Words cannot describe how bad I want these guys be a success at country radio. This song is very, VERY good (although I selfishly would have preferred "Check Cashin' Country" or "This Old Heart").
Their EP is straight outta 1997. Fantastic stuff here, friends. Do yourself a favor and give this EP a listen...and listen to what good country music used to sound like.

This song is great but "fourteen gears" is absolutely unreal. I actually think Midland will end up being the next big breakthrough group. The sound absolutely fits the outlier 90's sound that has started to hit with Pardi/Morgan/etc. I think this song will absolutely smash (as the radio version still caters to the mainstream sound). I also believe this might get "on the verge" support.

I love this, but every time I see the title I automatically hear David Ball screeching out "I've got a thinkin' problem" and get annoyed lol.
But this really is a great country song though, even though I'm not particularly enamored with their vocals. I do like the arrangement and the instrumentation. This song takes me right back to the 90s. It reminds me of my childhood. Miss this style of country.

Dude, just because someone mentions another song in a thread doesn't mean we need a video and a top ten chart. Don't we have separate subs for these types of things?

I got to say, I have fallen in love with this song...one of the big reasons I love being a part of Pulse is that songs like this I may never have found on my own (I mean, I'm pretty obsessed with scoping for new artists and songs, but who can find them all? lol) and it's a direct result of being a part of the Pulse community that opens the door to finding songs like this.
I really love the sound of these guys and the chorus is such an earworm!

This is awesome! Great use of the steel guitar and strong vocals. Lyrically nothing new, but this one is going to sound great on repeat.

"The first Highway find of 2017" is...a real country song? Color me optimistic.
What a good tune. Great instruments, productions, melody and witty country lyrics. Hope this goes somewhere for them.

Yep, I love this too. I'm glad Big Machine is giving them the full try at mainstream radio. Listening to their music, it might be easy to assume they wouldn't try to have radio help them out but it's nice to see they got a long radio tour and an impact date around CRS.
This song covers no new ground but the melody stands out and the vocal are good, even though I'm not overly crazy with the lead vocalist. It's a throwback feel but honestly, it sounds like a song that could've been released in 2004-2006 as well -- kind of get a John Pierce, "I'd Still Have You" feel to it. If anyone remembers Pierce's only single, then you're my new best friend. lol

My dad heard this on Sirius/XM and said the refrain sounds very similar to David Ball's "Thinkin' Problem." lol

"Drinkin' Problem" impacts radio next Monday but this one is already top 60 on Mediabase this week (*67-*60) and was already top 60 on Billboard. Encouraging start for sure.

And selling pretty well for a traditional song :) The Highway has proven that bands can sell to a select core audience and that's who has been buying this song. That group had Brett Young's "In Case You Didn't Know" outselling the terrestrial radio single "Sleep Without You" for most of the latter song's chart run once The Highway started playing the former song.

This is pretty good. Doesn't stand out a whole lot to me as a song, but I do love the older-style production (the steel guitar is gorgeous). That alone makes it a win if this does well.

This feels so late 90's and I'm loving it (along with "Missing"). I'm hoping that this sound is one that's going to make a comeback of sorts because it's sorely missed by me.
Also love the leads voice, do we know which one is singing lead?

The music video makes this look more dated than the song itself, which I didn't expect, lol. Liked it a lot though.

"Drinkin' Problem" is the second most added song on Mediabase this week with 30 adds on impact day. 45 total stations. I'm pretty sure that's outstanding for an unknown artist releasing an exact replica of a George Strait 1990s hit. If radio lets this become a hit (which it should be) then I'll be supremely confident in the direction we're headed after the explosion of Jon Pardi and certain artists returning to their old sounds (ZBB, EYB).
