I don’t think people realise how incredible this is.

1) Rihanna is officially a diplomat. She now has the power to travel to other countries with diplomatic immunity.

2) She is a national hero of her own country, and is the second woman to ever be granted that title and is only one of two people currently living to be given that status.

3) Her name, whenever she is in political circles, globally, will be referred to as “The Right Honorable/Your Excellency Robyn Fenty”.

4) She’s a BILLIONAIRE with actual governmental power.

I was one of those dumb bitches too, but she technically never was.

Her debut single was blocked by the ‘Song Of The Decade’ and her second single became her second consecutive top ten Pop radio hit - the songs main format.

Honestly, Rihanna has been nothing but consistent since the beginning of her career; commercially, drawing huge parallels to Madonna and Mariah Carey’s career. The only difference is that Rihanna wasn’t fully supported by her label until post-2008, unlike the aforementioned. Nonetheless, she beat all the odds and still became:

• The Highest Selling Digital Artist of All-Time, Globally.

• The Biggest Selling Artist to Debut This Century, Globally, with only Taylor Swift being in conjunction with her.

• The Biggest Hitmaker of the Century thus far, in the U.S & Globally.

She’s been gone six years and the girls are STILL catching up. 😭

It's weird about the long wait. Like...as much as Rihanna turned into one of my faves, I don't actively miss her. When she comes back, I'll be pumped, but there's not like there isn't a plethora of good s**t being released annually to listen to in the meantime. I do hope she brings the heat though. Nothing less will do. I want 30-level slaying.

Because Teairra’s album was a solid R&B project and everything about Music of the Sun screamed novelty act/one hit wonder. We were truly bamboozled!

I’d say even A Girl Like Me didn’t seem like the type of album or era that would help keep Rihanna around. IMO, it was Umbrella and the Good Girl Gone Bad era when people realized Rihanna was here to stay. It’s also when Rihanna’s music started to feel more like her.

During the “A Girl Like Me” era, her team was still trying to sell her as the ‘Caribbean/West-Indian’ Beyoncé (image-wise), and they were only doing so because Beyonce was the most popular Black Female Pop act at the time, whilst subsequently trying to market her as Beyoncé’s sole competition that would destroy her career.

I’m so glad Rihanna took charge during the “GGGB” era.

• She fought for “Umbrella”. (‘The Dream’ knew it was a hit but Def Jam didn’t).

• She cut her hair and changed its color without any Def Jam exec’s knowledge.

• She fought to have “Disturbia” released as a single and paid for the music video herself (‘L.A Reid’ didn’t believe it was single worthy thus refused any company budget for the video. He also didn’t like “Don't Stop The Music” as a single).

“GGGB” gave Rihanna 5 top ten Hot 100 hits/7 top twenty Hot 100 hits and a 9M+ selling album WW (20M+SPS). Not to mention that the era completely dominated in the U.K/Europe and helped cement her status as a global superstar. She deserves the most credit for all of that.
