Little Big Town's little experimental side-project with Pharrell is out now.

Shouldn't this be in the non radio stuff, or at least not in the country forum, since Little Big Town themselves has acknowledged this isn't really a country record and none of it will get released to country radio.
I've yet to listen to this as I don't exactly want too since "One Of Those Days" was atrocious but I might listen to this soon enough.

LOVE IT! I've been a huge LBT fan since The Road to Here. I'm happy they are having fun with their music. This may not be "Country", but its not pop either. Not sure what you would classify it. Their harmonies are amazing on this as usual and Karen's voice is superb with this style. Standouts for me are "One Dance", "The Boat", and "C'mon". If you are judging this strictly off of "One of Those Days" and arent' a fan, I suggest giving the album a once through listen. Might surprise you. They are sticking to country and the same producers, this was just a fun side project. I see no harm in it. :)

I like that they put out a fun side project. I like that they've made zero claims that it'd be country. I really like the idea of the project. I enjoy "One of Those Days" quite a bit. I wish I liked the rest of the album a tiny bit. The majority of it reminds of something from the 70's and not in a good way. Something here just isn't working for me. What it has done is make me anticipate their next album a lot more, so that's good, I guess.

Gave this a listen yesterday and... I wasn't totally put off by it, lol. I'm definitely a much bigger fan of their country work and I'm glad this is just a little one-off project for fans though, but some of the songs weren't half bad. It's nothing I'd be invested in buying but it's an interesting listen and I liked a few of the songs a fair bit. Really looking forward to their next country release though, for sure.

I'm not impressed.
"Miracle" is my favorite. I actually do love that one. "One Dance" and "Work" are also quite good. I go back and forth with "The Boat" but I'm leaning more towards liking it now. "C'mon" is intriguing, but I'm not sure how to feel about it. All that said, none of these songs are what I want to hear from Little Big Town. I haven't bought anything from the album yet (aside from "One Of Those Days" which I greatly regret) and I'm not sure I'm going to yet. I just kind of want to forget this album even exists lol.
The other songs are crap.
Final thoughts: They're better than this. Not a good album for their wonderful vocals and harmonies. I hate how their vocals/harmonies sound on some of the songs, and that is one thing I NEVER thought I would have to say about LBT. I hope they got the need to experiment out of their system and I hope they never work with Pharrell again. I greatly look forward to their next country album and them returning to their true sound.

Wait, since the band themselves admit this isn't country, shouldn't we move this or am I wrong here?

Wait, since the band themselves admit this isn't country, shouldn't we move this or am I wrong here? They're not releasing singles to pop radio either, so that argument is moot. They're a country band and they released a new EP... and the fact that isn't being promoted like a full-fledged pop release only makes it more logical for it to be here. I see absolutely nothing wrong with their being a listening party for it in this forum.

Wait, since the band themselves admit this isn't country, shouldn't we move this or am I wrong here? Well, since you have previously brought this up in the thread and it hasn't been moved, I'd say maybe the latter? Anyway, if you haven't already listened to this, you should. Might give you a new appreciation for Pain Killer lol.

Wait, since the band themselves admit this isn't country, shouldn't we move this or am I wrong here? It's a new album from a country group... So I see no problem discussing it here. Besides, if we put it anywhere else on Pulse, none of the country posters are even going to go find it to talk about it, but the non-country posters probably won't post about it either because it is a country group

Ok, I guess but then why did last year did Jon Pardi side project EP he released get moved when that was labeled country (also had a music video), I just thought Wanderlust was marketed as a pop album so that's why I was confused.
Also, about Pain Killer, still don't like it, sounded like an overproduced pop-rock album that was only saved by decent writing, and good harmonies ("Live Forever" "Day Drinking" and "Girl Crush" being the only good songs imo).

Ok, I guess but then why did last year did Jon Pardi side project EP he released get moved when that was labeled country Because that thread wasn't actually a listening party. The person who created it failed to provide a link to stream the EP, so it got moved to the artist discussion forum. A listening party thread needs a link so people can actually listen to the album or EP...without a link, it kind of defeats the purpose of a "listening party". If it doesn't have a link, then it's more than likely gonna get moved. Album threads go in the artist discussion forum, and a "listening party" thread without a link to listen to the album is just that -- an album thread, not a listening party.

C'mon is more "Country" than most things on country radio right now. That song has greatly grown on me and is now my favorite. :)

Willpower and Miracle are far and away my two favorites from this project. I'm glad they put strong emphasis on this just being a fun little project they did while just having fun.
