Amazing. I Was Wrong is incredible. So is Death Row. Everything is great here.
How do I rank these 9 great songs??
1. I Was Wrong (best vocal performance to date) 2. Death Row (such a haunting vibe) 3. Either Way 4. Them Stems 5. Broken Halos 6. Up To No Good Livin' 7. Without Your Love 8. Second One To Know 9. Last Thing I Needed

With the talk of critical acclaim, even though I also love Stapleton, there's always a feeling in the back of my mind that says "maybe this won't be as good as I feel it is or will be"...nope, I love this album. The vocals, production, guitars and arrangement are so well done it's ridiculous.
I'm surprised "Either Way" is the first radio single but considering the roll-out of the album, it makes sense they would try one of the least radio-tailored tracks as the lead single lol. It's a great song though and another superb vocal performance.
I love love love "Up To No Good Livin'." The heavy steel guitars, melody and vocals are awesome, I can't get enough. It sounds like a track a traditional minded artist from the early-to-mid 2000s would record but here you get Chris performing it. I don't predict it sees radio but one can hope.
Other favorites are "Broken Halos", "I Was Wrong", "Without Your Love" and "Them Stems." I probably would've picked "Broken Halos" or "Second One To Know" for the first single if I was UMG but whatever, it's Stapleton and I still think they're just going ahead with the "we'll do whatever we damn well please with radio and the album drop roll-out, thank you"...lol
I've been listening to this the past hour though.

I actually like quite a few of the songs! The vocals are another story, though. I know he's really talented, but his voice is absolute murder on my ears.

Great album. "Either Way" is definitely one of my least favorites on it though.

I'm half way through so far, and "Up to No Good Livin" is my favorite. But very good so far, as expected.

I'm really loving this. I do wish the album was a little longer, but with Volume 2 coming I really can't complain.
Ranking time:
"Either Way" "Up To No Good Livin'" "I Was Wrong" "Second One To Know" "Broken Halos" "Death Row" "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning" "Without Your Love" "Them Stems"
I also fully support "Either Way" as the lead single. If Chris and his team knew they'd be getting hourly airplay, why not pick a song that radio would never put into high rotation otherwise? Plus it's one of his wife's favorites and it's selling fantastically right now: #17 all-genre on iTunes. A+ pick. It's asinine that Chris was forced to play an uptempo at the ACM Awards when he could have blown everyone away if he performed this.
I can see "Broken Halos" and "Without Your Love" being singles, with #1 potential for "Broken Halos. It also wouldn't surprise me to see "Second One To Know" or even "Up To No Good Livin'" as singles if they're feeling extra risky.

I'm loving this. I picked it up earlier today, and I've listened to it 3 times already. He has a really solid set of songs here.

From A Room: Volume 1 will obviously debut at #1 on the country albums chart, and if projections hold, Traveller will be the #2 country album next week. Pretty incredible. Hopefully Chris tops Logic for #1 on the Billboard 200 as well.

This is a really really good album, and it will probably end up in my top 5 albums of the year, but overall I'd say its a step down from Traveller. Now a big reason for that is because Traveller is a near flawless debut album, one of the best of all time in my opinion. No matter what, it was always going to be hard for Chris to match the level of that one. Another reason why I liked Traveller better is because there was more variety in the tempo it seemed. If I had one critique of From A Room: Volume 1, its that there's not enough midtempo and uptempo songs. Now, there's only 9 songs on this one, so that does skew the data a bit, but I would have liked to seen more tempo with this album. It's very possible we could see that though with the second part of this album, and it will make this point moot.
"Broken Halos" is probably my favorite song on the album. Good strong midtempo with lots of traditional flair. If you could describe a perfect song, that'd pretty much be my description. I also love "Them Stems", "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning", and "I Was Wrong". "Either Way" is about in the middle tier, while "Second One To Know" might be my least favorite. I really hope that "Broken Halos" is the second single, but who knows if we will even get one if a second album is getting released later this year. "Either Way" could spend a lot time on the charts because its so slow, and I just don't see radio moving that one up quickly.

I think this is the front runner to win Best Country Album at the Grammy's next year. It'll be a tight race between Chris and Miranda, but I give a slight edge to Chris.

Until we knew what category Sturgill was submitting to last year, Eric Church was a safe bet. It's not like i'm expecting Chris to submit to another category but you get the idea that there's always room for surprises

Of course there could be surprises, but he's the front runner right now in my opinion, and I believe he'll stay in that spot for a long while.

If From A Room, Vol. 2 comes out during the Grammy eligibility period, how does that work? Can he get 2 album nominations or would they be considered one album?

^ I'm not one to speculate but it might be a case of Justin Timberlake's last album where they are submitted as a double album. It should be interesting how it plays out although I see a situation where vol.1 is submitted this year and vol.2 next year (assuming it holds uo)

^Okay, for whatever reason I took that to mean like October or November. Maybe I just assumed so he could he be relevant for two Grammy cycles. That would make sense to me.
