Both SOY and COTH top 10 debut is guaranteed, it seems. Sales will be in the 200-250k range, streaming is strong with great showing from Spotify and Youtube, and radio will support both, obviously.

I still can't seem to figure out who the hell Ed Sheeran is and what business he has with Spotify

I think Ed is guaranteed for a #1 debut? I mean Zayn did it last year with worse opening...

I think Ed is guaranteed for a #1 debut? I mean Zayn did it last year with worse opening... No offense for people who like B&B but I'd rather have Ed Sheeran's "Cheap Thrills" rip-off as #1 rather than another viral/meme song for the next 10 weeks. I like Black Beatles and I like Bad and Boujee a little, but this is really getting old now.

So, it looks like this week itself will be decided on how strong airplay is compared to the other metrics:
Bad and Boujee: 28,463,436 streams + 70,000,000 sales + 21,000,000 audience impressions = 33,087 points? Black Beatles: 21,103,482 streams + 57,000,000 sales + 100,000,000 audience impressions = 33,110 points?
...hoo boy, this one's a nailbiter.

Oh, the "deserve" aka my opinion > math argument again. Oh Pulse, sometimes you're just so Pulse. I'm confused. Did I say something wrong? Is having an just an opinion a crime in here? I mean the purpose of the forum is discussing opinions. Lmao you said nothing wrong, no need to overreact. It's just that someone here trying to say that some song "deserves" a certain placement on a numerically ranked chart based on data happens about 50+ times a year, so it's sort of a recurring cliche. I want the 2 Ed songs and 2 upcoming Future features to park themselves in the top 10 for months, but you don't see me saying they "deserve" it . If they don't put up the digits then they don't.

I'm glad I underestimated how strong Ed's comeback was. Now it's looking like he'll have two top ten debuts and a chance at number 1.

Tbh Ed Sheeran has always conquered the charts: Thinking Out Loud was the 2015 Year-End #2, Love Yourself was 2016's #1, and as early as this point I can see Shape of You as 2017's top 10 easy. Don't know why some people still question his presence smh

Don't know why some people still question his presence smh "Love Yourself" is fairly irrelevant; that's like expecting if Dianne Warren had released a song in the 90s it would have gone to #1 because she wrote "Because You Loved Me" and "Un-break My Heart." The reality is that the only huge hit Sheeran as a solo artist has had to this point is "Thinking Out Loud." He's had a few other hits, but not huge ones. So, for people to be unsure of his standing is legitimate. I think we all recognize his popularity grew from his first album to his second album and therefore he had momentum, but he's nowhere near the proven hitmaker of a Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, etc. so people were right to be unsure. Good on Ed for his new songs doing really well so far.

I like both new Sheeran songs so hopefully it can do what Bieber did last year and have multiple successful songs on the chart

^ Yeah, it's hard to have two simultaneous hits released at the same time, especially if they are sent to the same formats. Shape of You definitely seems to be the main single they are promoting at radio, and Castle on the Hill mainly an album promo track. Though if interest holds up for the latter, I could definitely see it quickly becoming the next single.

Today's rolling totals reflect Jan. 1-on, so the year-end countdowns, 2016 hits, etc. are leaving the building.

Closest case we have iirc is when I Gotta Feeling debuted at second place while Boom Boom Pow was still leading. So no, no actual cases of both debuting the same week.

Too bad the competition at the top is so strong right now, and Castle On The Hill doesn't seem to be getting a lot of airplay. Maybe it could've had a shot. Depending on how strong Black Beatles and Bad & Boujee's streams are, Ed is looking to debut at #1

Kworb just said he's not sure if Shape of You will open with over 200k, so the #1 might be in danger.
