Closest case we have iirc is when I Gotta Feeling debuted at second place while Boom Boom Pow was still leading. So no, no actual cases of both debuting the same week. I know we are talking about the same artist with two different songs in the top 2. However, the reverse --- Same song, two different artists had top 2 debuts one week apart in 2005 with Inside Your Heaven |

Well, it currently lists 36.125 on Kworb. Last song that had a radio hype debut off the top of my head was Downtown. That had a listing of 26.344 when it launched at #91. I'd say there's a good chance.

Upon checking, you're right; it had a predicted 7k sales, which definitely would give it a leg up. Shape of You's chances are now iffy, though it would be kind of awesome to see it go 100-1.

Ed did a smart thing releasing both. One gives me U2 the other bieber but it represents the title well.
Hopefully Ed gets that #1 and bad and bouji gets it the following week for a few until Ed returns.

Cool that we have 2 different number one hits for 2017 and it's only 1/21 (chart-wise). Hopefully Ed Sheeran can get a week or two on top, even if "Bad And Boujee" goes back for a long run. 3 number one songs before spring counts as rapid turnover these days!

The <insert your fave here> is #1, if you don't count the ones above it is always an interesting argument.
In this case, stemming from, if music were "consumed" in a different way than it is now, what would #1 be? A good current example, is the #1 song on radio is #7, last week (for the first time since probably the 90s, radio's biggest song was not in the top 10). These days internet meme's can propel songs. Is that legit? Currently yes. Traditional forms of music consumption carry less and less weight.

It's crazy how that Shawn Mendes song (that I heard once and don't even remember) is such an iTunes powerhouse but seems incapable of fighting for a Top 10 Hot 100 position. I knew streaming is king but it seems more like a dictator these days. Do well there or don't do well at all.

To be fair, at least Bad & Boujee went viral because of a part of the song, the only reason Black Beatles went that viral is because of a challenge they technically stole.
