I love Rihanna so much. This was the biggest moment so far in her career and I miss her on stage. <3
To go from hearing Pon De Replay on AT40 in May 2005 to this is CRAZY! 18 years have been a wild ride.

A lot of praise has been thrown around for Rihanna's Half-Time show which, in my opinion, was only one step above the Maroon 5 nadir. That said, live music is my lifeblood, so I admittedly watch every performance fairly critically. I have seen Cardi B put on an electric performance while 9 months pregnant, in the California desert, in 100 degree heat. I have also seen Beyonce's fantastic 2011 MTV VMA performance of Love On Top, also given while pregnant. I've been a Rihanna fan since Pon De Replay premiered and I spent a stupid amount of money on her phenomenal coffee table book. That said, I have NEVER praised her for her vocals (why would I? Though, they have definitely grown stronger as her career progressed) and she is a remarkably lazy performer who, generally speaking, exudes neither passion nor joy while on stage. Going into the Halftime show, my expectations were pretty low, but I was curious. I got exactly what I expected from Rihanna yesterday - a stellar catalog of hits (even some risky ones thrown in!) performed by someone who would clearly rather focus on her billion-plus dollar empire and growing family. She's given the world 8 albums, including 3 modern-day classics. She is gorgeous and cool, in the true sense of the word. But, a performer she is not and a performance she did not give. I'm glad so many people thought it was wonderful, but I would not be me if I didn't give my full, unvarnished, honest opinion. Thanks for reading. x But what is the third classic after Anti and Rated R?

^When they said classics, I thought they meant singles and my mind went to Umbrella, Only Girl, and We Found Love.
If we’re talking albums, I’d say GGGB, Loud, and Anti are the classic albums.

The conversation about other artists' being pregnant and "performing better" than Rihanna is stale. While I do think an entertainer should be able to nail a vocal, dance routine and visual (if that's their thing), every artist ain't equal and if you don't like Rihanna, just say that!
She's been inconsistent with pitch, stamina and fluidity in her movement. We know this. Regardless, many of us still enjoy her overall or aspects of her performance.
It also feels like female performers have to reach a certain standard or they'll be torn to shreds.

That baby is cute as hell. I can understand why she is reluctant to release music, promote it and tour. But her fans will understand if she says so, at the end of the day priorities change and motherhood is surely more important than career (especially if you're a self-made billionaire like her).

I forget she's only 2 years older than me. It's crazy how much success she had before she was even 25! I can see how doing the music thing doesn't interest her as much since it was her job/career as a teen and young adult.

I had a dream last night that it was announced that Rihanna plans to release an album in 2023 (despite being pregnant again). 🤷♂️

Katy Perry gave birth within a week of Smile's release so there's no reason Rihanna couldn't do the same. Or record before giving birth, film videos a few months after and not tour.
She doesn't need to tour if she doesn't want to.

based on the excerpts I've seen, it sounds like racists got mad that they and/or their husbands got horny for Rihanna.
from the Billboard article about the complaints:
