I'd be absolutely shocked if we don't get a new album from Faith Hill in the next couple years. She literally just signed a new deal with Sony, and it wasn't just so that she and Timmy could do a duets album (she could've done that w/o signing on with the label when her husband moved over). I'm not sure what the hold-up seems to be with the duets project and why we've heard nothing after "Speak to a Girl" underperformed, but I feel confident that both of them will have solo projects out next year or by 2019 at the latest. I certainly hope so. It's just that it's been 12 years since her last album, and she doesn't really seem concerned by that. I hope we get something though. It almost seems like my favourite artists (besides Reba and Martina) walked away at the same time - Faith, Shania, Trisha, Dixie Chicks, lol.

I had always thought that Faith's husband died in "My Wild Frontier" - I had never thought that it was her son. That makes the song even sadder.

Not too bad overall, though I hope Cry and Stronger can buck the trend and make it deep despite being from the Cry album. I will just Cry if that's not the case. Sorry! Time to start crying! Due to the back-to-back-to-back losses of "One", "Baby You Belong", and "You're Still Here", the Cry album is already down to 2 songs! "When the Lights Go Down" and "Cry" remain. Are y'all still confident in your predictions that those will do well??? I just realized "Stronger" is still on... so we have 3 "Cry" songs still on...

I admit, I am a little shocked to see this coming out already. I thought this was a fan favorite! However, I don't think I have ever heard such a huge discrepancy between the quality of a studio version versus a live version... LMAO if I had ranked the studio version I probably would have had it in my bottom 3 But I ranked the live version that she included on The Hits, and that instantly elevated it into the top 10 for me. The passion and emotion that she puts into that performance is absolutely breathtaking. I assumed that most people would rank the live version because that's the one I linked to, but I honestly don't think this song would have received as many low rankings as it did based on the live version alone...
Lol so if you haven't heard the live version yet, PLEASE check it out! It's one of the best live performances I have ever heard, by any artist! And if you did rank the live version low, it might be time to grow a pair of functional ears, or a heart that isn't made of stone

I mean, the lyric is, "While my baby lay sleeping, an angel slipped past, and with one breath said, 'I'm taking him back To his Father in Heaven'." Which definitely seems to suggest that the angel is taking the baby back to God... Especially because the baby had just been given to them, so the "taking him back" vernacular is even more poignant. At least that's my take on it!

The way she goes all the way in until her voice gives out is so powerful! It's that kind of stuff that proves to me (again and again) that you can learn technique, but there isn't anything as powerful as putting you entire soul into a performance.

I bought Faith and Breathe several years ago and really enjoyed most of the tracks on them; oddly enough, "My Wild Frontier" didn't click with me the first time or two I listened to it, but that was at least seven years ago where I looked healthier and was headin' twoards my final year of undergraduate studies. OTOH, "What's In It For Me" came on during a shuffle I did earlier this year I believe and was very impressed with it as an album opener.

LOL It's hard to be sure, since "Father in Heaven" is such commonplace Christian rhetoric referring to God, but could also refer to the baby's literal father as well... OMG we may never know!

To me, it's always been that her husband/partner died and she was left out there all alone.

Even though I'm technically a christian, I was raised with barely any religion in my life, so, as my christian knowledge is close to non-existent, I always had a very "literal" understanding of this particular line LOL

But now I am looking at the lyrics again, and you very possibly could be right! The only part that confuses me is, "I never thought I'd see the world through a child's eyes, until early December." That made me think that they had just had a kid. But now I don't know!

Yeah man, I've always thought that she had a miscarriage, and that was partly was she was so miserable and isolated out there alone. It's always interesting to have another take on a song though, haha.

I must say I did the opposite, I originally had this song ranked in my top 10 until I heard the live version on" The Hits". I could barely get through the live version , I'm not sure why because I remembered liking the song a lot more before re-listening. I think I might like it better if I was watching video and a visual, because just listening to it seemed jarring maybe just because it was different than what I expected. When she belts "cry" or any other for an extended time it makes my ears hurt a little and sounds painful almost. If I would have actually associated it with some sort of facial expression, I think that would have helped. I will have to watch a live performance to check it out.

All this epic analysis of "My Wild Frontier" and hardly any of you hoes put it in your album tracks list! It deserved to be Top 5 at least, lol. Seriously though it was the only option for #1 for me. Everything else I had to sit and think on for a few days, but I started my list with that song at the top. It gets bonus points for referencing Wichita in the first verse, too. ;) And ftr I'm in the "husband dies" camp in regards to the message of the song. I never thought of a child personally.

For some reason whenever I listen to My Wild Frontier I've pictured her having a baby and her husband dying at the end, leaving her to raise her baby on her own. I'm loving all these different interpretations though! It makes me wish it had been released along with a video (which likely would have been super sad).

RIP my top 10. I'm expecting to lose most of them before THE top 10, but the last three eliminations I thought would be safe a while longer.

Personally I find this to be a real easy-going, feel-good, summertime-type song, that I have really been jamming out to since starting this rankdown. Both this and its similar followup "Sunshine and Summertime" fall into that category, and I think I would have ranked both of them about 10 positions higher if I were to redo my list right now! I love the simplistic upbeat production. It is a very unique style for Faith, but she pulls it off well imo.

And with the first elimination from Fireflies, Faith's second album It Matters To Me is now the last album remaining intact!!! I wonder how long that will last...
Any guess for which song from IMTM will be the first to go? The options are:
It Matters To Me Someone Else's Dream Let's Go To Vegas I Can't Do That Anymore You Can't Lose Me
