I'm really excited for this. ZBB was my favorite country band before the Jekyll + Hyde era, so I'm hoping they can return to the music that made me love them in the first place.

Possibly the single cover, from ZBB's Twitter.

I've heard two separate previews so far and it sounds amazing. This is the most stripped-down single the band has ever released.

Here's the thing. Dave Cobb knows how to bring out the best in artists. To any of you guys who have not yet listened to Southern Family, you are doing your self a disservice and should listen too it. David Cobb brought out the best in Zac Brown himself and I have full confidence this'll be amazing!

Just heard the whole song for the first time, and damn this song is fantastic!
Zac Brown clearly learned a lot from working with Dave Cobb. Zac sounds great and surprisingly vulnerable throughout the track. Even though the emotional lyrics are really simpl, the construction of the song is really interesting. The production is super-stripped down and it's freaking amazing to hear Jimmy de Martini prominently featured again after he was barely heard on Jekyll + Hyde. The harmonies in the chorus are really strong and the song builds into a very pleasant instrumental and big chorus in the final 1:30.
How will this do on radio? I'm confident it will be accepted by radio and become a Top 5 hit despite being pretty slow and traditional. I think the emotion in the song will definitely connect with listeners. "My Old Man" has me very excited for Welcome Home.
This is track 6 of 10 on Welcome Home and is 3:47 long.

Just heard it in full and really liked it!
At first I was unsure it would go to a cheesy direction with the lyrics but the songs really grows as it goes and achieves a great result! Zac Brown's voice is beautiful here and the harmonies add a great touch in the chorus! I feel like is the type of song that will ultimately grab people by their heart even more than by their ears.

This is really good obviously, and a smart decision to use this as lead single. This will get a splashy debut regardless because they are ZBB with a lead single, so it will get a nice headstart. If the sales are strong, I can't see radio saying no to this one. The callout scores should do well, can't see it offending anybody. Could this finally be the song to get them an award at a country awards show?

On a side note, parthering with Elektra now makes way more sense given the Dave Cobb production (his LCS label is under Elektra).

This release is simply refreshing. Wow. It goes against the grain of every mainstream Country radio trend lately -- it's production is about as toned down as you can possibly get these days. The instrumentation is acoustic heavy. The lyrics are heartfelt and raw; with a relatable message that will resonate with most who hear it. I was hoping for just that after all the rumors and I'm happy that's what I got.
ZBB's lead singles usually perform well. I don't see this being as successful on the airplay charts as "Homegrown" was but I think this will be a pretty sizable hit for them at Country radio and I can certainly see it selling well.

WOW!!! This is probably the best Father's Day type of song I have heard in ages. Such a beautiful song, love it!!!
**I am crying because this song really touches me DEEPLY, thinking about my Dad, who don't have a good relationship with but I still love my old man.

Well, I still love the instrumental bit that was featured in the clip and I like that that continued in the last chorus. The chorus melody is really good, too. Otherwise, I'm conflicted. The first half of the song really doesn't do anything for me and I absolutely hate father/son songs, and this one is no exception. These lyrics are completely lost on me and really turn me off. Still don't like their vocals either, but the arrangement is nice. Not something I'd go out of my way to listen to, but it has it's good points for me, which is more than I can usually say about ZBB's music.

This is definitely one of the best singles they've put out in quite awhile. I looove the instrumentation and lyrics here. I feel like I'd be a huge fan of this if it were sung by a vocalist I enjoyed more, but as is, I think Zac Brown does a decent enough job of it and the harmonies when he sings with the BGVs are a highlight. If they could stick to stuff like this, I'd like them a lot more.

This song is beautiful! I love the production and Zac Brown sounds amazing and the harmonies are great. I pray that this song does amazing. I've always liked the Zac Brown Band as a whole and this song is one of their best singles since "Sweet Annie". Just something special about this song makes me love it! So happy to have these guys back.

Great emotion and the (lack of) production is perfect. The buildup is really executed nicely and I too felt teary by the end. From the admiration, to speaking of his son, then to hearing him want to make his dad proud as he looks down, it's got a strong feeling without being too nostalgic or sorrowful.

I like this, I don't love it, it's slightly to ham handed/treacly for me to elevate it from good to great. However I'm glad to see them returning to this sort of production style.
Am I the only one btw who feels like a lot of Cobb produced records lack up-tempo? (Sturgill aside obvs). Same for a lot of the albums that seem to draw from him (Miranda/Natalie). I will cry if we get nothing up-tempo from zbb.

Dave Cobb also produced Redneck Shit by: Wheeler Walker, Jr., aka the greatest country album of our time, and there were no ballads (though one or two were more downtempo).

Man what a beautiful song. When was the last time there was a song shipped to country radio without any drums/drum machines? :o

I really like this. I enjoyed most of their last album, but to me the ZBB really shine the most when they are stripped down, like this and "Highway 20 Ride". I'm glad that they're going with something like this as their lead single.

Oh my goodness, this is an exceptional song and quite possibly their finest single ever. Very moving lyrics, understated and very low-key production which allows for maximum emotional impact, and definitely a stop-you-in-your-tracks level of artistic excellence which has diminished substantially in today's era of bro-country pulp and drivel.
Definitely a number one single; the only question remains is how long will it rule the charts? At least a solid month if it were up to me.

If it does stay at the top for a month, it will match the Zac Brown Band's longest reign of Keep Me In Mind from late 2011-early 2012.

I think this can go to #1 but I don't see it staying there more than 1-2 weeks. Even a three-week #1 like "Homegrown" back in the spring of 2015 was a rare feat. Perhaps if this was 2007 it could but in 2017, unlikely.
