"On Your Way Home," easily. That should be a country classic.

I love all of these except the winner which I've honestly never even heard before, lol. For me I'd rank them like this: 1. Forever and For Always 2. On Your Way Home 3. This One's for the Girls 4. I'm Gone One of Patty Loveless' best and most beautiful songs is totally Grammy-worthy, but I have to give it to my favorite Shania Twain song of all time. Overall a really strong set though, imo.

It's a tie between Forever and For Always and On Your Way Home. I just think its outrageous that June won it just because she passed away

01. "On Your Way Home" 02. "Forever And For Always" 03. "I'm Gone" 04. "Keep On The Sunny Side" 05. "This One's For The Girls"
Honestly a weak year overall. Patty's is a masterpiece and Shania has one of her best vocals were the only two I think deserving of the nomination. "I'm Gone" is okay but based on her own catalogue I'm surprised it got nominated. "Keep On The Sunny Side" felt like a sympathy vote to me. While I like "This One's For The Girls" it's nowhere near Martina's best and honestly a bit of a disappointment vocally.

I agree that June won due to the sympathy vote. Patty Loveless should have had this one in the bag honestly. As much as I wanna see Martina get the win she never gets nominated for the songs that I would personally think are deserving over others. I also agree that Shania's song is definitely deserving as well, but Patty all the way

Went with "On Your Way Home" by Patty Loveless, but yet again the Grammy Country nominees are a head scratcher (even though this was a weak year overall for female vocalists).
I'd swap out the above nominees with the following:
Sara Evans - "Backseat of a Greyhound Bus" Faith Hill - "When the Lights Go Down" Patty Loveless - "On Your Way Home" Reba McEntire - "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain" (not really a fan of this song, but it was something different for Reba that stood out) Shania Twain - "Forever and For Always"
I probably would've went with Patty or Faith from that list.

Yes Sara & Faith both deserved nominations for those songs!

June Carter Cash for sentimental reasons. Otherwise, Patty Loveless, Martina McBride, or Shania Twain were deserving here.

Remember that "Keep On The Sunnyside" is part of the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack a few years prior (done by The Whites)...add that to June Carter's death in 2003 makes it at Grammy no-brainer.
