Idfc what the hell Taylor releases, nothing is topping Despacito anytime soon. With the $backing$ that Taylor Swift has behind her. I could see them releasing some sort of video, multi format radio deal, some big performance and huge promo on social media release week to try and push it to the top. I think she could hit num.1 for a week.

Kinda random, is there a link to Chartbeat chat at Billboard that shows the latest? Or is that not updated anymore?

I'm surprised radio has been the sole reason for a song - STYB - to be holding so much on the chart

Hello's first week is the biggest one I'm aware of. Humongous digital sales, pretty big streaming and #9 in Radio Songs did the trick for it.

I remember from 2015 YE predictions that Hello was already like top 85 just from first week lol Probably worth 180k points? It ended up being #35 with only 3 weeks

Well, R.I.P. one of Despacito's #1 weeks. 500k sales from Taylor, 60 million streams from Drake... It's gonna be nuts.

I was thinking that Taylor releasing her catalog to streaming might be an indication that her single is coming very very soon. Maybe, i had the same sinking feeling when she dud that, but the exact timing of that was just to fuck with katy's streaming numbers.

TS ft Drake will wait until Despacito is gone. Drake knows all too well the problem with bad release timing in terms of snatching that #1 spot

At least in Spotify, Katy's streaming for her Witness was quite underwhelming regardless last week: #52 Swish Swish and #187 Chained to the Rhythm. TS got Blank Space at #121, Shake It Off at #127, Wildest Dreams at #150, Bad Blood at #164 and Style at #170. I doubt that TS ended up affecting Katy's numbers there. I do hope TS is releasing something soon, though ...

How would Taylor releasing a 2 year old album on Spotify even bite into Katy's first week numbers? I'm pretty sure most Katy Perry fans aren't going "Hmmm... I've been waiting to stream Witness day one ever since it was announced... But I think I'll listen to all these old Taylor Swift songs instead."

Oh Rihanna potentially getting another #1 as a featured artist should elicit some heated discussions Cannot wait for the fall out. Ready for that (entertaining) mess.

The hard core katy kats will still listen to witness and most average teenage girls(both their fanbases) will listen to it. But the avarage fans won't listen to many times to witness, since after a few times they will prefer t-swift old albums. The exeption of course are the hard core swifties, who will only listen to their heroine. Witness will ofcourse be the bigger one, but it will be smaller than it would be without swift's albums relaunced.

Most people would go for Witness first, but then probably not go straight to 1989. They'd go to whatever else they were interested in. Like I said, 1989 is an old album, so surely there'd be some other favorite artist or something on the new releases page instead.
