www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2004_09_16/bombscare.asp Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 Bomb Scare At KSRX (K-Rock) /San Antonio The Infinity Active Rocker had to be evacuated this morning and the bomb squad called after a visitor left a mysterious backpack in the lobby. According to KSRX MD/afternoon personality Mark Landis, a listener with a history of questionable mental stability somehow gained entrance to the lobby at 8:30 this morning, telling the person at the front desk he was there to pick up a prize. The visitor then demanded to speak with morning personality Kidd Chris. "He said he had a present for him," Landis tells R&R. When his demand to speak with Kidd Chris was denied, the visitor reportedly said something to the effect of "The police are going to have fun with this," dropped the backpack and fled the premises. "The police were called and the building was evacuated," says Landis. Then the bomb squad showed up. "All streets leading to the station were blocked off in every direction. Helicopters hovered overhead and news crews showed up," says Landis. Clustermate KTSA-AM broadcast live from its mobile truck while K-Rock was left on autopilot. Shortly thereafter, the mystery backpack was brought outside and blown up. No bomb was found, but the search is now on for the man who left it, who police say has a history of making repeated phone calls to the station and who recently set a small fire at KSRX. He now faces several charges, including making terrorist threats." Note from me: KSRX is on the Rock panel, not Active Rock.
