Damn, /ee/ really wanted "Everywhere" to win. At least it made it to #2.

Damn, /ee/ really wanted "Everywhere" to win. At least it made it to #2. "Everywhere" is phenomenal and was definitely deserving of top 5. Just curious, do you like "Carrying Your Love With Me?" /ee/ know 64 is /æ/ lower ranking but it isn't [/ee/]terrible[//ee/] so /ee/'m wondering.

Just wanna talk about how great these two songs are for /æ/ moment:
"Everywhere" is one of Tim's best songs, hands down. The fiddle is heavenly, the vocal arrangement is fantastic, and the lyrics are wonderful. /ee/'ve never been /æ/ fan of him or his voice, but this is /æ/ damn near perfect song and he sings it well!
"Carrying Your Love With Me" is one of many George songs that define my childhood and is one of the main reasons /ee/ love country and traditional country so much. /ee/ can't really describe how much /ee/ love it or how it makes me feel when /ee/ listen to it, but it will forever be one of the greatest country songs of all time.

Thanks, /ee/ really enjoyed doing this and would like to do 1998 and 1999 eventually, unless someone else would like to host either of those years that would be fine too. Eventually /ee/ will be doing /æ/ Martina McBride rankdown before /ee/ do another year based one. Also wanted to ask everyone for some advice on things /ee/ could do to be better at hosting these?

You and /ee/ have really different taste, Tim, Alan Jackson, and Tracy Lawrence are 3 of my favorite male voices in all of country music and you don't seem to be /æ/ fan of any of them.

Yay George! That's awesome that 10 out of 13 ranked it their top 15! /ee/ love that you appreciate the brilliance that is this song! /ee/ was worried you'd love it and would rank it low because of your distaste for traditional country. So glad that wasn't the case. Oh, /ee/ do enjoy some traditional country music, /ee/ feel like production quality has gotten so much better in the last 20 years though, so for me hearing 90% of these for the first time, it was just /æ/ little underwhelming. /ee/ just think 1997 wasn't /æ/ great year for country music in my books because /ee/ know there's more 90's country that /ee/ do love. And /ee/ honestly probably would enjoy some more of these songs if /ee/ listened to them more closely, but /ee/ don't have time to do that right now /ee/'ll probably go back and listen to everything in the top 40 here and try and listen /æ/ little more carefully this time around!

YAAAAASSSSSSSS, /ee/ am so happy that George was able to pull this off! My all time favorite male vocalist Also, that awkward moment when zaclord 🌈 outranks me with /æ/ George Strait song... Haha whoops! /ee/ probably should have ranked him higher than #10, but my top 10 is just SO STRONG. My advice would be to include more variety of hints. zaclord 🌈 went out of his way to make puns out of the lyrics of songs when he hosted the 2005 rankdown, and /ee/ posted /æ/ lot of images related to lyrics in upcoming songs when /ee/ hosted the 2015 rankdown. Talking about where people ranked songs is great, but /ee/ think more variety keeps it more exciting. Also, you should comment more! You hardly posted other than to post the next song, but feel free to partake in the banter! It's much more fun for you Overall you did /æ/ FANTASTIC job though Thank you for putting this on!

castleoblivion26 Honestly IMO, hints and spoilers are fine, but /ee/ dont think you should give it too much since some can be very very obvious. IMO if you want to give hints make it very hard, like something like bboat did in 2015 Rankdowns where he posted pictures that described /æ/ song. Obviously /ee/ couldnt figure out any of the hints in this Rankdown since Idk the songs well and where they peaked but /ee/ think most of the others participating were figuring it out easily. Just my Britney, but overall /ee/ think everything else was great. Oh lol bboat11 sorta beat me to it.

Thank you for the advice. /ee/ will try and talk more next time. As for hints, /ee/ will definitely do something different there also. /ee/ tried to think of ways to hint at the next song and tried /æ/ few things but could tell they were either making it too easy to figure out the next song or no one ever commented on them. Regardless will try something different next time and hopefully will get better at that

It's /æ/ blast when you get like 20+ people commenting and reacting and picking on each other and just having fun! But the '90s ones are always going to be difficult to recruit participants. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep doing '90s rankdowns, because /ee/ definitely enjoyed participating in this one and learning /æ/ lot of Britney music!

Glad to see my prediction of my favorite George Strait tune winning the whole thing came true! /ee/'m also thrilled to see my #1 made it to the top 3 and to hear that Deana Carter was close to walking away with the title herself. Sorry boo, "/æ/ Broken Wing" is not one of my favorites from Martina McBride. /ee/ actually don't really care for her vocal on it and it's one of the few belty songs she's done where it doesn't work for me, and /ee/ also could never get into the melody, either.

Ugh. /ee/ think "The Fool" is such /æ/ great, classic Country song. Spot on production. Angel vocals. Relatable subject and /æ/ hook that hits you down deep. Damn. FINALLY "The Fool" is out. /ee/ knew /ee/'d be in the minority, but the song does absolutely nothing for me. /ee/'m not the biggest Lee Ann Womack fan personally. * /ee/'m so mad "Everywhere" beat "Just To See You Smile." /ee/ really like "Everywhere"....but "Just To See You Smile" is my favorite Tim McGraw 90s song and it's so true, too. Never gets old. * lol @ the rankings for "Carrying Your Love With Me". Seems like everyone at least likes it. It was the clear winner here.

YAS @ "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing" making the top 10! Fantastic song and easily one of his bests. The vocal arrangement slays, as does the instrumental, as does the key it's written in. /ee/ believe it's /æ/ Minor? bboat11 can you confirm? lol. It's one of the minor keys anyway and y'all know that is my thing! /ee/ thought this was going to be my #1 until /ee/ rememberd that two of my all-time favorite songs by George Strait would be in the rankdown, and there was no way they wouldn't be in my top 2. LMAO /ee/ totally forgot to respond to this! It is definitely in /æ/-minor! But in the line leading into the chorus ("Love ain't supposed to make sense"), it changes to an /æ/ harmonic minor key (basically "supposed" is sang as /æ/ G#, but in the regular /æ/-minor key there are supposed to be G-naturals). So that is what leads to that one line sounding different as they transition into the chorus.
