That guy pictured with her almost looks like he doesn't want to get too close. LOL! They are presenting at an Awards show. There are usually markers where each presenter should stand and read from the prompt. I don't think he is trying to not get too close, Drew Brees is a really nice guy and I am sure he and Kelly get along. |

She may get me to watch The Voice this season. I usually avoid singing competition shows like the plague. Why am I gonna get invested in these contestants for them to only disappear? It's depressing. But I just know she's gonna be a hoot. I wonder how many performances she'll be able to cram in.

No joke: I was walking to get a refill for my coffee in the underground mall by my work 20 minutes ago and "In The Blue" was playing over the speakers! Whoever is in charge of the music selection must stan for Kelly because two weeks ago on my way to work I heard "Go High." Not complaining though. :)

Fun little tidbit: A family member knows someone working on The Voice (who will hopefully help get me into a live show) and she said that Kelly has been everything she was billed to be and more, and described her as the kindest, wittiest, most down-to-earth person she could imagine. Nothing we didn't already know, but still fun to hear.

Tightrope really didn't get the respect it deserved. It's probably her best self-penned ballad imo.

^Ehhh, I don't really view that as a ballad-ballad though. Tightrope is a more straightforward piano ballad with a simple melody, great structure, beautiful vocals, and tasteful production. It checks all the boxes for me.

Her "Glitter in the Air" moment did happen though, just with a (superior) song called "Piece By Piece" instead. "Tightrope" is an absolutely incredible song though. For its faults and the just-wrap-up-this-contract feel Piece By Piece had to it at times, it contains some of her strongest songwriting*: "Piece By Piece," "Tightrope," and "In The Blue." I really hope she prioritizes writing her own material on the next album. It doesn't have to be all written/cowritten by her, but I'd want at least half. *We won't talk about "I Had a Nightmare." |
