Something about it I love and just resonates with me to a deep level

The way you guys were talking about it was like it was awful. It was a good performance but nothing special. Compared to many of her contemporaries (who could never handle the sass, range, and energy needed), she did well. I think back to some of her earlier performances of Stronger.

The low post-chorus was really the only issue for me, but one I think they can solve (and one only hardcore fans who know the song will notice). I think Medicine will fare better on radio than Heat (but I’m super biased because I burned on Heat quickly and Medicine keeps rising higher as my favorite).

Y’all had me worried. Wtf, she nailed this.

The “translation” issue is almost solely because she lowered the key. This always takes some oomph out of a song. You can hear the difference in the two HQ Christmas Eve performances we got. The CB one sounds just as jubilant as the recorded version, while the other sounds just a bit lacking. And she really needs to move a bit more again, she’s never been so stiff.

But vocally she was perfect. Lowering a key is a little annoying to us fans, but that’s taking care of her voice. And because she does that, she still sounds that amazing, and others do not.

“Heat” is still better live, but this is as good, if not better, than just about any of her “Stronger” promo performances, vocally.

Vocally, she was fine but, for all intents and purposes, I still think Heat would’ve been the smarter choice for the second single.

And I will tell you - Kelly is my second favorite artist of all time behind Mariah... I used to come here in the early 2000's right after she won Idol, and man that "Breakaway" era was one of the most fun moments ever .... I had both my girls dominating the charts.... with that said, I absolutely love Kelly's album and "Medicine" is my favorite song on the album... I just want radio to play it =)

I watched The Voice performance again this morning and enjoyed it so much more than last night. I thought it was great this a.m.

Yeah, it’s totally grown on me. I miss the high belt in the bridge—it lacks a lunch by its sassy, fun and well done otherwise. I think her being so static on the stage is what’s getting us. I miss the little stomps, jumps and dancing in circles of Kelly-past. She’ll liven up a bit I think.

She needs to get rid of those platform high heels, and get back to bare feet. She's always static when she wears heels.

She sounded fine. Still #TeamMedicine. And she hasn't really had much physical energy in her performances since the Stronger era, so I'm not sure why people are suddenly upset over this?

Honestly, whether it's "Medicine" or "Heat" or whatever, I don't expect anything from this album to smash as a single. It's a quality body of work, but the masses aren't really checking for Kelly at this stage in her career, and album eras come and go so quickly in the streaming age. Imma just sit back and enjoy those glorious vocals and quality tunes. Any surprise smashes (à la "Piece By Piece") are just icing on the cake.

She says she's already been emailing with Craig Kallman at Atlantic about the next album, and while she's hesitant to talk about the direction because she's switched it up before, she says, "I think we're just going to go even deeper with the soulful pop. Now that people know we've switched gears, we might even go a bit more R&B."

Music to my ears. She also said she already has an "amazing song" for the next album and she was a bit bummed she got it after this record was done.

Oh and she thinks "Yeah" is on AIEW.

When she walked down to the lower stage.... I was like, oh damn, here she comes, she's gonna rock it out. And....... nothing.

She's so boring with these uptempos lately. I get it that she wants to sell her vocals, but the song will be as boring as you present it, even if you have great vocals, especially for an uptempo.

She should have gone with one of the ballads. Sigh.

I've expected that it would take quite some time for them to slay this song on a live setting, a la Stronger like Peterawr said. What seemed dull for me in this specific live though is the stage and the band's arrangement. She doesn't need to move around the whole stage to make a great performance (latest AMAs, People Like Us on Idol come to mind). I hope they make the next live sound closer to what's on the record because that's where the magic is. The one we had on The Voice felt like a skeletal version. I also can't wait to see her get confident in putting some adlibs to this song which she has already done in previous performances.

I'm guessing that's the case. They still have a few weeks to decide since the freeze is coming soon. Doesn't look like "Medicine" even cracked the top 200 (it's currently #280 which isn't exactly promising). I wish there was another high profile gig for her to do before they have to choose so that listeners can get a taste of "Heat." Wonder if it would fare any better?

The lowered key definitely took some oomph out of the song for sure. She also just seemed really out of it, which is odd considering how engaging nearly every other performance has been this era. Still a good vocal, though!

Yeah, the performance was a little flat for me. She sounded fine, it just lacked energy. Still team "Meaning Of Life" here.

The performance was not bad at all. Underwhelming sure maybe a little, but not bad.

Unfortunately, there is not a song on this album that is going to blow up and smash. They can go with Heat, Medicine, MOL, whatever song they want to really and I really don't think anything will smash.

That duet with Josh is just out of this world. I know it's been said a million times but Kelly's versatility is beyond incredible and so under appreciated. I honestly don't know of any other artist that can seamlessly go from one genre to another so effortlessly. She is just amazing.

I defended Medicine’s live potential before so I thought i should chime in to say it DEFINITELY does not work as well as Heat does live. And if it does, they haven’t yet figured out how.

Nope. Kelly's team sent out an email promoting The Voice performance and they didn't tout it as her "next single" or anything, either. Maybe they were just testing it out? idk, but either way, no point in officially releasing until after the New Year anyway, so we'll find out...soon...
