Ehhh. I'd say a lot of people forget he's an actor. He's very much known for his music as well. For me it is the other way round, found out years later that he was also a singer/rapper. Well, yeah. I knew him as an actor/writer, but my point was that it seems like a 50-59 split. He's had enough notable music that Redbone isn't notable because of his being an actor background. Target audiences already knew his music.

Not into Redbone at all. Don't get the appeal. The voice is whiny and annoying, the tempo is way too slow, the instrumentals and melody are boring. I also can't understand the meaning of the lyrics, sorry if that makes me stupid, but yeah....

People consume music and media in different ways across different demographics. There's no way studies on this, so there's no sound statistical evidence for one way or another. And measurement by top 40 hits is flawed. Personally, I'd argue that a core age group (teens and young adults) first recognized him as a rapper.

I haven't listened to the lyrics but I love his new song. Had no idea he was an actor too.

Chart-wise yes he's struggling, but not when both Because the Internet and 3005 exist, a conceptual album with that legendary GIF cover and an iconic music video for 2010's hiphop wyd

Community had a real cult/niche audience who know him from that show. He's also known for Atlanta now, though that audience possibly crosses a lot with those who already knew him as a musician. In the industry he's probably more known for his TV work since in addition to those things, he wrote for 30 Rock.

I used to think Childish Gambino and Donald Glover were different people.

And he's on the new Spiderman movie, not to mention a starring role on Han Solo's Star Wars standalone film. (And will do voice work for the live-action remake of Lion King... damn, he's getting a lot of work). I'd say right now he's just as popular as a musician, but his acting career is about to blow up big time.

I feel like Bon Appetit will click later on this year. I'm thinking of comparing Bon Appetit to Castle On The Hill because it fell hard and is kinda coming back.

I feel like Bon Appetit will click later on this year. I'm thinking of comparing Bon Appetit to Castle On The Hill because it fell hard and is kinda coming back. CotH was clearly a promo single that was aimed at AAA while SOY was for masses. It fell hard because it debuted in Top 10 (!) - it's coming back because it's being promoted to POP/HAC and has flew to Top 10 on those formats while SOY is STILL in Top 5. If a widely watched video for BA could not translate to sales/streaming, it's not being sent to radio again. If Witness has other radio friendly infectious tracks, she'll have plenty of chances to get hits. Radio's not done with KP. It would help if her streaming numbers were stronger.

I've never seen Castle On the Hill being featured in any battery commercial

I do not understand why Katy is flopping. I love her three new songs and still listen to them all. Chained To The Rhythm deserved to stick around, while Bon Appetit should just be higher. Swish Swish might get popular as a promotional single, such as Dark Horse, which was a promotional single first. I have hope for this song, let's go Swish Swish! Woot. In the case of Chained to the Rhythm it was clearly the political message that turned people off in the US. The political undertones were soooooo "under," though; I don't think most people would have caught them if the media didn't pick it up as a story. Without them it's a perfectly normal dance track.

Castle on the Hill was released to that format as well as alternative when it was released in January. It wasn't released to pop radio, though, until April. Castle actually peaked at #3 on AAA. I meant that Castle On The Hill was coming back and maybe Bon Appetit will too in the near future. Is it coming back, or is it more than it's only been pushed as a single in the past month or two? Yeah, it's that one. It was just finally pushed to pop a few months ago. It was always an official single, just never pushed to his main format in the states until recently.

Well, once the official video came out, the undertones should have become more than obvious to most people. Although, the performance at the Grammys and the Brit Awards also had that message embedded in it. The former performance coincided with the song's first week of tracking. The media did amplify them since that performance given that it was clearly directed at the Trump administration's policies.

The Cure is still hanging on, it's steady in all three categories and is gaining airplay. I hope that it'll be able to reach at least the Top 20, especially since summer is here and it's a great dance track.
Heavy got a large boost from the album release and should be able to lift into the Top 40 this week.

Are they ever gonna drop Despacito (remix) video at all? Not likely. The original video is over 1B views at this point so it doesn't really need one either. Also, minus I'm The One, Bieber hasn't done videos for his recent collabs.
