This was actually released over three years ago, but peaked on the charts a little over two years ago.
Kelsea Ballerini's first released single off her self titled debut EP as well as her debut album The First Time. Initially released on July 8, 2014 through the independent label Black River Entertainment and became Kelsea's first #1 hit on Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2015, making Kelsea the first solo female to hit #1 on that chart with a debut single since Carrie Underwood in 2006 with "Jesus, Take The Wheel". It also peaked at #5 on Billboard Hot Country Songs, #45 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on Canada Country, and #61 on the Canadian Hot 100. Finished at #27 on the 2015 YE Hot Country Songs chart and #36 on the 2015 YE Hot Country Airplay Songs. It was Certified Platinum in April 2016 by RIAA. It also started a string of three consecutive #1 Country Airplay hits, with "Dibs" and "Peter Pan" following "Love Me Like You Mean It".
Personally, I wasn't too into country back in 2015, but from the first time I heard this song on accident on March 2015, I instantly loved it. It became the second highest peaking country song on my chart at that time, peaking at #23 in July 2015. Due to consistent reentries on my chart, "Love Me Like You Mean It" is also the only song that passed the 52 week mark that did not make the top 20, the highest performing non top 20 song, and one of two songs (the other being "Style") to have charted on my chart for all four school years of high school (I'll explain more about that in my chart thread). I love the playfulness and sass Kelsea has in the song, the fun melodic structure, as well as her amazing vocals, especially for a debut single. It was such a cute little jam back in summer 2015. Though this song is my least favorite of her five released songs so far and is probably my fourth least favorite Kelsea song, it's still MUCH better than much of the music out there. I guess this song made me a minor fan of Kelsea, while "Dibs" was the song that made me a major fan of her.
15/10 for me
