How "Three Wooden Crosses" didn't win, I'll never know?

"Brokenheartsville," with "Three Wooden Crosses" not terribly far behind.

01. "Three Wooden Crosses" 02. "Brokenheartsville" 03. "My Baby Don't Tolerate" 04. "Next Big Thing" 05. "Annabelle" 06. "She's My Kind Of Rain"
Really tight race here for me among the top 4. I can see why they went with Vince as I do think it was a great performance and felt different for him in all good ways. Ask me tomorrow and my vote may go to "Brokenheartsville" as I think it's better vocally, but Randy's hits harder in the emotions for me plus it's story is so classic sounding. Really close with those two. As for "My Baby Don't Tolerate" I surprisingly like it considering I don't usually like Lyle's music or even understand why he's considered great. (As a comparison I don't like Willie Nelson all that much but I do understand why he's popular).
No real strong feelings either way for "Annabelle"
"She's My Kind Of Rain" is easily the weakest here.

voted "Three Wooden Crosses" because Randy sells the song vocally the best out of the bunch. Not to say Joe Nichols and Vince Gill didn't do a great job because I love both of those songs as well but "Three Wooden Crosses" was such a moment for him when it was out and even now compared to those two.

Went with "Three Wooden Crosses," but the nominees should've been;
Johnny Cash - "Hurt" Vince Gill - "Niext Big Thing" Joe Nichols - "She Only Smokes When She Drinks" Randy Travis - "Three Wooden Crosses" Dwight Yoakam - "The Back of Your Hand"
The winner there should've been Johnny Cash.

Ray Benson is sort of an acquired taste....Personally I love him, but he's not for everyone.
