KRTS, which had less than a 1.0 rating, was sold to Radio One and changed to Hot AC KROI. Radio One already owns CHR-Rhythmic KBXX and Urban AC KMJQ in the market.

I believe its the 2nd Hot AC station Radio One owns. The other one being WXMA in Louisville.

I'm surprised Radio One formatted KRTS with a non-Black-oriented format.

I'm surprised Radio One formatted KRTS with a non-Black-oriented format. Well that's why I posted that they already on CHR-Rhythmic and Urban AC stations in the market. I don't know of any market where Radio One owns CHR-Rhythmic, Urban, and Urban AC since the format change in Louisville. People on radio-info expected the station to change to Gospel. The Houston-Galveston ratings have one Gospel station, an AM with less than a 1.0 rating. I don't know if another Hot AC or Gospel station would do well.

100000watts says KRTS (it's still KRTS, not KROI) changed to Spanish hits as "La Mera Mera."

Spanish overkill in Houston. But that's what the market demands, I guess. I edited my earlier post.
