I was surprised to see that nobody posted anything about the newest entry into the streaming market, Amazon Music Unlimited.
Plans are $9.99/mo without Prime, $7.99/mo with prime, and $3.99/mo if you have an Amazon Echo.
I'm not willing to give up my playlists and a decent cross-platform interface with Spotify to save $2 a month.

I still miss Rdio.

This pricing just isn't competative enough.

They definitely could have made it $5 with prime and free with an echo. I would consider switching for that

Far as I can tell the only difference between this and Prime Music is the number of available songs (2 million vs 10 million). Even after accounting for the assumed cost for rights, this service should be free to Prime users until the end of their current subscriptions, and 12 months free to Echo users. Then after that, offer a Prime With Music Unlimited package for $149 per year or $15.99 a month (regular Prime should stay at $99 a year/$10.99 a month) and $4.99/mo plan for Echo users.
Of course, with this proposal also comes the assumption that the interface across platforms is sufficient, and that doesn't seem to be the case right now? But I have Prime and if Music Unlimited had a reliable Windows desktop client and mobile app for Android, I'd definitely consider giving up Spotify for that theoretical $149 package.

I got the e-mail last night. Not giving up my Spotify playlists for this. Actually what's more important to me is personalized playlists and less about the largest number of songs available.

Amazon has a lot of subscription services that I would maybe be interested in if they came with Prime (or with a discount at Prime). They keep advertising Audible and Kindle Unlimited, but I'm not about to spend $10/month each on those services when I already pay $100/year to Amazon anyway. So yeah throw Music Unlimited into the same category for me.

It seems really odd that they would jump onto this bandwagon when there are so many other established services out there that do what they are doing already and they do it so much better and at better prices with a larger selection of music. Spotify and Apple Music have conquered such a large chunk of the market that it would be hard for any one of these new services to enter the market and actually steal a significant amount of market share, unless they have something that is really unique or special that differentiates it from the others.
I already use Spotify and it has a rather large library of music. It is very user friendly and the price for the subscription is reasonable for what you are getting. I have used Apple Music (when they had that trial last year) and it was good enough but I had a lot of issues with it and I would much rather stick with Spotify which still works fine even if you don't subscribe (those ads though...). Tidal is just too pricey for what you are getting. The rare exclusives they have just cannot justify such a high expenditure each month. Very few sit there with bated breath waiting for their favorite's exclusive on Tidal.

Still cheaper for me to just pay 24.99/year and upload songs that I want on my prime playlists that aren't on Amazon Prime. If this were 4.99/month, I'd jump.

The consensus I've seen from tech media is a collective meh. Nobody seems to hate it, but it doesn't offer anythung to make existing streamers want to switch.
