Here is an interview with Therese.
Swedish vocalist Therese, best known for her work with Dr. Alban and pop hits including "I Need Somebody," teamed up with legendary producer Stonebridge to create "Put 'em High." After hearing the song, the WMC 2004 anthem, all over Miami during the Winter Music Conference, I met Stonebridge who introduced me to the lovely Therese. Outside the National Hotel, she graciously answered a few questions.
DJ Ron Slomowicz: Congratulations on this fabulous record, I think I have heard it at every party this week. How are you feeling today?
Therese: I'm feeling so good- baby you wouldn't even know. We have the beach to the right, we have the pool to the left, and we get Stonebridge playing right now, he's off the hook.
RS: So how did you meet up with Stonebridge?
Therese: Stonebridge and I, we have a history going on for like three years.
We met, he listened to a demo track of mine and then, and he didn't even know it was me. He thought it was really good and was like 'who is this girl?' We got to meet and did some tracks together, broke it down, and the rest is history. It was destiny for us to meet and now we're like going through everything together.
RS: I know you from another song called "I Need Somebody." Was that done with Stonebridge as well?
Therese: Oh, no… Stonebridge hasn't anything to do with that title. That track is by a Swedish producer, Klas Baggström, he also made Victoria Beckam's latest and remixes for Moloko. He's pretty hot in Sweden, he's pretty hot in the UK as well right now, and he made that track.
RS: This new record is on Hed Kandi…
Therese: Yes, it is. This new single, "Put 'em High," is Stonebridge featuring Therese and is Stonebridge's first single for his forthcoming album. He's going to release it in June. I want to release my album on Hed Kandi too, so this is his first presentation of his album and it's featuring me. It's a kind of introduction for me too, my first single's going to be a song called "Time."
RS: Time?
Therese: Yes. Remember it dude, you've got to remember it though.
RS: Yes, I will definitely remember. So let me ask you this, you also mentioned you've stuff in the past on Universal Records…
Therese: Oh, yes.
RS: You done a whole album with them.
Therese: Yes, I did. I released an album called Acapulco, but it was a kind of a little secret release, you know what I'm saying? Because that record company was going down at that minute, at that time. So now we're about to record an new album and we're going to release it on Hed Kandi late summer or autumn, you never now. Well, you see, July is always autumn, you know what I'm saying? It's always three or four months late, you know what I'm saying? So, yes, but it's definitely going to be good though.
RS: So you've been here in Miami all week, right?
Therese: I have baby, and I'm not going home though. You know in Sweden we've got minus twenty-five degrees Celsius right now. Ah, you don't want to go there, I'm telling you, you want to stay here for sure, for sure.
RS: Have you been going out every night to the different clubs?
Therese: No, I haven't actually. I have some really good friends staying in Miami, they showed me around a little. I actually went to the basketball game yesterday, Miami Orlando played yesterday, it was really good. Miami kicked it down, they won the shit. So I am actually just chilling a little bit. You know you can't party like twenty-four hours, I mean we're only humans, right?
RS: Yes. Aside from Stonebridge, who is your favorite DJ?
Therese: My favorite DJ right now? I must tell you, always, it's been for the last two years, Deep Dish. Deep Dish.
RS: Deep Dish, wow. That just seems odd because…
Therese: I know baby but the thing is what I'm doing was what I'm doing but it's always been like that. But what I listen to, of course I listen to my own music but not all the time, it's not like I'm playing my album in the car all the time.
RS: Yes.
Therese: But I'm really, really down for Deep Dish, I love those guys.
RS: This week they have won for best compilation cd from both DanceStar and WMC IDMAs.
Therese: I know, I know. Back in Sweden, they were about to present an award and I met them backstage and I was saying, hey guys, congratulations on the award. They were like, we're not winning an award, we're going to present one. I was like oh, shit. So I was probably just thinking ahead congratulating them for the awards they were going to win in the future.
RS: Thank you so much. Anything you want to say to all the people out there?
Therese: Now, I want to say it like, don't do drugs, make hugs.
RS: That's great, and do you have a web site?
Therese: I have a web site, my official web site is right now
www.tretiak.nu. So if you want to see me, just visit the web site.
