"Cold Day In July" is absolutely gorgeous and it is a travesty that this missed the top 10. A travesty I say!!! The Brazilian Guy π§π· I feel your pain but at least I'm not the only one who lost their #2. I feel for the rest of you that ranked this in your top 10 as well. Y'all deserved better.

11. Without YouPoints: 523 Average Rank: 13 SD: 8.7298 Album: Fly Release Date: August 9, 2000 Writer(s): Natalie Maines & Eric Silver Producer(s): Blake Chancey & Paul Worley Charts:U.S. Country: #1 Billboard Hot 100: #31 "Without You" is a song written by Eric Silver and Natalie Maines, and recorded by American country music group Dixie Chicks. It was released in August 2000 as the fifth single from their album Fly. In January 2001, it hit number one on the U.S. country singles chart.[1] It also reached number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Written by lead singer Natalie Maines and country songwriter Eric Silver, "Without You" is on the surface one of the Chicks' more conventional efforts, lacking the "attitude" factor that distinguished them at the time. A ballad that directly speaks of lost love I thought by now the time, Would take away these lonely tears. I hope you're doing fine all alone, But where do I go from here, 'cause β Without you, I'm not okay And without you, I've lost my way My heart's stuck in second place Ooo - ooo Without you ... It was accompanied by acoustic guitar and soft percussion at the start, adding drums on the chorus, pedal steel guitar into the bridge and a dramatic strings part out of the bridge and into the last chorus, before finishing as it started. The tender melody is sung by Maines without excessive ornamentation, and the harmonies from Emily Robison and Martie Seidel are unobtrusive. "Without You" was performed on the Chicks' 2000 Fly Tour, but generally not on subsequent tours.

I liked Without You a lot at the time but it just kind of sunk do their better songs before and since. It's still a nice song though! I actually think I prefer Natalie's solo Without You to it though.

"Without You" is an amazing song but it's the music video that really makes the song a masterpiece.

So we have our top 10! 02. There's Your Trouble 03. Wide Open Spaces 04. You Were Mine 06. Ready To Run 07. Cowboy Take Me Away 08. Goodbye Earl 14. Long Time Gone 15. Landslide 16. Travelin' Soldier 20. Not Ready To Make Nice 17 of us still have their #1! 5 of us have bottom 5's left. So any predictions on how things will play out? Any surprises in what did and didn't make it? Who's losing their #1 with the next song out? Also congrats to raylatch98 & Troublemaker for having the most top 10's left with 8/10!

I keep having to check my pm to remember how I ranked things because I love everything! It sure doesn't feel like I've lost 6 of my top 10 songs.
You Were Mine is maybe the most surprising top 10 song to me, inasmuch as one can call it surprise. With the way things were going leading up to the top 10, I would have guessed it would go out in the top 15, like Cold Day in July and Without You, and that Sin Wagon would have made top 10 instead. Hard to predict such a stacked set but I'll take a stab at guessing the top 5, in no particular order:
Ready To Run Cowboy Take Me Away Goodbye Earl Long Time Gone Travelin' Soldier

Welp, I guess that's how you lose your #3 and #2 back to back. If you need me, I'll be grieving.

Well, this video has "down" in the title, which also happens to be the same direction that the landslide brought Natalie... Or, because you are directing a hint towards me after I lost my 3 and 2 back to back, maybe my #1 is coming next :o >

10. You Were MinePoints: 532 Average Rank: 13 SD: 8.7298 Album: Wide Open Spaces Release Date: December 7, 1998 Writer(s): Martie Maguire & Emily Robison Producer(s): Blake Chancey & Paul Worley Charts:U.S. Country: #1 Billboard Hot 100: #34 "You Were Mine" is a song recorded by American country music group Dixie Chicks. It was released in December 1998 as the fourth single from the album Wide Open Spaces.[1] The song hit number one on the U.S. Country singles chart, spending two weeks there in March 1999.[1] It also placed 34th on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop singles chart, and reached third place on Canada's country music chart.
The song was written in 1995 by two of the founders of the original Dixie Chicks band, the Erwin sisters,[2] who were not strangers to writing music and performing (they are now known as Martie Maguire and Emily Robison). Robison wrote most of the song, and Maguire supplied the bridge. It is a very autobiographical song, about the breakup of Robison's and Maguire's parents and their subsequent divorce. In one interview, when asked about it, Robison said that their parents generally "sweep it under the rug", saying, "They know it's about them, but [whispers] we never talk about it. [laughs] They don't want to bring it up because they're still weird around each other. My dad doesn't want to think it's about him, because it doesn't make him look very good, and my mom thinks she's moved on."[3] "You Were Mine" was a key factor in the events that brought the Dixie Chicks from near total obscurity to massive commercial success. Based on a recommendation from session musician and producer Lloyd Maines, in the summer of 1995 the Erwin sisters invited Maines' daughter Natalie Maines, to return to her home in Lubbock, Texas to sing the lead vocal on a demo recording of the song, rather than using the Chicks' actual lead vocalist Laura Lynch to sing the part.[2] At the time, the sisters told the other supporting musicians that this was only because Lynch was unavailable due to being out of town on a personal matter.[2] In reality, the recording convinced both Natalie Maines that she would be comfortable singing a more pop and country rock focused format of country material (as opposed to their past purer bluegrass focus),[4] and at the same time, confirmed what both sisters had suspected; that Maines had a powerful versatile voice that could complement their instrumental prowess. It led the sisters to remove Lynch and replace her with Maines. When recording for the first-Maines-era album Wide Open Spaces began, "You Were Mine" was the only song the band was certain would be included.[4] The recording has a solid country music sound. From the start, until the last strains of the song, Maguire's violin draws out a hushed, somewhat sorrowful tune. A dose of Lloyd Maines' steel guitar in the background β which also helped establish the record's traditional country categorization[4] β and the mixture of Maines' vocals with the sisters' harmony set a tone of loss and regret. "You Were Mine" was performed during the group's 2000 Fly Tour, where Rolling Stone called Maines' "powerhouse, nail-it-to-the-wall perfect delivery of [the] achingly beautiful weeper" one of the highlights of the show,[5] but was not performed again until the Long Time Gone Tour in 2013.

I have my 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 22 left. I expect my 22 to make it top 5 and be a contender for #1 but I do hope it doesn't get #1. The rest of the songs are all amazing. The entire top 12 is amazing, even 22 tbh. Sad that "Without You" and "Cold Day In July" missed top 10 because I love both songs but not entirely surprised either.
My thinking on the remaining 9: 9 - Landslide 8 - There's Your Trouble 7 - Ready To Run 6 - Long Time Gone 5 - Goodbye Earl 4 - Wide Open Spaces 3 - Travelin' Soldier 2 - Cowboy Take Me Away 1 - Not Ready to Make Nice
tbh though I really don't know what people think so I'll probably be completely off but this is what I'm going with

The top 10 is nearly flawless! As sad as I am that some of my favs didn't make it in, looking at that list, there isn't a single song on there I'd argue against having a placement in the top 10. You Were Mine was my #13 and that song wouldn't be out of place if it were top 5! The only one I'd swap out would be Landslide but that was their only pop hit so I can't argue against why it's in there too. The downside to having so many great songs is that you can only fit 10 in the top 10.

I really wanted Cold Day In July to make the Top 10, but otherwise everything but Long Way Around I expected to be out by now. So I am happy with what is left even if there is one song I would like to exit swiftly next.

Can "Not Ready To Make Nice" please NOT be #1 tho?
Good song but 10x weaker than most of the remaining songs.

I'd love to see Long Time Gone take the surprise #1 tbh. The only one I'd really be opposed to getting it is Landslide.

My prediction:
9. There's Your Trouble 8. Ready To Run 7. Landslide 6. Goodbye Earl 5. Long Time Gone 4. Travelin' Soldier 3. Wide Open Spaces 2. Cowboy Take Me Away 1. Not Ready to Make Nice
I think the winner will be between Wide Open, Cowboy, or Nice.
And I love everything left except "Goodbye Earl" so the sooner that one goes the better. It's alright and a funny song, but it's never been a favorite and it's definitely overrated imo.
