No word yet if this will make it onto The Search For Everything or one of the follow-up Wave EPs, but Sheryl Crow recently posted that she sang on a John Mayer song; Steve Jordan, who performs on each of their upcoming albums, is also involved. https://www.instagram.com/p/BRJR1NFhWuA

This is "In The Blood," one of the new tracks on the full album – Sheryl isn't given feature credit and only sings harmonies on the later choruses.

Wow - following unsolicited airplay by Bobby Bones and SiriusXM The Highway, "In The Blood" has been serviced to country radio through PlayMPE by Columbia Nashville/Arista Nashville.

You have got to be kidding me. This song is decent, but I really don't want to see John Mayer on the country charts unless he wants to pursue country music

If I want "white guy with guitar" country music, I'll listen to "Die a Happy Man", thank you very much.

This isn't even one of my favorites on the album, and he's done country-tinged music better.

I like this a fair bit, but I agree, he's had better country songs. In particular, "You're No One Til Someone Lets You Down" from his last album should have been a country single over this one.

I don't know something about this reaction I both agree with but I also find hilarious.. Also this debuted at #59 tonight on Billboard and pushed "Act Like You Don't" off the chart tonight

I literally didn't factor this in my predictions as I thought it was a joke. Or you know I thought Brooke Eden was gonna hang on since you know she got 12 adds this week (Yay). This should not last long and the sooner this leaves the better.

Oh, well then, you all won't be thrilled to know this got a full-page ad in tonight's Country Aircheck too.

Even with the full page, I doubt radio is gonna want to play this song all that much. Or at least I hope. The charts are clogged enough as it is! I believe we don't need this in the charts and hopefully this can die real soon. I

Aside from my distaste for John Mayer himself, musically I find him unlistenable. I don't like his songs or his voice. Really talented guy, but not my cup of tea at all. I won't be able to handle him in country music ugh. Hopefully this doesn't become a thing.

Wow, I'm surprised at the hate at this charting. I understand his personality draws a lot of criticism and he's taking a chart spot from an actual country artist, but this song is lyrically better than almost every song on the country chart right now. I'd be perfectly happy with this doing well on the charts.

With artists like Darius Rucker, Jewel, and Sheryl Crow making forays into country music over the years, this move for John Mayer doesn't really surprise me. Also in regards to the song, I think this is really good! I'm totally okay with this being something of a hit on country radio.

This song actually adds some decency into the charts. Others can stay fuming.

Personally I can't stand John Mayer, but if I'm just judging this off the song - I quite like it and think it sounds just fine as a country single. It's certainly more country than half of what's coming out of Nashville right now. To me it's no different than when Uncle Kracker shipped "Smile" to country, though i highly doubt this does as well on the charts.

I'm not sure about for radio given what tends to be prevailing these days from a lot of the guys But I do rather like this song just treating it on its own merits. eta: the cover art is creepy however

Normally I can't stand John Mayer, as I find his voice to be nails on a chalkboard. But this isn't bad. Not something I will go out of my way to hear, but I wouldn't change the station if it came on.
Personally, I don't have an issue with outside acts charting on Country charts as long as their not doing it to be "hip" or because their career was dead on another format, so they give country music a chance (Ex: Steven Tyler). There's plenty of rock songs the past few years that could have charted well on country IMO. Kind of hard to argue something like this shouldn't get played on country radio when "The Fighter" is nearing top 10.

I don't care what name is attached to any song... if it's country and sounds good to my ears, I like it.
That having been said, this is more country than most of the stuff being released to country radio. Good for John Mayer...hope this is a hit.

Yeah this is miles more country than some of the releases from those supposedly "carrying the flag" for the genre, so maybe it's a wake-up call for those folks.
That being said, the most irritating thing is the day The Highway started playing it, I literally heard it four times in like 2 hours (and Storme wet his pants every time about it). It's cool you wanna play it, but how about giving some love to Josh Turner and Kacey Musgraves and Craig Campbell and whoever else you CHOOSE to neglect before bending over backwards for someone who has no background and has put no work into the genre. If you like him so much go buy his CD.

Not a Mayer fan, and looks like he's searching for a spot since pop kicked him out. No idea how this qualifies as "country". On the other hand you could say that about a lot of songs currently at country radio, and this isn't terrible.
Bring on our genre-les overlords I guess.

Bit random but Sara Evans dropped that John Mayer is her favorite artist in her live video w/ Cracker Barrel yesterday.

Aaron Watson did a great version of Mayer's Wildfire on his last album. Very country IMO
