Second single from her upcoming second album.
"Smoke and Fire" took a few listens to click with me, but I really like this. That tropical beat trend has yet to bore me.
(Maybe Hollywood will actually send this one to radio? They have done her a disservice that they never did to their previous singers from Disney Channel by not sending any of her music to radio IIRC.)

The tropical sound is starting sound a bit dated imo. I really don't like this girl's voice, it's way too nasal for me.
I feel like it would do moderately well on Pop, but not really any other format.

I actually really liked her on the chill, more low-key Meghan Trainor tracks (Can't Blame A Girl For Trying, Darling I'm A Mess). Those kind of tracks suit her voice, which is really pretty - but, yes, somewhat thin and nasally.
For some reason, Hollywood keeps releasing these "bigger," more conventional (and generic) pop songs as singles - Eyes Wide Open, We'll Be The Stars, Smoke & Fire, etc - and they're all wrong for her. What happened to the whole notion of "accentuating the strengths, hiding the weaknesses"?

"We'll Be the Stars" and "Eyes Wide Open" are two of the weakest tracks on her debut album. That said, I'm kinda living for "On Purpose" right now. It's so catchy oh my god. I wish they would send this to radio cause it's so fun.
