I think the dress is badass and flattering. Ok good I'm not the only one! I only wish she had on one more accessory, either a clutch or necklace or something. But otherwise I really liked her look. |

I also quite like the dress. It's Kelly, so I don't need her to land on a best-dressed list nearly as much as I just want her to stay off all of the worst dressed ones lol. This was a solidly safe look for her. (That said, I am so over the bare-neck trend that has lasted for so many years now. Will someone PLEASE give me a big statement piece!)

Well I'll take Vanity Fair's fashion word over TV Guide's random ass slide show ( forty-one worst dressed people? really?!), although in general I'm not a fan of any website that is all 'best/worst dressed!' and then throws up a slide show of pictures with no explanation of what made a 'fit so great or awful. Anyway, I'm genuinely confused over how polarizing Kelly's dress seemed to be last night. I wouldn't have put her on either list tbh! But then, I kind of felt that the night as a whole was boring sea of black (I know that was for a reason) so it didn't leave the fashion police much to work with on either end of the spectrum. I looked at all the pics on Huff Post and the only real mess was Sarah Jessica Parker, so I guess someone had to catch some flack. I thought Kelly's only fashion 'crime' was that she looked a bit plain due to the lack of jewelry. If not a necklace, she should have had some statement earrings or a sparkling tiara - nothing too OTT of course, but something to really finish the look off. And I would have personally used black lace instead of the gold material for a more subtle contrast, but the gold wasn't enough to offend the senses IMO. I loved the volume of the skirt and fit of the bodice. |

Then a promo roadmap including The Voice and Grammy's (whether or not she performs single 2 or not), and she has an enviable few months for second single promo. |

I've switched allegiance from #TeamMedicine to #TeamWholeLottaWoman. I still stan for "Medicine," but I wore it out in anticipation of its singledom and am now skeptical of its success. "Whole Lotta Woman" is happier and more fun, translates better live, and could make for a nice tie-in with all the pro-woman/#MeToo talk in the media these days.
Honorable mention to "Heat" and "Didn't I," which I also spin frequently. "Meaning of Life" can be Single #3.

I think it's testament to the good will she's accrued over the years; how people genuinely warm to her, how they approach her, how they are happy to see her succeed. I think she, and we, sometimes forget quite how famous she in terms of her part in pop culture as the first winner of American Idol. Anybody who has heard of the latter, know who Kelly Clarkson is. In terms of the second single, most of the big players at labels take the first ten days of January off for vacation. So unless you have something to launch which has everything ready to go at the push of a button (JT), then things won't pick back up till mid Jan for everybody else. *Then* they can announce the next single Heat. |
