Following what happened to KKDM Des Moines, KKMG Colorado Springs (Number 1 in the market by far) has gotten a CHR-Rhythmic competitor, in this case Classic Rock KMOM (last among the three Classic Rock stations in the market) changes to CHR-Rhythmic "The Beat."

CHR-Rhythmic KIBT went from fourteenth (as Classic Rock) to first and 3.0 ahead of any other station, while CHR-Pop KKMG lost more than half their listeners and is in ninth with a little more than half as many listeners as KIBT. KKMG had almost five times as many listeners as KMOM (now KIBT) three months ago.

This is almost exactly what happened in LA in 1986 when Power 106 signed on and decapitated KIIS-FM in less than five years, with some help from Scott Shannon's VERY hard-rockin' 'PIRATE RADIO.'
Having the nation's first 'Smooth Jazz' station signing on in 1987 didn't help KIIS-FM keep their adults, let alone the tons of teens they lost to KPWR.
