That pic above is indeed from the Life's About To Get Good video. Out tomorrow! SHe looks adorable! I am so excited. Also, it's amazing that Shania can come back and still lyrically sound like herself but adapt to the current sound too! I am loving Poor Me, I can't stop listening, and sounding a little like a Chainsmokers song while still true to Shania shows she knows what she's doing. Love her so much.

Her team is dropping the ball. Why isn't she everywhere? It's her first album in 15 years.

Her team is dropping the ball. Why isn't she everywhere? It's her first album in 15 years. I've been following this campaign all year, and I must disagree. Between Stagecoach, and the Today show in the US to launch the single, she has done massive amounts of promo, especially in Canada. Every day I have been finding videos on YouTube of Shania doing the Canadian talk show circuit, radio interviews, the glorious drunken interview at the Nashville hockey game, posters and billboards EVERYWHERE (I'm in NYC) active engagement on social media, a country single followed by a pop promo single (the phenomenal Poor Me)... she's in her 50s. It's not going to be as in your face as some artists, but she's totally been trying, at least in my opinion. **edit: Bitch even has a hashtag! Queen of the 90s has been pulled into the new millennium. #SUMMEROFSHANIA

The extreme lack of views for the video so far is really sad.

Poor Me is incredible! Very clever. I'm excited for this album. Her voice definitely sounds different...huskier...but it's not bad. I still hear the old Shania in there.

Not a single exclamation point, question mark, or word in parentheses on this album's entire track listing. I'm concerned.
(Kidding lol)

Music Week is an industry magazine in the UK (similar to Music Row). It's a very interesting read on her team's overall game plan for the next album. I'm posting highlights here because I feel it's important for those curious about her sales to read this, that won't venture to the album thread. I couldn't screenshot the article because they cleverly have it locked. (BTW...Shania is on the cover of the newest issue - July 31 - and the four page spread includes two new photos) Here are my highlights: - The interview was more about Shania and provided comments from her team (manager Scott Quest, label head Cindy Mabe, international marketing VP at Virgin Entertainment. I can't think of his name) and a few comments from Shania. - It sounds like they are/will be putting most of their eggs in the Shania name basket. - They have no expectation for this album to reach anywhere near the sales of previous records. And the best part is Shania said that when she is asked how successful she think the album will be, her response in return is that it doesn't matter. The fact is: the success is that the album actually got done. - Shania's manager said we almost didn't get the album until late next year but they had to stop her writing process to see if they had quality material for the album. Soon after, the label and her management realized they definitely had a quality Shania album on their hands. - They are also not focused on digital sales but more of how the physical album will sell. They said that they will slowly focus on digital sales and the streaming aspect on the next few albums. - For album promotion their focus is Canada, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Tokoyo - all the major places she had success with "UP!" - There will only be one version of the album (not three like "UP!") - Her manager describes NOW as primarily a pop album with only a few country touches and adding that Nashville is more of their last resort in terms of pleasing the country industry with this album. (But he also said COO was primarily pop, so that's something to keep in mind). - She WILL be featured in all the big name magazines and billboards in NYC come September. - Overall, they have created a rollout plan for the album that is not conventional but one that will still have Shania selling albums. Everyone agreed, Shania is doing this now because she enjoys it not because she is concerned about the numbers aspect. Those days are behind her and the industry as a whole. - While Shania LOVES streaming, it's her team's secondary approach in releasing the album, and their first soft attempt at reaching a younger generation which she is still interested in doing. Since posting these highlights in the "Country" forum, a Shania fan site has scanned the four page spread.

I'm worried now cause Miley is also releasing her album on September 29th. I wanted Shania to get that number one.

I understand where you are coming from (same sentiments here) but I think in the long run Shania should focus on longetivity in terms of sales because most country singers don't do well in terms of streaming.

I just got an e-mail from Spotify, inviting me to an exclusive first listen of the new album next week on Thursday, 8/17 in NYC. It's not made clear if Shania will actually be there though, so I sent them an e-mail. I don't think I can make it anyway because of work though! FML :(

She performed "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed" on Fallon. The multiple negative comments hurt.

She performed "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed" on Fallon. The multiple negative comments hurt. what comments? YouTube comments? Lol as if those children could ever have the right to judge one thing about Shania... don't let it hurt. She's fine. Edit: just watched the performance... in what universe could you find a fault?! That was my first time hearing the song and I'm floored! The fiddles! The hooks on hooks! The chorus just keeps going. She looked amazing, and had her usual Shania tone! She was never a vocal powerhouse. Simple and sweet.

I think she may have lip synced the verses. The chorus is live.
I am really trying with this one but it is just not working for me. "Life's About To Get Good" worked because she has so much fun with it (plus all the anticipation for it and the amazing video), and "Poor Me" is excellent, but this one is really bad. I am not digging the reggae vibe nor the lyrics, and the anthemic chorus is so out of place after the verses and feels so disconnected to the subject matter. Life is short, summer is here I AM SWINGING WITH MY EYES CLOSED....what are you swinging at? Did all those beers from the first verse get to you? I am just lost. I am assuming she is saying she is attacking the Summer unafraid of what is ahead but its just not a strong song. I am not feeling this one, lol.
Luckily all the other clips have sounded stellar, so I am positive the album is going to deliver.

I got the feeling she was lipping the verses as well. It sounded like her GMA performance..which I also thought was lipped. I LOVE Shania but I wont lie. Im also not feeling SWMEC either, I do like the chorus but it doesnt fit with the rest of the song. I felt the same way about Dua Lipa and Sean Paul's "No Lie." Either way, Im excited to hear the album. Im hoping for a few good tracks. I have a feeling she doesnt LOVE this album and thats why shes already thinking about the next one.

So, I ended up getting to go to the Spotify listening party for "Now" and I literally just met Shania and had her sign my arm since I had nothing else with me!
I'm in such awe that I'm even having a hard time remembering all of the songs/lyrics, but I will post a more in-depth review later. Her songwriting is on a whole new level with this album, so I'm not bothered by the lyrics of LATGG or SWMEC. The studio version of SWMEC is slightly more country as it has some more prominent steel guitar, but it's still a fun song and definitely single-worthy.
