time to post the video, but the official charts will continue next week! Hopefully my life won't be as stressful as it is now! Of course, there's still gonna be other things going on in life (stressful classes, rough social relationships, and the ambiguous relationship with my crush), but since I don't have to worry about the 9 hour SAT prep class every week, hopefully it'll give me more time and help alleviate my stress. I'm hopeful that the final quarter of the year is gonna be better than the recent times :) Tags: @markg94 Leo ✔ Ice Cream 15 (Broccoli 2018) MTSChart21 Sambalada georgetherunner314 bboat11 fearlessarrow Mr. Thonk Eyes .indulgecountry awesomecharts Anyone else want to be tagged or untagged, just tell me and I'll tag or untag you.[/font]

oh and it's funny it's the same thing on my chart that barely any #1's on my chart this year are #1 on the Hot 100 too XD (besides Hello, there was Panda for one week and currently Closer, but for the most part it's been others. though all my #1's except Starving did reach the top 10 on the Hot 100 so there's that) but I guess that's kinda a good thing because it means my chart doesn't look almost identical to the Hot 100 this year as it has sometimes before XD and we've also had some common #1's on our two charts this year :) (Stressed Out, ITAPII, Heathens) so that's pretty awesome too!

twenty one pilots (4) Chicken077's Personal Chart - Week 94 (October 1, 2016)
So I finally got done with my SAT. I didn't feel too good about it tbh... it was one of the harder ones I took compared with the practice tests. But I do have a tendency to underestimate my performance on these standardized tests, so hopefully I won't have to retake this test.
Just a few more updates:
I still have a lot of school work to finish up, so still have no time to post an official chart, which should return next week. But this week was quite interesting. Starboy debuts at #6, which might seem like a low position when comparing with its debut position on many other personal charts. But songs tend to have longer periods of upward motion on my chart so most songs actually debut out of the top 50, making Starboy just the 3rd song to debut in the top 10 in the 94-week history of my chart (except for the top 10 on week 1), the first two being The Weeknd's own Can't Feel My Face, which debuted at #3 in late June 2015, and Meghan Trainor's No, which debuted at #4 in late March 2016, on the week my point system started (honestly, the song wouldn't have debuted in the top 10 if I started my point system a week before the week it debuted...). Of these two, the former proved to be a super-longevity song, scoring 2 weeks at #1 and 20 weeks in the top 10, and is still lurking around in the bottom 50. The latter dropped off quickly and is already out of my chart. I'm pretty sure Starboy will be more similar to CFMF than No, and it's looking to do some awesome things on my chart over the next months!
Also notable, the first #1 on my chart, Take Me To Church, which scored 5 weeks at #1 from December 2014 to January 2015 (weeks 1-5 on my chart), dropped out this week with 93 weeks in its bag. No words... RIP TMTC... you will be remembered as the forever inaugural #1 and one of the reasons why I even started my chart in the first place...

Starboy with a solid top 10 debut! Starving hits a new peak! And Heathens at #1 for a fourth week! Also, glad to see This Girl and Cold Water still moving up, ITNOL in top 50, and My Way top 40. Closer hits top 20 and HFTW comes just so close! Also, Say It reenters the chart! Good luck on your SAT result. I remember I took the old SAT once and did pretty awful (especially on the critical reading), but the new SAT was much easier especially since half of your score is the math section which is my best and favorite subject! ACT is definitely not cut out for me since I'm quite the slow test-taker.

YES!!!!!!!! I love seeing "Forever Country" debut, and the fact that it is almost in the top 30 is just AWESOME!!!!! Also, I am like fangirling hard right now simply because you chose a snippet of the video that had Martina singing in it Edit: Well, I am thrilled George Strait is in the clip too, as he is also my favorite male country singer. But Martina has never been as recognized as he has, so it is just like extra special seeing her :)

Thanks to everyone wishing me luck on the SAT and hoping the best for me! With the community at my school not truly supporting me, its really warming to have the Pulse community here to fulfill that role! And I'm also glad to see that so much of you are liking the top ends of my chart. It seems that Heathens is one of my most popular #1s and the up and coming songs, Starving and Starboy, are also really popular! That being said, I thought I'd be a bit freer this week. But there's so much stuff going on right now. I have been struggling in my music theory class ever since we got into diatonic chords and harmonic 4-part analysis two weeks back (I really don't get how the bass note can determine the entire chord structure), and even a bit in physics (well, I just felt like I did horrible on the physics exam, but we didn't get our scores back, so hopefully I underestimated myself) when science is usually my strongest subject. It seemed that this year is really gonna be the ultimate challenge for me. Also, I was planning this whole time to ask my crush out tomorrow, but I guess it's not happening since we're both too busy and honestly I'm still a bit scared to do it at this moment. I mean, it's gonna happen someday, I really should just face it and get it over with. I know, I'm a procrastinator...ugh... This week, however, I will be back formally posting my charts and not just the videos. Now that I'm done ranting about life, I'm thinking of bringing back my mid-week updates. I'm still a bit busy today, so I only have time for top 5 (which is actually where all the excitement is), but hopefully I'll have time to improve on this in the future. Although it's not really mid-week as my tracking period ends today, but at least I have more data to play with now so this update will probably be a bit more accurate! So this week's top 5 will be a mess. Here's my attempt at trying to analyze it: The thing is, Starboy was released so suddenly and is gaining so rapidly that it is hindering the growth of other top songs. This has happened before on my chart ( Can't Feel My Face messing up virtually every song in that era other than Shut Up And Dance, and earlier this year, Out Of The Woods sorta led to the downfall of the The Hills- Stitches- Wildest Dreams dominance, though that was about to happen anyway). This time, it seems that the effects are actually greater than almost all the previous incidents (maybe except the CFMF incident, guess The Weeknd really slays on my chart). Heathens was approaching its peak, and with the drop of Starboy, it really seems that the 21p song is losing faster than expected, with significant drops in performance this week. Sit Still, Look Pretty was still gaining a bit and was hence less effected by Starboy, but still lost a bit in points this week when it was supposed to gain. Daya's album drop is tomorrow, so that might boost this song's performance next week. Then we have Starving, which was surging at the time Starboy dropped. While it was supposed to surge this week, it effectively plateaued due to The Weeknd, with just slight gains in points. Finally, Peter Pan. This is where it gets really interesting. Peter Pan recently peaked in points and is starting to lose in points. Since it is already on a downward trajectory unlike the other members of the top 5, it didn't get affected by Starboy quite as much as the other songs. I mean its loss in points was still accelerated a bit, but less worse than Sit Still, Look Pretty and especially Heathens. And because Starving's gains were considerably slower due to The Weeknd, it finds difficulty passing Kelsea. In the end, Heathens, Sit Still, Look Pretty, Starboy, all have a good chance of taking that #1 this week, but there is a potential chance for Starving, and even a 1-2% off-chance of Peter Pan capitalizing on all of this and getting its 10th week at #1. I only did rough calculations, and it seems that the top 5 is so close that rough calculations wouldn't do for determining #1. I'm excited to see which song will take that top position this week! I have been struggling in my music theory class ever since we got into diatonic chords and harmonic 4-part analysis two weeks back (I really don't get how the bass note can determine the entire chord structure) Honestly, it all relates to the pyramid of sound. Have you guys talked about that at all? In an ensemble, your ideal sound would be shaped like a pyramid. In other words, you have your tubas, bass clarinets, bari saxes, bassoons, bass trombones, etc. all forming a solid foundation upon which everything else sits. Middle instruments such as trombones/euphoniums/tenor saxes/alto clarinets, etc. form the next layer, adding a bit of color to the middle. Next comes alto saxes, clarinets, trumpets, etc. who are also providing color, just not quite as strongly. And to top it all off you get flutes, piccolos, oboes, etc. who are like the cherry on top of everything. When that sound is out of balance, you just do not sound as good. Especially if you have a wall of flutes and cannot hear the bass instruments at all, which happens super often... Lol! The same basic sound principle applies to chords. Imagine a basic C major chord. If you put the trumpets on the C and the tubas on the 5th (G), it would sound super jumbled and weird because the 5th is being played LOWER than the root. If you switch them so the tubas are playing a C and the trumpets are playing an E, suddenly it sounds good. It basically all comes down to the physics of sounds. Lower sounds have longer wavelengths, while higher sounds have really small wavelengths, so the lower sounds naturally travel further. Low notes just sound more resonant and robust to our ears, and they add the most depth and color to chords, so it just makes sense to classify the chord based on the bass note. As pointed out above, if another interval of the chord is played by a low instrument while the root is played by a higher instrument, the whole thing just sounds super out-of-whack because the root suddenly has less resonance than whatever interval is being played by the bass instrument. And of course, it relates to the notes themselves more-so than the instrument being used. For example, an alto sax playing low could play the root of a chord and a bari sax playing high could play the 5th, and it would sound perfectly normal despite the fact that the bari is a bass instrument. The important thing is that the 5th be higher than the root, because the root automatically sounds prominent to our ears. Since the root sounds so prominent, it just makes sense to use it to define a chord structure, while the other notes in the chord are used to define the type of chord (major, minor, mixolydian, pentatonic, etc.) because they add different colors to the chord depending on what the other notes are. Haha hopefully some of that made sense... And there may be a simpler answer, but I think I got at least part of it right :) The simple answer would just be that the bass notes SOUND prominent, so it is easiest to use them to define the chord! Lol

Congrats to Daya, but I was kinda hoping Heathens could get a 5th week at #1 but it looks like it won't happen now hha Go Starboy!!!!!!!!! Also GREAT to see lmly and ihu,ilu jump into the top 50, two of my top songs ATM (especially the latter) Also yay for This Girl climbing into top 40, Cold Water reaching top 25, and Closer jumping into top 15; I really hope Closer will be a top ten (or perhaps even #1) really soon! Nice debut for 24k Magic! I find it FAR inferior to Uptown Funk but it's still good and catchy! I hope it can become a decent hit on here too :) Great chart as always!

Daya (2) Chicken077's Personal Chart - Week 96 (October 15, 2016)
Life is still pretty hectic, but I finally have time to do just a relatively short chart narrative!
So Daya's Sit Still, Look Pretty (19th week in top 10) managed to fend of The Weeknd and Daft Punk's Starboy (4th week in top 10 and top 100!) for a second week at #1, but it was very very close. The two songs were just 25 points of each other, making them the closest the top 2 has been since I Took A Pill In Ibiza led Don't Let Me Down by a mere 10 points on its last week at #1. Daya's album release really gave SSLP a boost that allowed it to score another week at #1, but that means Starboy is almost guaranteed #1 next week!
The top 10 is relatively static this week, with no new entries into the region for two consecutive weeks, just the second time that ever happened on my chart, the first time being 7/4/2015 and 7/11/2015. Most positions are also static as well, with the largest movement being +1/-1. Peter Pan is pushed back to #3 on its 18th week in the top 10, Heathens holds steady at #4 on its 9th week in the top 10 after scoring 4 weeks at #1, Starving continues to gain in points but is still closing the point gap with the top 4, holding at #5 with 5 weeks in the top 10, former 4 week #1 Don't Let Me Down holds a #6 position on its 29th week in the top 10 (almost 30 weeks!), former #2 Dibs hold #7 for a 3rd week and scores a 27th week in the top 10 (and if it makes 30 weeks, it'll become the first non-#1 to score 30 weeks in the top 10!), Hailee Steinfeld's former #5 Rock Bottom holds at #8 with 11 weeks in the top 10, Mike Posner's 5 week #1 hit I Took A Pill In Ibiza continues its super slow fall, but due to losses by We Don't Talk Anymore, it actually picked up to #9 on its 28th week in the top 10. WDTA subsequently drops to #10 with 5 weeks in the top 10.
Under the top 10, Gold holds at #12 on its 12th week with a peak of #12. But its top 10 status is put under pressure by The Chainsmokers and Halsey's collab Closer, closing in (pun intended) to #13, and Coldplay's Hymn For The Weekend, surging to #14. The former is slowing down a bit, so the real threat comes from HFTW. It'll be a tough competition for all 3 songs in entering the top 10 over the next few weeks.
It finally seems as if I have accepted that 2015 is part of the past and we'll never go back to it again. It was such a great year for me personally and for music that for the past 9.5 months of 2016, I never truly accepted that the awesome year was over, and hence I was still kinda living in 2015. Idk why, I feel that I've finally accepted that I need to move on to 2016 and beyond, and hopefully 2017 will be better. So that's why lots of 2015 songs (both 2015 peaking and 2015 released) kinda tumbled this week. Almost all of these songs took considerable hits, and the 40s are now full of those sorta old songs that I've been holding on just because I loved 2015 so much. Blank Space, the first #3 on my chart, also falls off this week. This leaves just 2 songs that have been on since Week 1: Shut Up And Dance at #95 and the flashback song Shattered (Turn The Car Around) at #58. Of course, MKTO's American Dream was on the chart at week 1 but dropped out of the chart for a few weeks before growing back on me, so I won't count that.
Also, with week 100 approaching, I will be compiling and posting the top 200 songs of weeks 1 - 100 (December 2014 to November 2016) during Thanksgiving Break. I guess that can kinda be a tribute to all the awesome 2015 songs I'm finally letting go as well as the 2016 songs that kinda got hindered as a result. I made a trailer for it, enjoy!
Now back to work lmao.
EDIT: I just realized lol, that I accidentally edited my post for last week's chart instead of making a new post when originally posting this, so this is actually my second time posting this lol. Oh well, I didn't have much of a chart narrative last week anyway. I'll just delete everything and leave the video for last week's post (unless there's a way to recover edited posts lol)

So this week I actually have time to post a midweek update. As the first half of first semester ends at my school, I feel that I'm more used to this new pacing and I'm starting to use my lunch and free periods properly. I mean life is still pretty stressful, but at least I have time to post a bit more on Pulse. The chart this week will be pretty interesting, though static. Starboy is almost guaranteed #1 this week, but the #2 through #5 positions will be very close. Sit Still, Look Pretty looses most of its points gained from the album boost, so it should make a larger fall. Peter Pan continues to lose in points, though negligibly, so it should be able to hang onto the top 3. Similar case with Heathens - its losses in points are a bit faster than Peter Pan though still relatively slow. It does face competition from Starving, however, which spent its last few weeks closing the point gap between Don't Let Me Down and the rest of the top 4. This week, it has the opportunity to pass Heathens, though Peter Pan is a bit of a stretch. Nevertheless, SSLP, Peter Pan, Heathens, and Starving are in close competition for the rest of the top 5. And I totally seeing the top 5 being a deadlock of these five songs for a time. And given Starboy is so far away from the rest of the top 5 and is still gaining quickly, I don't see this song being vulnerable to actually any song, at least at this very moment. So expect this to be a very strong run at #1! (but that's bad news for Starving... it looks like it's gonna get blocked from #1 by Starboy...) The rest of the top 10 are actually in a deadlock as well. Especially Don't Let Me Down and Dibs, both songs losing points negligibly (as the former scores 30 weeks at #1 and the latter approaches it!), but there's another huge gap in points between these two songs and the rest of the chart. We Don't Talk Anymore gets a random boost in points this week so it should save its top 10 run, at least for this week. Rock Bottom is also proving to be a trooper and refusing to exit the top 10. I Took A Pill In Ibiza is also continuing its slow point drop, but WDTA's random point boost might prove fatal to ITAPII's run in the top 10 as it faces stark competition from Gold and Closer. Hymn For The Weekend, though I predicted to be a threat, suddenly slowed down this week, causing me to rethink its status. But if WDTA loses its random boost in points, HFTW might still have a chance. So yeah, in summary, my chart these days is pretty much a deadlock of the top 10. With no new strong songs rising the charts (except maybe This Girl, False Alarm, and 24k Magic among a few others), I definitely don't see the top 10 changing dramatically over the next few weeks. So expect DLMD and maybe even Dibs to not only reach 30 weeks in the top 10, but maybe even higher records? And also expect the current top 5 to dominate the charts for the next month... unless something suddenly happens... which we'll never know. Hey, there was a deadlock back in April of Stressed Out, My House, and 7 Years, but ITAPII managed to break it. Maybe something similar will happen? I also see this really similar to that top 3 domination a year ago with The Hills, Stitches, and Wildest Dreams. All Time Weeks 1-100 Chart Update:So this week I started calculating points for top 200 songs of weeks 1 - 100. Since I didn't have a point system prior to April 2016, I'm actually completely altering the point system I'm using for this cumulative chart. I'll be using a point system that depends on the chart run as well as the era the song is from (different eras get different point distributions for different weeks and ranks). Past week 68, I will be converting the existing point system I have to this cumulative point system I used for the first 67 weeks. I mean, it's the best I can do that doesn't involve digging through tons of data from the first 67 weeks on my chart and calculating points for each one of them aka 6700 calculations (rip me if I had to do that lol)... and after assigning points to a few songs, I find that it is quite accurate! At least it's better than arbitrarily assigning positions like I did in all the previous year end charts (and tbh that made me miss a few songs...). Also, I implemented a mock recurrent rule. Since there are those super longevity songs on my chart that last 70+ weeks, I still want to give the songs that last 40-60 weeks a chance to challenge them (since many of the 70+ week chart runs resulted in the fact that I simply didn't want to let go of 2015 songs so I left those songs in the bottom 50 and made them drop insanely slowly). As a preliminary plan: 1. Any week for a song after week 26 that's in the bottom 50 of the chart will get 3/4 the amount of points it's supposed to get unless it receives a bullet. 2. Any week for a song after week 52 that's in the bottom 50 of the chart will get a half the amount of points it's supposed to get unless it receives a bullet. 3. Any week for a song after week 70 that's in the bottom 50 will get 1/4 the amount of points it's supposed to get regardless of a bullet. Additionally, songs with more than 70 weeks in #26-50 will get a half the amount of points its supposed to receive unless it gets a bullet. If this turns out to be messing up my calculations, I might change the fraction of points the song receives, but the point is, songs that debuted on week 1 (2015 songs generally last longer than 2016 songs) will not be given an insane advantage over songs like Wildest Dreams, Stressed Out, Dibs, My House, DLMD, etc. that didn't last as long on the chart simply because 1) longevity's just better as a whole in 2015 and 2) lots of 2015 songs charted in 2016 since I artificially put them there because I didn't want to let go. I mean, if I don't have a rule like this, literally the top 20 or so will be like 2015 songs, and #21 will be Stressed Out or Wildest Dreams, and I simply don't think that's fair. Certainly, Stressed Out and Wildest Dreams are more important to my lives in these years than, say, Talking Body (nothing against that song lol, I still love it). Feel free to disagree and comment to tell me if you think this mock recurrent rule is unfair and I'll consider whatever you guys have to say (unlike BB lmao). I don't think, however, I will implement a specific recurrent rule on my weekly charts, since I don't think this 100+ week dominance will be extremely rare for future songs (maybe a song or two?). It's just that 2015 was way too important for me... In future all time charts, I'll probably handle these super-songs on a case by case basis and see what I can do at that point. For now, to simplify this process, a mock recurrent rule is, imo, the fairest given the amount of stress I'm dealing with now. Just listened to "Sit Still, Look Pretty". It's pretty good, but it felt a little repetitive in the chorus. Still, Daya seems like someone worth checking out more! Although the way she pronounces things drives me crazy... I have also been watching your top 50 video for like 4 weeks now, just to try to culture myself ;) (And to see if "Infinite Love" entered the top 50 yet, since you haven't posted a chart since it debuted!) I pretty much know none of the songs except for the Kelsea Ballerini ones, so I am learning a lot! So far I haven't liked anything enough to consider charting it, but I will say that Rachel Platten seems to have caught my attention the most as an artist from your videos, as well as Hailee Steinfeld. Lastly, OMG the trailer you made for your top 200 list is super EPIC!!!!! I am left wanting more, despite not recognizing anyone except Kelsea and Maddie & Tae!!! Consider me excited!

Great to see ITNOL and LMLY enter the top 40 I hope i hate u, I love u can join them next week! :) LOL all of Gold's stats are 12 XD Yay for False Alarm! :) and happy for Starboy, I hope you're right and it's the next #1! But I also hope you're wrong about it blocking Starving, but a #2 peak for Starving would still be quite high nonetheless :) and it'll be funny to see the top 2 songs both have titles starting with "Star" Amazing longevity for ITAPII! It looks like it could be in danger of falling out of both of our top tens really soon :( but it had an excellent run anyway! And it's definitely worth it for me if Closer is entering your top ten in its place as that's one of my favorite songs of this year now Can't wait until next week to see if Starboy gets that #1! great chart as always!

The Weeknd f/ Daft Punk (1) Chicken077's Personal Chart - Week 97 (October 22, 2016)
Thanks to everyone who commented last week! It really seems that the songs at the top of my chart/rising on my chart are pretty popular recently! The top songs are also scoring record points since I began implementing my point system. And if I had a point system back then, this week's #1 would probably be able to challenge the top 3 in the Take Me To Church-Boom Clap-Blank Space era on the first weeks of my chart, or Fight Song-Shut Up And Dance-Can't Feel My Face in early summer 2015, or even The Hills-Stitches-Wildest Dreams a year ago (you may see me refer to lots of previous eras over the next few weeks... mainly because I'm calculating points for that weeks 1 - 100 chart and I'm really seeing some big trends my chart has been going through over these past 100 weeks). Hopefully this is signifying for an awesome 2017 to come!
The Weeknd and Daft Punk's collab Starboy easily destroys the rest of the top 5 for #1, with a 2500 points lead over the rest of the top 5 (which came within 750 points of one another... Yes, the difference between #1 and #2 is more than 3x larger than that of #2 and #5). Starboy, despite looking to slow down a bit compared with the past few weeks and this week, it is not seeing signs of slowing further and is looking to dominate the chart for a while (can it beat Peter Pan's most weeks at #1 record by becoming the first song on my chart to score double digit weeks at #1?). In addition, Starboy becomes Daft Punk's first number 1 and The Weeknd's third, making The Weeknd just the second artist on my chart to score three songs at #1, the other being Taylor Swift with Style, Wildest Dreams, and Out Of The Woods. The Weeknd also ties with Taylor Swift for the the most weeks at #1 for an artist (both artists scored 11 weeks at #1: Taylor had 7(Style)+3(Wildest Dreams)+1(Out Of The Woods), and The Weeknd 2(Can't Feel My Face)+8(The Hills)+1(Starboy)). Given that Starboy remains essentially unchallenged, The Weeknd is likely to take over Taylor Swift on this record next week.
Sadly, the rest of the top 5 have little to no chance at challenging Starboy over the next few months. Kelsea Ballerini's former 9 week #1 Peter Pan rebounds 3 - 2 as aided by slight streaming gains to compensate for loses on the charts. But more notably, with Starboy hitting #1, Peter Pan becomes #2 under four different songs: Don't Let Me Down, Heathens, Sit Still, Look Pretty, and Starboy. I don't have an official chart record, but if I recall correctly, this is a new record (though it's a weird one)! Many songs prior to Peter Pan was under 3 different songs, but I believe Peter Pan is the first to make 4.
Heathens also rebounds 4 - 3 despite losing a negligible amount of points. Under twenty one pilots, Hailee Steinfeld, Grey, and Zedd's Starving returns to its peak 5 - 4 as it continues to surge all across the board. It barely missed passing Heathens this week and next week, it'll certainly enter top 3 and perhaps top 2 (unless something crazy happens). But again, unless it gets a crazy boost, I don't see it hitting the summit. Starboy is gaining faster than it, and even if Starving starts gaining faster, it still has a 3k point gap to close. And by then, new songs will probably be at the region. And that's assuming that Starving will last longer than Starboy. But regardless, Starving is going to be a super strong "pseudo-#1" and is going to score high on the June 2016-May 2017 chart (it debuted too late in 2016 to score too high on that one... but still has a chance of doing great). Daya's Sit Still, Look Pretty tumbles 1 - 5 after the album craze, but truly, it didn't loose too many points, so this will still hang around in the region for a while. Also, it sets the record for the biggest drop from #1 with a 4-position drop to #5. The previous record was actually set just three weeks ago when Heathens dropped 3 positions 1 - 4, but for some reason I didn't realize it was a new record lol. Prior to Heathens, many songs dropped 1 - 3, and I wouldn't count that a record. Wow, so many records set or tied this week!
Don't Let Me Down holds at #6 with a negligible point loss, but more notably, it becomes just the 6th song on my chart's 97 week history to score 30 or more weeks in the top 10:
TAYLOR SWIFT - STYLE (38 weeks in top 10: 1/24/2015 - 8/8/2015, 12/5/2015 - 1/30/2016) FLO RIDA - MY HOUSE (36 weeks in top 10: 11/21/2015 - 7/23/2016 - longest cumulative top 10 run) TWENTY ONE PILOTS - STRESSED OUT (34 weeks in top 10: 12/26/2015 - 8/6/2016, 9/3/2016) HOZIER - TAKE ME TO CHURCH (32 weeks in top 10: 12/20/2014 - 7/25/2015) SHAWN MENDES - STITCHES (30 weeks in top 10: 7/25/2015 - 2/13/2016) THE CHAINSMOKERS F/ DAYA - DON'T LET ME DOWN (30 weeks in top 10: 4/2/2016 - Still in top 10)
Congrats to The Chainsmokers and Daya! More on this song and it's fate over the next few weeks to come... But for now, Kelsea Ballerini's former #2 and breakout single Dibs follows a similar trajectory as DLMD, holding at #7 with 28 weeks in the top 10. Just two more weeks for it before it becomes the 7th song to score 30 weeks!
20-29 weeks in top 10: THE WEEKND - THE HILLS (29 weeks in top 10: 8/1/2015 - 2/13/2016) MIKE POSNER - I TOOK A PILL IN IBIZA (28 weeks in top 10: 3/26/2016 - 9/10/2016, 10/1/2016 - 10/15/2016) KELSEA BALLERINI - DIBS (28 weeks in top 10: 1/16/2016 - 2/27/2016, 6/4/2016 - Still in top 10) TAYLOR SWIFT - WILDEST DREAMS (27 weeks in top 10: 9/12/2015 - 3/12/2016) WALK THE MOON - SHUT UP AND DANCE (26 weeks in top 10: 4/4/2015 - 9/26/2015) MKTO - AMERICAN DREAM (23 weeks in top 10: 2/21/2015 - 7/25/2015) RACHEL PLATTEN - FIGHT SONG (22 weeks in top 10: 5/9/2015 - 10/3/2015) ED SHEERAN - PHOTOGRAPH (21 weeks in top 10: 6/6/2015, 8/1/2015 - 12/12/2015) PHOEBE RYAN - MINE (21 weeks in top 10: 11/14/2015 - 11/21/2015, 12/5/2015 - 1/16/2016, 3/26/2016 - 6/11/2016) THE WEEKND - CAN'T FEEL MY FACE (20 weeks in top 10: 6/27/2015 - 11/7/2015) DAYA - SIT STILL, LOOK PRETTY (20 weeks in top 10: 5/21/2016 - 7/23/2016, 8/20/2016 - Still in top 10)
Hailee Steinfeld and DNCE's collab Rock Bottom holds at #8 with a bit of point losses and maintains a 12th week in the top 10. Under Hailee is our sole top 10 entry this week at #9: The Chainsmokers' major mainstream smash, Closer, featuring Halsey. This song really grew on me over the past few weeks, and although I still prefer DLMD by a ton, Closer is still an awesome song and is looking to do some damage as soon as the video comes out this Monday (which also happens to be Daya's 18th birthday! Happy birthday to her! Congrats on officially being an adult!!)
Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez's We Don't Talk Anymore picks up a bit more traction to maintain a #10 position and fend of I Took A Pill In Ibiza, which, sadly, drops 9 - 11 out of the top 10. WDTA is getting a bit of a second wind here, though the only damage I see it doing is fending off Gold and Hymn For The Weekend from the top 10 and ITAPII from 30 weeks in top 10 (all very sad...). As soon as 24k Magic and False Alarm picks up, this song is done.
So with this stranglehold of the top 5/10 right now and Gold/HFTW likely peaking in points this week, these two don't have too much of a chance at top 10, sadly. Under them, however, three songs in the top 30 are looking to challenge the top 10: Bruno Mars's return 24k Magic, Kungs's This Girl (despite losing a ton in the mainstream - it needs to somehow fend off that), and The Weeknd's unique but absolutely awesome second single False Alarm. So here's the thing: even if all three hits top 10, logically, the songs that get kicked out are WDTA, Rock Bottom, and Dibs, in that order. But that leaves DLMD still barely clinging on with no major challenge. And that's given that songs like Closer, Heathens, SSLP, or Peter Pan don't suddenly stop losing, and there's always a chance of that. So guess what, it looks like as long as DLMD doesn't lose too much, it might actually be coming for that Style record! I think it's too early to call, but it's just a gist feeling I have right now. Unless...
Debuts this week are actually pretty strong. Alan Walker's Sing Me To Sleep runs away with hot shot debut at #66. The song finally grew on me despite having peaked on most people's personal charts already. But hey, better late than never. Maroon 5's return Don't Wanna Know featuring Kendrick Lamar debuts at #75, and despite being far from their best, I guess it's kinda a guilty pleasure of mine. Zedd and Grey's other collab and Jillboard's intro song Adrenaline debuts at #93 after hearing it on George's video last week (I didn't even realize it was an actual song prior lol). D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty returns with Broccoli, which is growing on me again. Shawn Mendes's Mercy debuts at #94, and I actually quite like it and is looking for a pretty substantial run. Finally, Zara Larsson's Ain't My Fault debuts at #100 as it also hits the Billboard charts. A pretty strong set here! Can they challenge DLMD and kick it out before it reaches 38 weeks? We'll have to wait to find out...
With all these strong debuts, some stronger songs suffered casualties: Florida Georgia Line's H.O.L.Y. says goodbye after 24 weeks and a #25 peak. Tove Lo's Cool Girl, despite reentering last week, also makes it's dropout... for a second time. Calvin Harris and Rihanna's Billboard smash This Is What You Came For leaves after 22 weeks and a #47 peak. Charlie Puth's 8 week top 10 and former #6 One Call Away bows out after 46 weeks on the chart (Mark's probably really happy lol). Similarly, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's #11 collab I Know What You Did Last Summer bows out with 47 weeks. Finally, flashback song from 2014 Shower says goodbye one last time after it makes its return with a total of 31 weeks and a #31 peak. Though it failed to set a new peak, it came really close and this will definitely boost it on the Weeks 1 - 100 chart.
Starting next week, I'll be posting official charts again! I know I've said this multiple times and I haven't been doing it, I'll definitely be doing it next week! Especially with the year winding down and some really intense competition going on, I feel an official chart is necessary. So I'll definitely return with that next week! Until then, enjoy the video for this week!

Yes Starboy! 24kmagic with a nice gain. I think you made a mistake about the chainsmokers spending 30 weeks at number 1. You probably meant top 10. Great chart though.
