Well, I turn 26 today, but the BIG news is that Dolly Parton’s new album “Pure & Simple” has finally arrived! It’s a sweet little set of songs all about love. All different kinds of love. Pure love, cheating love, forever love, new and lustful love. The standout tracks (even though they’re all stunning) are “Pure & Simple”, “Outside Your Door”, and “Can’t Be That Wrong”. The simple production of the songs keeps the focus on Dolly’s amazing vocals, just as perfect as they’ve ever been, and her wonderful storytelling. She wrote every song on the album. It’s classic, quintessential Dolly, showing exactly why she’s had a 50+ year career. In an ever-changing world, it’s comforting to know that Dolly Parton is a constant. Thanks for the best birthday present I could’ve asked for, Dolly!

I listened to the new album this morning and enjoyed it. Standouts for me were Pure & Simple, Can't Be That Wrong, Outside Your Door, Head Over High Heels, and Forever Love. I'll listen to the bonus tracks this weekend when I pick up the album at Walmart. Still kicking myself for missing out on the Walmart exclusive version of Blue Smoke.

The title track is one of her best, ever, period. The album as a whole is just lovely, though I do hope it grows on me a bit more.
Saw her in Queens earlier this summer; she was a delight. Easily the best concert of my life.

Love the album! It's cool she re-wrote "God Won't Get Ya" from Rhinestone to be the song "Can't Be That Wrong." Every time Dolly puts out a new studio album it's still fresh as her music was at her peak! I just love her and hope for many more albums!

Billboard is reporting this will sell about 20,000. Enough for a #1 debut on the Country chart. It's her first #1 since "Eagle When She Flies" 25 years ago. That alone makes me feel old cause I remember asking mom to take me to buy the "Eagle" cassette when she picked me up from school, I was 11. But congrats to Dolly! So many albums of hers in the last 25 years SHOULD have gone #1!

I got tickets to see her in New Orleans at the end of November! I had heard she was coming but then the date disappeared off of her site and off of Ticketmaster. That was weeks ago and I kept checking but nothing ever showed up again. I tried once more tonight on a whim and there it was again. I don't know when they went on sale for that stop so I could only get nosebleed seats but I don't really care about being front and center, just want to see her in person. I am bringing my husband and it is a total surprise. I hope I can keep it a secret. I already told him how I wanted to go but the date disappeared so hopefully he doesn't remember that conversation when I tell him not to plan anything on Nov 30th. lol

The soundtrack to Dumplin' is out and I think this is my favorite album from her in quite a while. The streaming version includes two exclusive remixes from the movie, which is out December 7 on Netflix.

Back in 1997, she covered Cat Stevens' "Peace Train" with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and there were some remixes released. All of the Junior Vasquez remixes are now available digitally for streaming and buying for the first time ever. Only the long 13 minute version Junior's Arena Anthem was released on the commercial single and one of the Dolly remix albums. That version is on here as Junior's Arena Anthem With Reprise. All of the other variations and versions have never been released or anything like that before.
EDIT: A friend of mine who has done work with Junior Vasquez in the past helped to make this release possible. He works for Peloton and there was a collaboration with Dolly Parton and he was able to tell her and her people that the "Peace Train" remixes were not available anywhere so they were able to sort it all out and get it released.
