YAS! My two most hated Dierks songs are now gone!
"Home" just annoys me. I hate the beat and the melody really falls flat for me.
"Come A Little Closer" is DREADFUL! I've always intensely loathed it. I hate the repetitive guitar and beat, and the song drones on and on and on. I hate the video and the lyrics too. Just everything about it is awful imo

This is another instance of "please appreciate how difficult this rankdown was for me." Even my husband commented that he was surprised this was at #13 on my list because he has beared witness to my playing this song on repeat. For days. I love it. Absolutely love it.
This was hard y'all.

lame that "Come A Little Closer" and "Riser" missed top 10 :( I love both songs, expecially the first one. "Come A Little Closer" is a great song and deserved Top 10, though since all the remaining songs are in my Top 11 minus my 24 which I think people might be upset I ranked that one kinda low I'm not really sure because I haven't really heard anyone talk about it much but I like all of the songs, still "Come A Little Closer" should have made it in over the song I have at 24!

I am so disappointed "Home" beat "Draw Me a Map." Like sick to my stomach disappointed.
And I tried to stop "Trying to Stop Your Leavin'" from leaving the top 10... I'll show myself out.

That's it for this set of reveals! I'll go through the top 10 tomorrow all the way up to #1, so make sure you're here to witness the reveal live (it's not that big of a deal as I'm making it out to be in this sentence)! I've been trying to post a song every half an hour or so for the past reveals, but I'll try to post a song every 10-20 minutes since we'll have 10 songs to get through instead of 5. Also, no more hints for any song in the top 10! I threw a couple of curveballs, but I hope my hints were alright!
Your top 10! What Was I Thinkin' Lot of Leavin' Left to Do Settle for a Slowdown Every Mile a Memory Long Trip Alone Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) Bourbon in Kentucky I Hold On Drunk on a Plane Say You Do
Some pre-top 10 reveal questions: 1) What songs are you surprised to see make the top 10? 2) What songs are you surprised to see eliminated before the top 10? 3) Any predictions as to what order the songs will be in inside the top 10?

Goodness gracious, I was in grad school when that rankdown happened and wasn't even on my back-burner. I agree with this being a shocker; it was a very big hit for Dierks and I still hear it from time to time. It's not bad, but there are simply others from that album that I prefer. At this rate though, my #1 probably won't make it to the top 10. Oh, and bboat11 , what about torches or Louisville sluggers or spears? I might even have an old textbook or two. No way on God's green earth does this radio gwm belong in someone's last place. :puke: 🎵 I took a Lousiville slugger to both headlights 🎵

I kind of can't at Drunk on a Plane being Top 10. I actually like that one, but I'm always surprised by how loved it is! It fares well in rankdowns and it is a good song, but it sounds like something straight out of Saturday Night Live.

1) What songs are you surprised to see make the top 10? Maybe "Bourbon in Kentucky" a little just because it wasn't a hit like the rest of these. Wouldn't say I'm surprised "I Hold On" made it either, but I am definitely disappointed about it. 2) What songs are you surprised to see eliminated before the top 10? "Come a Little Closer" for sure. Thought it was a Top 5 lock, lol. 3) Any predictions as to what order the songs will be in inside the top 10? Gonna take a stab at it but it'll probably be all kinds of wrong 'cause some of the prior eliminations already have me a little confused.
10. Long Trip Alone 09. Say You Do 08. I Hold On 07. Bourbon in Kentucky 06. Lot of Leavin' Left to Do 05. Drunk on a Plane 04. Every Mile a Memory 03. Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) 02. Settle for a Slowdown 01. What Was I Thinkin'

I'm going to just spoil this right now
"Long Trip Alone" is my #1, straight up. The fact even made the Top 10, is astonishing and I'm so happy it did.
I'll explain why it holds a deep meaning for me when it's revealed (because I'm amazed it made it this long)

I havent checked the board this weekend so let me catch up on this rankdown.=)
"5-1-5-0","Tip it On Back" and "Sideways" three songs on my Top10 have gone so quickly lol.
"Feel that Fire" I liked it but not love but I wouldnt rank it lower than I did.
"Where the Hell Did I Say" has gone further than I thought. "Am I the Only One?" I like this song a lot.
"Different for Girls" never has done much to me I prefer "Black".
"Home" deserved Top 10 and I love Dierks´s voice on "Riser"
I can´t believe "Drunk on a Plane" is Top10 and I am surprised I still have my #1.

"Trying to Stop Your Leaving" is really that good, especially the falsetto in the end(but he seems not able to pull it off in live ) Also disappointed that the music video is geo-locked.

I'm surprised that Say You Do is still in because I only heard it for the first time doing this rankdown - so I have no idea how it fared as a single and whether people like it or not. I was obsessed with both Drunk on a Plane and Bourbon when that album came out so I'm glad to see both in the top 10.

Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) 6. I Hold On 5. Long Trip Alone 4. Settle for a Slowdown 3. Lot of Leavin' Left to Do 2. Every Mile a Memory 1. What Was I Thinkin'

I'm glad that my #1 is still in. I'm starting to wonder if it could be a dark horse candidate for #1. (With that being said, watch it get knocked out next, lol).

1) What songs are you surprised to see make the top 10? I'm actually surprised my #1 is still in.
2) What songs are you surprised to see eliminated before the top 10? I'm mostly surprised for "Come a Little Closer." And I'm still bitter for "Draw Me a Map", but I expected it.
Top 10 Prediction: 10. Drunk on a Plane 9. I Hold On 8. Say You Do 7. Long Trip Alone 6. Bourbon in Kentucky 5. Lot of Leavin' Left to Do 4. Every Mile a Memory 3. Settle for a Slowdown 2. Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) 1. What Was I Thinkin'

A pretty big chunk of his Vevo videos seems to be geo-locked. The videos are up for a lot of his other songs on his other YouTube channel (the non-Vevo one) but this one doesn't seem to be on there :( I'm surprised that Say You Do is still in because I only heard it for the first time doing this rankdown - so I have no idea how it fared as a single and whether people like it or not. I was obsessed with both Drunk on a Plane and Bourbon when that album came out so I'm glad to see both in the top 10. It became Dierk's third #1 hit in a row from Riser (following "I Hold On" and "Drunk on a Plane"), and it seems to be pretty well-liked on Pulse (this is my observation even before I started this rankdown). I had no idea it would do this well in the rankdown though.

Never really followed charts and I stopped listening to the radio a few years ago (mostly due to poor reception in my car). I happened to see the video for "Drunk" on tv so honestly I thought that was the lead single for Riser. After browsing wiki for a minute, I did not realize "Bourbon" had been out for ~6 months before the album and was the lead single. I was really blown away when I heard "Say You Do" for the first time tbh

I'll probably use words for my predictions instead of making a list. Like most of everyone else, I am absolutely floored that "Come a Little Closer" missed the top 10. It wasn't my #1, but it gave me a little PTSD from the time my family dog got poisoned with two cups of antifreeze doused over a deer carcass less than six years ago (and the person who did it got away with it). I'm also a little surprised "Long Trip Alone" made the top 10 given how depressing the lyrics can be. It'll probably be one of the first two to go in this final round of reveals. "Bourbon in Kentucky" never stuck with me, but I see why it's praised around here; unfortunately, with radio giving it the iciest shoulder possible, I'm thinking it'll join LTA and something else (maybe one of the remaining Riser singles) as being the first out the door. I'm personally hoping that "Say You Do" outpeaks "Drunk on a Plane", but even if it doesn't, I see their ranks being right next to each other (e.g. SYD @ #8 and DOAP @ #7). I'm also gunning for a bunch of other things: - A surprise win with "Every Mile a Memory" or maybe "Settle for a Slowdown".
- My #1 to make it to the top 5.
- A top 5 consisting of strictly his 2000s singles (I'll also be okay with one Riser single in there).
May the most loved song win!!!
