Wow, both ZAYN and Taylor are getting a 2nd #1 debut! :o AND it may get 1,000,000+ sales, cuz Bad Things is selling 100k and has only 1/10 of what IDWLF's sales are! EDIT: It may not stick around TOO long because the video was removed on YouTube. I'd imagine Rank-Song-Sales-AI-Streams-Points 1-I Don't Wanna Love Forever-1M-55-1M=106,500 Still, #1 debut It isn't getting near 1 million. If it does, I'll eat my hat. Then get your hat ready (Sorry if I sound offensive, I'm anything but!)

Bad Things is predicted to sell 56k this week, not 100k. Zayn and Taylor will be lucky to reach 500k. 1 million is currently out of the question unless it continues to maintain its lead. But so far only one song has ever gotten this type of lead and held it for a full week: Hello. And there's nothing suggest this song is going to have that legendary and insane longevity at this sales rate. In fact, quite the opposite given it's already receiving dark red updates.
250k max.

Is Taylor and Zayn's song available to stream anywhere? With iTunes being so weak lately, I can't imagine sales will be THAT amazing. Adele managed to keep that lead against Sorry, which must've sold over 200k that week. I don't see it hitting #1 this week unless it has killer Apple Music streams or something.

I think that IDWLF will be available for streaming at some point. It'd be great to release a music video or even a lyric video this week so as to boost the streaming, otherwise I don't think a #1 debut is coming. I really hope I'm wrong, but I definitely don't see it selling more than 300k first week.

Okay, now that its sales are being reduced by 400%, here's what I got
3-IDWLF-300-45-5-40,000 1-Black Beatles-60-90-35-50,000
It really depends on streaming.

I think it will sell more than 250k. 300k-350k easily IMO (it sold almost 100k yesterday alone, I'm pretty sure). But yeah, it's gonna need colossal streaming to overcome the airplay lead that BB has over it, since BB has a lot of streaming too

Oh so unless there's a video released while hype lasts, there probably won't be new #1 any time soon. False alarm...

J. Cole is going to take over the Hot 100 like The Weeknd just did. He held 2-4 on iTunes all day yesterday, and now he holds 1-9 on Spotify.

J. Cole always seems to have very big first weeks, but I don't exactly understand why. He hasn't had very many hit singles, publicity-wise he is not at all a major star, and his critical reviews, while pretty good, aren't exactly smashing across the board.

Based today's kworb radio airplay update, where I Don't Wanna passed Side to Side for #4, it seems likely that the former will reach #1 on that chart, given that Closer's, Starboy's and 24K Magic's radio audiences have peaked. This should happen within the next couple ofweeks. I'm kind of annoyed by that if it happens. If it hasn't happened by Christmas that could change, though, since the stations playing Holiday music should return to their normal programming and the chart will suffer a shakeup.

That 1981 chart is when I first started listening to American Top 40 with Casey Kasem each week.
That 1986 chart is pretty weak except Bruce Hornsby and Gregory Abbott. 1983-1985 were so strong, but 1986 was an off year to me.

Yes, 1986 was not good year, especially when you compare to 1981, which is filled with classic hits, except for that misguided cover by Diana Ross to launch her RCA years.

^To me, the songs that hit the Top 10 from 1980-1982 were excellent, but the rest were clunkers. It was all mediocre Andy Gibb, Kenny Rogers and Barry Manilow songs.
Many songs that peaked from #11-#40 in 1983-1985 are classics today.
1987-1989 were also good years.
And 1990-1991.
The Hot 100 changed so drastically in late 1991/1992 when Billboard started using SoundScan and BDS.
EVERYTHING was different. Ugh.

It's hard to believe that Country/Pop and saccharine MOR artists like Neil Diamond were a big part of the charts during the early 80s as well. End of 1982 was a watershed as we started to get MTV/New Romantics influence and eventually Madonna/Michael Jackson. BDS and SoundScan, especially, proved the charts were in many ways 'fixed' by DJs and retail reports. I remember the CHR in my hometown during that era reporting that the chart they submitted was a combo of 'airplay and survey of local retailers.'
