HUMBLE.'s doing great on radio, I didn't expect that but I'm very happy. Song of the year, imo.

This is incredibly unrelated but I have a feeling that by some viral video or some remix hotline bling will go number 1. Maybe next week. Who knows?

Guys I just found something really intriguing... Isn't digital and streaming tracking week supposed to run from the very beginning of Friday until the very end of Thursday edt? But if that's the case, according to iTunes pop bar Malibu's released halfway thru last Thursday (May 11th) edt, and it barely racked up 12 hours of sales in the tracking week in which it just got Despacito to no.2. That's like 1/2 day, 1/14 week, 90k-120k*1/14=about 6-9k sales at most. There would be no way it debuted #22 digital songs (which's gonna require around 25k sales), and #64 hot 100.
The implication being the tracking week somehow is from the very beginning of Saturday (like, May 13th) to the very end of Friday (May 19th)? WTF? Is it some sort of bug like they notoriously did with High By the Beach?

Omg... I just realized it's entirely possible that it's another High By the beach-ish mess-up where they got US sales/worldwide sales balled up. If Malibu sold about 8k last week in US, then world wide it could be nearly 30k (if appropriate it all to the US digital chart it's indeed gonna be about #22).
Just wait that this week Malibu somehow magically rises 64->1 with some flamboyant 300k+ sales and then Billboard realizes the mistake and changes the article so that Malibu is out of top 10

Dividing the week by 1/14 isn't accurate. Anticipated songs don't sell consistently and evenly over the week like that. All of Miley's diehard fans rushed to buy it the second it hit iTunes. I imagine the bulk of its sales will be in the first couple of days...it won't be selling on Wednesday like it was during that first half day.

After the first 5 days of this tracking week Despacito gained 23% views on YouTube compared to last week's same period. Also up 23% on Radio comparing today's kworb update with the May 11th update. DAMN.

The real question is if it falls off hard after. The fact that such big hits only come once or twice a year is a testament of it's hugeness tbh. It might be more common now, but it doesn't take away from the fact that those are massive hits all the same.

^kworb had predicted 34k in sales, so that was not too crazy. Also, I remember DSD with those type of numbers early on.

It's not that special.

Passionfruit is rising fast on radio. If the streaming was like a normal drake song that isn't a big hit it'd definitely be in the top10

To some simple calculation: Last week Despacito (remix) got 80-90k sales and in 12 hours it can get 6-7k sales. In order for Malibu to sell 29k in 12 hours or whatever less than a day, then it's gonna looking to get Despacito (remix) yanked down percentage wise to 0.25 or at least stabilizing at 0.3-0.4. But no, for the first "less than a day", according to kworb that's what it looks like: 0.7 3.2 5.6 7.5 9.6 1 Miley Cyrus - Malibu 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 0.9409 0.1493 2 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - Despacito (feat. Justin Bieber) [Remix] 0.5564 0.5956 0.7075 1.0000 1.0000 it spent 3 hours getting to Despacito, and the rest 7 hours it got it down to 0.55-0.6. That's 6-8k sales at most. Now how do you guys think that 29k is even close to 6-8k? Billboard gummed up High By the Beach's number and then was conscious of the mistake because people pointed it out. You don't know what the "third parties" are. It could make mistake from time to time.

But the third party is your evidence, silly. kworb predicted 34k sales after looking at all of the data for the week, it's still up as of this writing.
