I actually think Carrie Underwood might get that Entertainer of The Year. While her sales aren't anything like they used to be, I think she has the edge. Her tour gets amazing reviews her acclaim with music critics is stronger than all the other acts expect Chris Stapleton. But the kicker for Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton is the radio airplay. Carrie Underwood still has the Sunday Night Football theme, and what also makes her stand out is the fact that she was one of the 5 artists honored at the CMT Artists of the Year (along with Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton). Their is just too large of a case for Carrie Underwood she has more acclaim than Keith Urban (this isn't a dig at Keith Urban, just from what I've seen online Ripcord didn't receive quite as positive reviews as Storyteller), Luke Bryan (since when did Luke Bryan ever get acclaim) Garth Brooks (Garth mainly cause he didn't release anything really in the timeframe). Her touring numbers are better than all the other nominees except Garth Brooks, I believe. Carrie Underwood has had 3 straight #1s (note justme60 Keith Urban is at 3 in a row #1s, "Blue Ain't Your Color" hasn't hit #1 yet) which have all gone gold and she has a pretty strong YouTube views with her songs released in the time frame ("Church Bells" and "Heartbeat" are at 14 million and "Smoke Break" 15 million) with only Luke Bryan and maybe Chris Stapleton having more YouTube views. I believe Carrie Underwood is looking the most likely and I believe Luke Bryan is the 2nd most likely to win the award, I do have a feeling both are dead even but the acclaim might put Carrie Underwood over the edge. Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton I would consider dark horse canidates and I think Garth Brooks will not win it at all since all he has is touring. I'm looking forward to what others predict for this award show.

I'm looking forward to what others predict for this award show. I will know if Carrie wins it based on whether Maren Morris wins female vocalist of the year. If Morris wins this Underwood will be your EOTY. If Morris does not Carrie has no chance at EOTY. With the amount of nominees going Morris' way I believe it very strongly she is the female vocalist of the year and the domino effect begins. Her only competition in this category is Stapleton (based on the voters of the award). I don't think any of the other 3 have a chance (especially Luke winning it last year).

Carrie also has in her favor the general knowledge of the voting members that she's consistently been a member of the "snub-club". Since 2008, until this year, Carrie only had a few nominations here and there (never for Entertainer of the Year). She also hasn't won since 2008; she's way overdue for a win in any category - I think the voters know that. I don't think this is a slam dunk for anyone. The only prediction I can confidently make is that Keith won't win Entertainer. Nothing against Keith, I love him, but I just don't see enough votes going his way. I'm also fairly confident in predicting Chris won't win; mainly because he really hasn't done enough to deserve it, yet, and I think the voters know that. The CMA has never been quick to hand out Entertainer of the Year, I don't think that'll change any time soon. So really, it's a 3-horse race (Carrie, Garth, Luke). They're all incredibly deserving in their own rights (although Garth having released no music probably shouldn't be a contender). So then it comes down to Luke and Carrie, I think between the two, Carrie has the edge for the reasons I listed above; I also don't think they'll hand this over to Luke a third time .

Sorry for the double post, but Rolling Stone just confirmed that seven former Entertainers of the Year are performing at the CMAs; Reba, Vince Gill, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Charley Pride.

I have a feeling they may refrain from announcing some of the legends to create some element of surprise. I fully expect Dolly to perform, even if they don't announce her as a performer. I can totally see Carrie starting IWALY and then Dolly walking up behind her to close the song... I'm sure they'll definitely try to pull a few surprises like that.

Dolly will undoubtedly do something. She'll be there anyways; she's getting the Willie Nelson Achievement Award thingy. (Willie Nelson? Irving Waugh? Pinnacle? I really don't remember which exclusive award she's getting because these shows create a new one every ten days.)

Best batch of nominees in a long time, now they're putting together a very impressive list of performers. I haven't been this excited about the CMA's in years!

Speaking of previous winners of "Entertainer of the Year" performing, it would be my dream to see the Dixie Chicks on the CMA stage again doing some killer medley...but i don't think that will ever happen

They were an EOTY winner, and an all-female group that won the award, at that. Combined with their huge comeback tour this year, I could definitely see them making an appearance.

The country music establishment FINALLY buries the hatchet with the Dixie Chicks. I think it is WAY overdue.

The day this year's CMA nods came out, I created a Facebook event titled 'Watch Carrie Underwood WIN Entertainer of the Year.' I'm having a party--complete with food and lots of liquor--because I'm that confident that she's walking away with the honor. Or, at least I hope she is, because feeding and boozing everyone up isn't cheap when two bottles of champagne are being popped. Fingers crossed.

I didn't create mine until last weekend, but my selling point to get my friends to come over was to watch my reaction to the Entertainer of the Year winner being announced. I'll be reacting very strongly whether Carrie wins or not so either way my friends will get a good show at the end! Really hoping I'll get to jump up and scream in excitement rather than frustration though I'm feeling pretty good about her chances though. I'm still skeptical because it is the CMAs after all...

Holy shit. How long is this show going to be?
I suspect a lot of medleys and group performances... But damn, they've got like 40 lined up, or so it seems.
Also, super anxious to see Randy Travis perform, I'm sure it'll just be a line or two - probably "Amazing Grace" or one of his hits, but that's really exciting to see him returning to the stage. I wouldn't mind Randy being the one to present Entertainer of the Year, I think Randy announcing the winner would be super poignant.

Not sure what he'll be doing performance-wise. I'm still on a total hunch that Dolly Parton will present Entertainer.

I've had the hunch about Dolly presenting Entertainer, too. But I just think it would add to the emotion of the moment if Randy were to announce the name. They usually always have a former Entertainer of the Year present, though. In which case Dolly would be the clear choice given her placement and involvement in "Forever Country". I'm just super stoked for this show, it should be an amazing night for country music.

I don't really care who presents it; as long as the name they read is CU's, I'm chillin'.

At this point it would be more about the Chicks burying the hatchet with the establishment. I don't mean it as a knock on them, I mean it to say the country music establishment was ridiculous in how they treated the Chicks, and if anyone has a hatchet to bury it's the group.

I get the vibe from a few places that Dolly will be honored. I just saw a Mary Lane Haskell - Sam Haskell's who is a long time friend/worked on the NBC movie series- daughter tweet about coming to Nashville for the awards. Of course Jennifer will be there and performing, curious if Alyvia / Ricky / etc will be there as well. I don't know, I just get this feeling she'll be honored - in general or for the movies series like she was at the ACM's. Maybe I'm reading into people involved with the tweeting about coming to the awards when they wouldn't otherwise be there unless it involved Dolly.

Hahaha I can't help but think that when many of these performers come out, 50% of the audience will be like, "Who are these people?" "Martina McBride" is a name I have been eagerly anticipating since it became clear that the CMAs were honoring a lot of veteran artists :) She's a pretty obvious one to honor, considering that she is still somewhat relevant, and has been a pretty regular performer on the CMAs for like 25 years. There are lots of surprises on here though! Randy Travis? Charlie Daniels? Clint Black? ROY CLARK???!! This is shaping up to be one hell of a show!!!

Excuse me? Why is Chris Stapleton nominated for ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR? Over Jason Aldean and Kenny Really?
I honestly would like this explained to me. The other 4 I can put my bias aside and understand even if I don't care for them personally, but STAPLETON??
No offense to Stapleton but CMA EOTY is decided by showing the greatest competence in all aspects of the entertainment field.
sitting on a stool in small venues for your entire set, looking homeless is not EOTY worthy and there were much better candidates for the honor. Espically not when up against people who out there killing themselves to put on a show everynight with staging, outfits, production, tv apperances, number 1's on radio, clothing lines, ambassadors of company etc who are really spreading the country name...
He is completley riding on CMA hype and it isn't fair.. I could think of 20 people more deserving, the fact that he is even nominated makes me fear any results for the entire night.
