This might be the fourth single off of their second studio album of the same name. A new version of the song entitled "Run (Beautiful Things)" was just released to iTunes. It replaces the "I am a human being, capable of doing terrible things" line with 'beautiful' instead of 'terrible', alongside a few production changes and shortening of the song.

I understand why they did that in the wake of recent tragedies, but it kind of ruins the point of the song.

Yeah I'm not a fan at all of the lyric change. It kind of takes away the dramatic feel of the song, and the whole "Run" part makes no sense. One of my biggest pet peeves is actually when artists change lyrics in a song to be politically correct -- usually it's when they change a swear word to something else, but this is the same type of thing IMO. Honestly gives me a lot less respect for the band.
As for the song as the 4th single, the edit still doesn't make it radio friendly and there's no reason to release it now since the Run meme died half a year ago. Fourth singles almost never do well on alt anyways, so it probably doesn't matter what they send honestly.

The original message of the song is that people can do some fucked up things. So why change it? Because you were proven right?
