I used to hate her artistically in the first half cause her voice was so terrible; she got better with age. But, I mean, as she got older, she also got richer, so she was able to pay for all her hit songs. I'm glad she has found a career where more of her input is going into the product. If she does release new music, she'll likely do well cause she just pays off all the trending producers/writers of the moment, anyway. And that's not me being shady, that's just recognizing her hustle. I... So basically anyone could be a superstar with a song by a trending producer/writer? That's not how it works. But to each their own.

That's not what I'm saying. Tell me how many producer credits Rihanna has on any one of her albums. And tell me how many songs she's written herself?
But it's also possible her level of contribution in her clothing/make-up lines are set-up similarly. I mean she isn't the one making these patterns, or mixing palettes. lol But it's definitely making her the most COIN!

Never got why people care so much about singers being or not being song writers? Some people are talented singers, some people are talented writers why do they/should they have to be both.
But anyway she has writing credits on just about every song she has released since Loud I believe, and is one of the most successful artists of all time so she must be doing something right.

She doesn't write or produce a single thing she's sung.

I don't think it's bad or a problem if an artist doesn't write or produce their music, but I do think it's more impressive when they do.

That's not what I'm saying. Tell me how many producer credits Rihanna has on any one of her albums. And tell me how many songs she's written herself? You can Google this information. I did. Hence why I posed the question. My thoughts on Rihanna is that because her label gets the hottest writers and producers for her tracks, she can have a bit more longevity in her career, because she brings her image to the table and that's what she sells. I'm also saying that it's likely that she hasn't released any music lately because her input to her musical career is minimal, and she likely found more of a voice in fashion and make-up. But once I thought about it again, she isn't the one making patterns and dresses, or mixing chemicals for her cosmetics, so maybe her contribution to the make-up/fashion world is as minimal as her "credits" in the music industry. And the image she brings is what is helping to drive her success here. That being the case, it's no surprise that she's sticking more to the fashion/make-up side of her career, because when you compare the two universes, her level of input in just bringing her image to the table is paying off SUBSTANTIALLY MORE than the music. I would not be mad at her if she chose to never make music again.

To be fair, I do think she has an ear for music and what’ll stick and it’s a bit unfair to take that away from her in regards to her music career. She may not directly write or be on the board pulling switches but I do believe she is present and opinionated in the studios especially as her career went on.
The same may also be said of her other ventures. Which by and large were made possible by her established music career.
I don’t know I want to give her credit and believe she brought something more than her just her image to the table

I obviously don't know what went down behind the scenes during the creation of all her albums, I just find it hard to believe that she just sailed through at the expense of her writers and producers from Rated R onwards. The three first albums? Yes, I can see that.
I'd think the reason she's more focused on her other businesses is because they seem "easier" to run. She gets way more money with a less hectic schedule. Business wise, there's not much left for her to accomplish with her music, but I have always perceived her as a woman who takes charge, not just a pretty face that sells you on someone else's vision.

Every thing Rihanna has done in her career since GGGB has been 100% her choice. To say her image is the only thing that sells her is dumb. There have been dozen of interviews from people who have been around her in creative spaces saying she takes charge and has strong ideas of what she wants to portray and create.
I promise it's okay to admit a black woman from a small island has made a mark on the world.

Rihanna brings swagger, attitude, and a very unique (and radio-friendly) tone. She’s kinda like Britney in that way. They sell the crap out of their songs, regardless of their participation in writing/producing.

From being called a one hit wonder to billionaire. I remember so many of us had written this girl off when she first hit the scene Yeah, I never knew the girl who sang "Unfaithful" would have such a successful music career, let alone become a billionaire. As successful as her non-music ventures are, I do hope she continues to make music. She still has a lot to offer and can continue to be successful in music if she wants.

I would get a kick out of time travelling back to 2005 when "Pon de Replay" was first gaining traction just to tell everyone that girl was going to be a billionaire someday.

I liked Rihanna’s music since day One. I got her debut “Music of the Sun” back in the day and liked most of it. Besides the singles I also Loved “Let Me, There’s a thug in my Life, the title track and Rush”. I also enjoyed a couple of other tracks too. Her follow up CD wasn’t bad but as a whole I may have enjoyed the debut one a little more. However “SoS, Unfaithful and Break it Off” are 3 of my favorites by her.

In the beginning a lot of us thought she was a one hit wonder in waiting, even Pon De Replay kind of lended itself to that idea at the time. For me personally, it was when Umbrella broke initially that I knew she was in for the long haul. GGGB really solidified her place.

My money was on Teairra Mari being the breakout star out of the two since they released their debuts around the same time. Me, by the time GGGB released:

To be fair to most people, her first two albums really screamed short-lived career. The first one in particular had a couple decent tracks but "Pon de Replay" was the only #moment there.

nnn, I didn't even discover Teairra Mari until after GGGB era happened, so - which isn't shocking considering I was really young then and she didn't have a MASSIVE hit like Pon De Replay/SOS/Unfaithful/GGGB-era (Make Her Feel Good peaked at #35)
"Cause a Scene" f/ Flo Rida is a BOP tho, it deserved to be a hit imo.
(And Amerie was in their performance too, I stan "1 Thing", but Pop radio was always WAY more here for Rih than for the other two)
