Had to look this up because his name sounded familiar - he's the lead singer of Hot Chelle Rae, and this...doesn't sound like much of a sonic or lyrical departure. Interesting decision to move into country.

His dad is Keith Follese who co-wrote one of my favorite Randy Travis songs, "Before You Kill Us All". |

When will the labels realize that using The Highway statistics to promote their artists is both A) meaningless embarassing nonsense and B) like trying to convince Burger King that it should sell Big Mac's because McDonald's does it?

I hate Hot Chelle Rae minus "I Like To Dance" but I have to say that I actually kind of love this lol. Its not at all country, but the melody and production totally work for me, especially in the chorus. I'd definitely take this over the majority of what HCR put out. Do I want Ryan Follese in country music? Not necessarily, but I'm not one to ignore a song I like just because I don't think it belongs in the genre/format that its being pushed to.

Just speculating, but isn't part of what the interns at The Highway do is "find" artists at various gigs in Nashville and try to get them on the air? There are plenty of options on any given night for artists to perform their craft. |

This is nothing more than a money deal between the Follesse's and Borchetta. Kind of like Jaron & The Long Road To Love.
Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if the song didnt completely suck.
Which it does. No lyrical originality. Nothing country about it.

It's not meaningless embarrassing nonsense when it's giving any artist a platform for exposure, and you simply can't argue that The Highway listeners aren't consumers when there is hard evidence in digital sales, whether it's a "Highway find" like this or the 275% sales increase Thomas Rhett's Vacation saw within three DAYS of the Highway starting to play it. You may not like the Highway or care for their playlist and that's fine and your prerogative, but brushing it aside as meaningless in the scope of the Nashville business world is ridiculous. Also, this song sucks. |

I feel like Big Machine is trying to top how non-country and bad of a song they can send to radio. They send a song to radio and I think thats the worst pop song I ever heard, and why is it on my country station? I have said many times that "this (insert said song here) is the worst song that country radio will ever play". I have been burned too many times, everytime I say these things Big Machine or someone close to them manages to create something worse. So here we are with "FYB". If I never heard this song again that would be too many times for me. Song is awful, how did "Country Radio" end up the landing spot for terrible pop songs that would never make it in the pop world? SMH!!

This is... not good. Bleh.  Random aside but I did like Hot Chelle Rae's two big hits though ("Tonight Tonight" and "I Like It Like That"). This really sounds like it could've just been another HCR song though because there's basically no discernible sonic difference between this & stuff they did as a band. I get the country connection through his family so it made some sense to "go country" if he was going out on his own solo (and HCR stopped being relevant like four years ago), but this doesn't work at all. |

Literally, at least two of them (ads) every damn day. It's just such a horrific song to be pontificating about.

He'll be in there again tomorrow :) I've found that most of the Aircheck ads typically run on a Tuesday through Monday cycle. The ads from BBRMG are sometimes an exception; they'll sometimes be on a Monday-Friday cycle, and BBRMG often also rotates through their imprints (Broken Bow, Stoney Creek, Red Bow, and Wheelhouse) in the ad space that they've purchased. |

We can file this one under the category of "ghost singles". It was sent to radio, but before they could give it an adds date (and actually promote it), the label switched to "Put A Label On It" as Ryan's debut country single instead.
Moving this to the non-singles/album tracks forum now.

I looked at the picture and it took me a minute to figure out who he was. Hot Chelle Rae kinda sucked, but I'll listen to this and his actual debut when I can. He had a decent voice I guess.
I did like "Tonight Tonight" and "I Like It Like That" when they were out, but I can't bear to listen to them anymore.
