I thought the Badlees song was decent, not great, but good enough. It only peaked at #20 on Active, lol.

Wait, Bryan Adams was still relevant in the mid-90s after Everything I Do I Do It For You? He had a handful of Top 10s right up to 1995, including All For Love, the #1 with Rod Stewart and Sting in 1994. His dropoff was kind of steep after 1995 for someone who had been having hits for over a decade. His last top 40 hit was in 1998.

Oh boy, I hate Journey. But I also hate Bryan Adams. He threatened to sue AllMusic.com unless every bit of information about him was erased. They're a reference publication. That's like suing the dictionary. They didn't have to just delete negative reviews, they can't even list basic information like his name or his albums. Rock stars have been assholes since the dawn of time, but I have never heard of an artist using their power to bully critics into erasing reviews! This offends me on a level I didn't even realize I was capable of! F uck you, Bryan Adams, you censoring dick! F uck you and fu ck all of Canada too! www.allmusic.com/album/5-classic-albums-mw0002581646that review, lmao

Next up, a rather inoffensive band with a pair of rather inoffensive songs that are definitely lower than I would have expected.

Unpopular opinion probably, but I've always thought that Bryan Adams was one of Canada's best exports, and that Cuts Like A Knife, Reckless, Into The Fire, and Waking Up The Neighbours were all very solid albums. But, after that he just became a self parody and the material plummeted in quality. I don't think I like a single song of his after the early 90s (edit: oop forgot about All For Love, I like that), and that I Wanna Be Your Underwear song is particularly vile.

Hootie has more than two songs. (For reference, they have five.) If it's truly a band with two songs...Gin Blossoms, maybe?

Well with this kind of attitude maybe he deserves to be as forgotten as he is lol. If I were Allmusic I would have been like 'why of course Mr. Adams! It is more than our pleasure to delete your existence from music history' just to be an asshole right back. Someone should wipe his Wiki page clean too, just because.

Or Blessid Union, that also works.
Don't dislike them, but so few of their songs leave that much of an impression on me.

I don't know why the hell there were so many roots-rock/AAA songs on POP radio in 1996. The first ones I heard, I gave them a break in the ranking because it was something different from the snoozy R&B and electronica. Then I dived deeper into the list and there were JUST SO MANY OF THEM.

You may be wondering to yourself, "Who the hell are Blessid Union of Souls, and why were they so popular around this time?" You may have heard of their debut single, which, even as a kid, I vividly remember being inescapable.

Never heard of that one either. I envy you. I have not been able to get "I BELIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEVE THAT LOVE IS THE ANSWER" out of my head for twenty god damn years. (Apparently forgot to include "out of my head" in the sentence above. I was tired last night, forgive me. :kii: )

I liked Blessid Union of Souls. I got their first CD Home. The singles from their second album BORED me to tears though. They pulled a Train with Hey Leonardo in 1999 and got their third and final top 10 pop hit.
