Interested in what she's got to offer. Topping 1989 will be hard.

So if she really recorded with Drake, I'm anticipating how that is gonna sound.

Let's go, Taylor. I LOVE Red, really like Speak Now, and LOVE 1989 so I am ready.

Calling it, this thread is going to be more iconic than the '1989' and the 'Red' ones combined.
So excited!

I truly believe that Taylor has accomplished a feat that few artists can do - she improves with every album she releases. I thought she would find it very difficult to improve upon Red, but she managed to put out an even better album with 1989. I'll be overjoyed (but not necessarily surprised) if she can do it again. I have no reason to believe she'll do this, but I would love for her to release a double album - that would certainly be one way she could top herself.

Last week Blank Space because the first video by a female to pass 2,000,000,000 views. Today, Shake It Off also passes 2 billion views, and makes her the first artist (male or female) to have two videos over that mark.

She filed several trademarks regarding the term 'Swifties'. At first, it was believed to be related to streaming, but it may actually be connected to a future mobile app.

This is the first time I'm anticipating a TS album. I hope she holds nothing back and goes full-on bitchy mode. I want her look to be extra cold. Short platinum bob, a bra, a leather short, high boots and a choker. K tnx pls.

And please... no hip hop on the album or guest rap stars.

I want this too but I feel like she'll come a bit softer, somewhere between Red and 1989. I'm not expecting another huge Max Martin pop extravaganza (although I wouldn't be mad at that) but something more layered and nuanced.

She became the first to have two videos with over 2 bilion views in Youtube a day or two ago. Nice achievement.

Back to country, apparently. Although I am sceptical. Didn't think she would go back to country for several years. Would be stoked if it's true though! link

That would be amazing but somehow I just can't believe it. I can't see her rejecting the additional fame and fortune and living out the final verse of "The Lucky One".

I'm definitely here for a country album if songs are as good as "Better Man."

Not here for country (I'd love a song or two in the vein of Begin Again though) but definitely not here for 1989 part 2 either. I want a Loud from her, a collection of different genres but still somehow making them all fit in with each other. I've been dying to hear her version of This Is What You Came For ever since her isolated vocals leaked so an EDM track would be sublime + some other sounds she hasn't done yet which wouldn't be that difficult to achieve since she hasn't done anything outside of country-pop and pure pop.

Recording in Nashville = going back to country? lol
This is the actual quote: "According to the source, the "Shake It Off" singer has been figuring out what the sound and feel of her new album is going to be, and whether or not she wants to continue in the pop genre that propelled her last album to record-shattering success, or return to her beloved country roots."
So... nobody knows anything.

Yeah I wouldn't mind 2-3 country songs, but a full country album. Nope. not hear for this. And would country radio even accept her again? Country radio is very sexist and they don't like their beloved female country artists venturing out. Every single one that goes pop for too long has been punished by the industry. Taylor has enough fans and fame that she could easily go platinum without country radio support, but the album wouldn't have legs. And top 40 is not going to support a country record to that extent. She'd need to pull a Shania Twain and remix all those songs to fit pop or other formats.

Taylor hit 100 million followers on Instagram...1989 days (exactly) after her first post.
Third person to get to this mark after Selena and Ariana, but she posts significantly less (like, she's posted once in the past two months to promote Lorde and Ariana has posted 90 times in the past month) so it's pretty impressive.

There have been rumors of her doing a Hip Hop/Trap styled album with collaborations with Drake, Deej Loaf, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. Get ready for the ratchet-ization and eroticization of Taylor.

Yeah nobody thinks this is happening, expects it to happen, or wants it to happen except for you. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't do a straight Pop album in the vein of 1989 again, but considering how she was upfront about wanting to make an album she thought was better, I don't think a quasi-inverse version of Red fits that definition either. That said, I won't be surprised if the first single is slower than most people expect. There's only so many ways you can throw curveballs as the projects go on, and she likes doing that with her leads.

BTW, that whole "country" album thing started with Entertainment Tonight (and other outlets are using them as the source)...and ET's "source" wasn't a source at all and posted on twitter about it.
So basically, the media is thirsty for any new Taylor information and has resorted to making stuff up because she's in hiding.

Don't be surprised if it's Taylor's PR machine that's strategically leaking fake news to keep her relevant until the single drops. And there is ZERO chance she'll go back to country - she may have a country influenced track or two but I doubt country radio would take her back willingly.

I would like one totally country song on the record. Pop albums have a lot of genre versatility nowadays, and ironically, it would be a very pop thing to do.

for well established artists like Taylor are given more freedom to record what they want unless it's something the label is completely against

I'm pretty sure the country thing is just a rumour to built anticipation, I expect this album to dip on a bit more pop alt sounds, with maybe a couple of songs "acoustically sounding" and a couple of "hit sounding" ones. If she is going with the "August lead single" schedule there is still a couple more months of "silence"/speculation before we actually know, but I seriously doubt a country album at this stage of her career.
