I would imagine she would be. I mean...even being nominated is an honor. I've never seen a scenario where someone got nominated for a major award and was like, "Nah...I don't accept this nomination!" But I don't think Lana ever thought she would get a grammy nom for an album ever because her albums aren't like... that pop.

Well it isn't her first... she was nominated for Paradise for Pop Vocal Album. I think Born to Die would've been her first had SNL hadn't gone so wrong.

Still happy for her but her best album is still Ultraviolence to me.

I still lowkey think her entire career would have gone differently if SNL hadn't gone so wrong, but she's been inarguably successful and her musical output is among the best of her generation so I guess I can't complain.

I don't think her music is the kind of music that would be making waves all over the world. She's a very unique artist and has a very defined and respectable fanbase, I don't think she could be any better.

I thought the same after I posted. It's usually whenever the Grammys come around that I'm reminded how undervalued she is.

they did her wrong on that cover - she looks like a character in a live action Dr. Suess adaptation
the rest of the shots; however, are lovely. wonderfully bewitching.

That last shot, in the white dress, she looks like a dead ringer for Priscilla Presley. And not the young, hot, fresh-off-marrying-Elvis version, either.

I wonder if the people who sued Radiohead over “Creep” and eventually received songwriting credit will also profit over this... 🤔
40% seems more than fair tbh.

Ugh. The chord Lana used is the same but does that mean she copied them? I mean, the I-III-IV-iv chord is used in a ton of songs. Get Free definitely sounds inspired in Creep but not even close to a copy. Anyway, if I was Lana I'd settle with an agreement and wouldn't let this go to court, it's an album track anyway...

Just heard about this this morning and they do sound eerily the same. But then Radiohead stole their's too.

I was going to say Radiohead better stop they stole from the Hollies. I think Lana offering them something they better take it because quite frankly they don’t deserve much coming after someone for the very same thing they did.

I definitely heard the similarities after listening to Lana's record but it does seem senseless and greedy and silly for them to be asking for 100% of the publishing behind an album track that supposedly copied a record they were famously accused of copying themselves.

So, it seems she may have jumped the gun (or exaggerated) regarding that lawsuit and 100% claim, as Radiohead's management has denied it. They have admitted that there are similiarities in the songs and that their people have been in contact with Lana's since last August but an actual lawsuit and demands of 100% publishing? Nah.

I saw this at the Lana reddit and it was too funny not to post:

In the end, I don't think Radiohead will sue her. It's funny because when I first heard Get Free I thought it sounded like something else and the fact that it does borrow heavily from a such a huge song, I was surprised I didn't catch it the first time around. I don't think anything was done on Lana's side on purpose though. I think that Radiohead is just outing the situation to the public to embarrass and try to taint her credibility a little but they won't sue.

I heard about similarities on some French forums, maybe someone even here mentioned, but I really could not hear it myself - til that video I posted.
This situation is really a mess to be honest. If things were going on behind the scenes since august, why she brought up all now? ( or that tabloid from uk is to blame)
Anyway, I am only worried that this will greatly affect her Grammy nomination (which I am 90% sure she will win). The tour is already affected, after 2 days ... Not buying flu thing.
She's not winning that Grammy, as much as she deserves it. Just being honest.

I'm not going to lie when I first year that song I started singing Creep. I honestly thought it was sampled. I am not surprised they were offering them a settlement and I think they probably think they have a solid case if they rejected it and went for more. That or they are just jerks I just wouldn't be surprised if they "win" this one. I am not as bothered at this stuff as other people there. I think that you can easily accidentally copy or just not realize it until it already happens.

I'm a little confused what singles were released from the album. Was it just Love and Lust for Life? I'm guessing White Mustang was just a music video.

Does anyone have a running list of the longest charting female albums of all time? I thought I had read that Born To Die is in the top 5.

Only three females have had an album chart for over 300 weeks: Lana with Born to Die, Carole King with Tapestry (318 weeks) and Adele's 21 (359 and counting).

That's amazing, I can't believe that album is still charting lol. It's fantastic, but she's outdone it nearly each time out since imo.

The singles got a lot of success so it makes sense to be this album to cross the 300 weeks. I agree most of her albums are better though!

If someone is going to spam an artist thread, they should at least do some basic fact checking. It took all of 2 seconds to learn that Honeymoon has been performed MULTIPLE times already and Diet Mtn Dew has been performed live since 2011. Old Money has also been performed live since at least 2014 LOL.

She looked absolutely stunning on the Red Carpet. It's a shame she didn't get that Grammy but the competition was fierce anyway. I do hope she comes out with something more challenging than the last record though. In spite of liking the album a lot I felt it was a little on the same vibe of Honeymoon. It'll be nice if she can step out of her comfort zone a bit like in Ultraviolence.
