Would've preferred "Smooth" to win, but whatever, both are great songs.

Umbrella is good but overrated on here imo. Thanks for hosting gravey! This Rankdown was a lot of fun.

Smooth: I am not kidding when I say this; Smooth is my favorite rock song of all time. I love the Latin summer vibe to this song, Santana's electric guitar is amazing, and Rob Thomas is fantastic. This is also my second favorite song of all time, and it deserves it's spot.
Umbrella: Three rankdowns it's won. I remember the flashback top 40 it won (And it was my #1 BTW) but what was the other one? All I have to say is this; Rihanna's best song is #1 again, and I love it.

Umbrella was a MOMENT. Not undeserving of the win. Smooth is epic too. I've burned out on it over the years but it's still pretty much a perfect song.

Alright the history of the leaders.
It started off with Ushers Yeah getting 3 straight number 3 ranks after me. So Yeah was winning at the start.
Umbrella ended up passing it for a bit and was leading a bit after. Then Yeah and Hey Ya both passed it and Yeah and Hey Ya were alternating between 1 and 2 for a bit (I wish that this was the top 2.)
Azs list made Yeah go to 6 and never returned to top 5 again. Since U Been Gone came near Hey Ya and then Hey Ya and Since U Been Gone started alternating between 1 and 2. Since U Been Gone went up by 74 at one point.
Hey Ya came and passed SUBG again but then it started falling and SUBG passed it again.
By this time, Smooth came up rising and went number 1 for a bit, alternating between it and SUBG. Until Umbrella came back up again and Smooth and Umbrella started alternating until eventually Umbrella won.
Smooth and Umbrella were very close, until normusics list came in, which made Umbrella go up by 100, and then it ended up being a clear winner.
Smooth was only 1 point ahead of Since U Been Gone if you did not notice.
During this whole time though, Apologize was in 3 to 5, with once being at 2, never coming in to 1.
And that folks, is how it happened.

Genuinely the one time I wanted to see a lower-ranked song win. "Smooth" still has a chance to win one of these, though. (*cough*1999rankdown*cough*)
I have no regrets about my ranking for "Umbrella", though. It's a very strong pop song and a deserving winner.

I'm getting the impression the only way 'Smooth' will get the win it deserves is in a Rob Thomas rankdown. :sip2:

Here is my honorable mention!
NO AIR - JORDIN SPARKS FT. CHRIS BROWN
PEAK: 3 (for 4 weeks)
Weeks in the Top 10: 16
Week in the Top 100: 35
This song is truly beautiful. One of my favorite songs of all time and it might have actually challenged WBT for the #1 spot. (Probably would've gotten it) How this song which was #6 in the Year-End Chart didn't make the Decade End Charts but #8, #13 and #21 of that year made it is beyond me...

I guess I'm ok with that, but I'm pissed off at the fact that Yeah and Hey Ya were in the top 2 at once.

Look how small I had to make the spreadsheet to make everything fit without having to scroll right. I even thought of saying no more lists, this is enough, lol.

It wasn't in my immediate plans, although I was thinking of allowing at least a month for submissions, in which case I should open it in the next few days.

I don't think I'll participate in the 90s one. I got other rankdowns in doing, as 2014 Urban, J Cole and Linkin Park are my priorities. But if I have time I might do it.
