Ummm wow! It's just the beginning of december and UTT jumped from #197 to #65 on Spotify Worldwide today! Last year was the first time that the song had moderate numbers on Spotify at the end of December. So it actually has a chance of becoming that xmas classic now! Very excited about this. I remember hearing the song for the first time and being amazed by the first lines already and then my wig flying to Africa when she hit the G5 and did the adlibs. ^December 3rd, 2018 Let's see if it cracks the Top 100 faster this year!

It will definitely get a considerable amount more streams this year, simply because Spotify is gaining more users year over year, but yeah it will be interesting to see how it performs relatively to the other tracks on the chart, most of which were there last year.
It’s #13 on the Christmas Hits playlist and #7 on the Christmas Pop playlist.

neally for some reason they didn't post it on YT, but did on twitter. It was the suuuuuper wordy Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up and Garth joined her. Today's cover was great! Every time she does a song like that, it makes me wish she had something similar to that in her catalog.

Wowza. This woman is insane. It’s also clear that she recognizes the fact that Kellyoke is her “point of difference” and signature contribution to the daytime landscape — and she’s upping her game to meet the demand. It’s impressive as hell and unbelievable to witness.

While it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody how loyal, down-to-earth, and caring Kelly is, this digital video is just so appropriate for Thanksgiving: _________________________________________________________________- ‘Kelly Clarkson’ Is a Ratings Winner — and a Throwback to Old Days of Talk Shows By CYNTHIA LITTLETON Cynthia Littleton Kelly Clarkson built her career by blending country, pop, R&B and rock influences into a soulful sound all her own. As it turns out, the singer-songwriter has a touch of Dinah Shore in her as well. Clarkson has delivered an impressive performance so far with her move into the daytime talk-show arena as host of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Since its September debut, the hourlong talk-variety show, distributed by NBCUniversal, has proven to be a ratings contender, ranking No. 4 among all syndicated daytime talkers, ahead of such veterans as “Maury,” “Rachael Ray” and “The Wendy Williams Show.” The “American Idol” alum’s strong start is adding more fuel to the renewed fire in the first-run syndication business. After a few fallow years, distributors are slowly but surely taking bigger swings with boldface names in an effort to seed a new generation of personalities. Drew Barrymore and Nick Cannon are among the notables set to segue into the daytime yak pack in the fall of 2020. “We’re happy ‘Kelly Clarkson’ is working. It shows that if you go big in a talk show with the right talent, it can stick,” says Ira Bernstein, co-president of Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury syndication unit, which is the distributor behind “Nick Cannon.” “If we can keep daytime TV relevant and attractive to viewers with more new shows, everybody wins.” Local broadcast TV stations once had a license to print money in daytime. Competition from cable was minimal. The major studios targeted the daypart with first-run syndication, or programs sold to station owners on a market-by-market basis rather than to a national network. First-run syndication in the heyday of the 1980s and ’90s delivered massive hits à la “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy” and “Judge Judy.” But the track record for first-run programming in the past decade has been dismal. “Kelly Clarkson” is the first newcomer to register a real pulse since Steve Harvey launched his talk show in 2012. NBCUniversal has already renewed the series for a second season. Tonally speaking, Clarkson’s show is a throwback to the breezy celebrity-driven chat fests of the 1960s and ’70s. Think Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas and Shore bantering with guests on the couch, interacting with the studio audience, doing a song or sketch or two and offering up feel-good human-interest segments. Tracie Wilson, executive VP of creative affairs for NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, says Clarkson has the right stuff for daytime. NBCU had high hopes after watching her work last year as a coach on NBC’s “The Voice.” But daytime requires a deeper level of connection with viewers in order to make the show a daily habit. “Kelly is the exact same person off camera that she is on camera,” Wilson says. “She’s putting her heart and soul into the show, and that’s coming through to the viewer.” The Texas-born singer-songwriter comes by her frequent use of “y’all” honestly. It’s no surprise to NBCU that the show is scoring in heartland markets like Nashville, Phoenix and Portland, Ore. “Kelly Clarkson” has averaged about 1.8 million viewers for the season to date (through Nov. 8). That puts her behind only “Dr. Phil” (3.2 million viewers), “Live With Kelly and Ryan” (2.7 million) and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (2.5 million) among daytime talkers. “Kelly Clarkson” generated immediate buzz for its opening segment, dubbed “Kellyoke,” in which Clarkson gives a full- throated performance of a song by another artist. The list has ranged from Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” to Lizzo’s “Juice” to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” The segment has become a reliable promotional engine for the show on social media and broadcast platforms. The “Kellyoke” segments have drawn more than 13 million views on the show’s YouTube channel to date, per NBC. CBS Television Studios is hoping that Barrymore will give Clarkson some competition on the relatable-celebrity front with an entertainment- and lifestyle-focused show. Cannon is following a similar path to Clarkson by planting his flag in daytime after gaining TV stature in primetime as the host of Fox’s reality hit “The Masked Singer” and NBC’s summer staple “America’s Got Talent.” “Nick Cannon” has been picked up for a fall 2020 launch by Fox Television Stations, which will put the show on Fox affiliates in nine of the top 10 markets. That will help drive promotion for the daytime show in connection with “Masked Singer,” much as NBCUniversal drives cross-promotion for Clarkson’s show with “The Voice” and other NBCU assets. Cannon served as a guest host for Debmar-Mercury’s “Wendy Williams” earlier this year, which sealed the company’s conviction to take a gamble with him in daytime. Cannon’s show will air in tandem with “Wendy Williams” in many markets, giving it a compatible lead-in. The national launch of a Monday-through-Friday syndicated talk show is at minimum a $30 million proposition. Debmar-Mercury co-president Mort Marcus says that Cannon was worth the risk, despite the high casualty rate in daytime. “We would not be launching this unless we felt there was a really, really good chance it will be a moneymaker,” Marcus says. “Yes, it’s a tighter marketplace for syndication, but it’s healthier for the market when there are a bunch of new shows and people are trying new things.” variety.com/2019/tv/news/kelly-clarkson-talk-show-ratings-1203417288/

I will never not be befuddled at the label's decision to go with that top photo for the US cover. She doesn't look bad, I just...will never get that.

To this day, I still can't recognize Kelly in that photo. It's the pose and the hair.

I kinda love the Breakaway US cover? It was cute and fit the tone of the album. She’s had worse since then that we should really be complaining about (see Piece By Piece)

I know I'm not speaking for the majority here but I actually love the cover of Piece By Piece. But I still cannot even look at this:

She is the queen of bad album covers, honestly. Most of them have been tragic, and she's had *much* worse than the US Breakaway cover (see Ryan's post above for further reference). I actually don't mind the Breakaway cover tbh, but for the longest time I thought her hair was a top hat, so...

Kelly looks like an 11-year old who is running a slight fever and trying to block out the sound of her parents fighting on the US Breakaway cover. I always found it odd because a) it felt like almost the exact opposite of the theme that album title supposedly represented (growing up, moving on, etc.) and b) literally every other professional photo we got from that era was AMAZING and serving highkey bad bitch vibes so it was like...they really went out of their way to find the one low-res photo where she looks like a child?
Thankful is dated in all the best ways. It's like looking at an early 2000s time capsule.
My December is almost inarguably her best album cover (MOL might put up a fight). Both of those covers perfectly encapsulate the respective album theme and Kelly's state of mind in general at the time. They feel expensive and well-conceived. I love them.
The AIEW covers are the kinds of unnecessary photoshop shenanigans I expect as a lamb. Getting hit with that as a KC fan was certainly not what I was expecting. But I think the situation leading into it is what makes those feel so off, not the covers themselves.
Stronger is an okay one, though that is another one where the facial expression doesn't really match the album title/theme IMO. At least the Stronger photo actually looks like they paid for a professional photographer as opposed to picking a faded polaroid.
I said when it was released that PxP would have been 10x better if it had been a holographic cover, and I still believe that. But the photo itself was a mess so it made the half-assed concept seem even worse.
I wouldn't say most of Kelly's album covers have been bad (I don't even think the US Breakaway one is the worst thing in the world - like I said, it just befuddles me), she just doesn't have many standout ones. She's never really been a visual artist, BTHE and BOY videos notwithstanding.

I can't believe we are discussing Kelly's album cover fails and haven't even brought this one up: Edited to add: WIR, MD and MOL are without a doubt her best album covers.

Her best album cover imo is the one for Wrapped in Red. That was stunningly beautiful. I'd say WIR also has the best booklet. Just look at the centerfold.

She is the queen of bad album covers, honestly. *ahem* This is the exception to the rule (along with WIR). I'd probably rank them... Perfect: MD, WIR Good/OK: Stronger, MOL, Breakaway Bad: Thankful, AIEW, PxP, GH (I still don't know why they changed it from the original cover that leaked on her FB/Twitter) So I was being a bit hyperbolic when I said "most" of her album covers have been tragic, but there are some clunkers for sure. With a career as illustrious and long lasting as hers, however, that's bound to happen.
