Didnโt her deal with BM also include rights to issue a GH set? Or did that get swapped for reputation? Since BM owns the masters, I wonder how theyโll try to maximize her work for their profits. I'd be very curious to see how a GH would perform for her. On the one hand GH do almost nothing now and are really no different from a playlist, but on the other hand Taylor's fans are so passionately devoted to her that a well-promoted GH with some bonuses could still be a huge success for her and perhaps a decent catalog seller.

I feel like a GH would have made more sense after Red to bookend her career as a country artist before she made the full-time jump to pop superstardom. The idea of a GH is also kind of archaic in the streaming era, but she certainly has a wealth of b-sides and rarities that they could tack on to make a GH more appealing.

Greatest hits are mostly dead, but Iโm convinced Taylor could have a strong greatest hits showing. She could release 2 20track greatest hits albums, one that caters to country & one to pop. 18 returning songs and two new singles for each format. Then because Taylor makes incredible money there could be an ultimate package which would count as a double album (or triple if thatโs a thing & appropriate, and include all the songs plus the extra ones I listed at the bottom)
Country: Tim McGraw Teardrops of my guitar Our song Picture to burn Shouldโve said no Love story White horse You belong with me Fifteen Fearless Mine Back to December Mean Sparks fly Ours Begin again Red Highway donโt care
Pop: Love story You belong with me Fifteen Mine Back to December The story of us We are never getting back together I knew you were trouble 22 Everything has changed Shake it off Blank space Wildest dreams Bad blood Style Look what you made me do Ready for it Delicate
Extra: Eyes open All too well Forever & always Iโm only me when Iโm with you Youโre not sorry Crazier Two is better than one Both of us Today was a fairytale I donโt wanna live forever Out of woods New Romantics Welcome to New York End game Safe & sound
Wow this woman has been crazy successful

ITA on GHโs being less relevant in streaming era, but thereโs a lot of TS songs that never made it on her proper albums so it would be interesting. The bottom line is that BMโs job is to find ways to utilize her catalog for more $$$ - especially after a commercially viable artist leaves the label. No way they are just going to sit still. Repacking/repurposing a catalog is a huge profit maker because the cost of packaging and marketing is quite small. The question is whether Taylorโs input will be sought. Considering her fanbase, it would be wise to have TSโs seal of approval because itโd be disastrous for Taylor to disavow.

A greatest hits album doesn't make any sense in the streaming age and she has stated on her Instagram post that streaming is a BIG priority for her now. I'd not be surprised if she had some sort of deal with Spotify & Apple Music for the 1st week of the album. The industry is changing and thankfully she noticed it.

There's no point at all for a GH set now. She's one of the few acts whose back catalog does well, especially on streaming. A GH set would just siphon off those streams, which could then be used for re-certifying those albums anyway, rendering the whole undertaking irrelevant.

The best thing Big Machine could do is release a rarities album or better yet box set with demos and unreleased tracks. That would be a big seller. If they are allowed to release such a thing.

I guess a lot of the early unreleased demos that we are aware of the existence of are from pre-Big Machine days and probably leaked by RCA or from early demo CDs from when she was shopping around for a label? But yeah, she must have hundreds more unreleased songs from her Big Machine days. According to her, she had 200 songs written by 2006, that means she'd have about 1000 unreleased songs by now if she kept going at that rate.

Even if they are allowed I think they can only pull it if they get Taylor to agree with it. If Taylor is unhappy with her earlier stuff being released it could backfire and ending up not making them any significant amount of money.

And with her "flop" era she walks away with the #1 best-selling album of the year, is the biggest female artist of the year, has the highest-grossing U.S. tour of all time, and places top 10 on year-end pop radio, and top 25 on year-end Hot 100, and also had a three-week #1 hit.
I hope she flops next time around too. Haha

She made a surprise appearance at Ally Coalition in NYC to perform Delicate with Hayley Kiyoko (and the crowd did "1,2,3 lets go bitch")

Only one Grammy nomination for pop album. Completely snubbed; the Grammys are canceled.

Eh. I don't think it's so bad. I'm glad she's at least being recognized for the body of work as opposed to just a single.

Were we really expecting a lot of nominations though? I mean this hasn't exactly been a blockbuster performer (single wise and in relation to her last efforts that were largely recognized by the Grammys).

I'm more upset at Delicate not getting anything then the AOTY omission.

I was expecting at least a nom for Delicate and the fact that she got snubbed for AOTY when they even increased the number of noms is just tragic In what world is a basic ass song like The Middle more deserving of SOTY than Delicate? lol
