Another excellent album by one of the most underrated singers in country music history.
It doesn't top Real Things, Memory, or Crickets but it's close.
Favorites:
I'd Sing About You (should've been the follow up to Hard To Be Cool) Never Gets Old We All Carry Something Hostage Billy Graham's Bible Diamonds Make Babies

This is one of the standout albums of 2017. I love how country he made baby got back as I was initially worried that this might sound out of place but so far the album is very cohesive. Favorites so far: I'd Sing About You (why this isn't the lead single is beyond me) Never Gets Old Girl in the Song Tall Boys Baby Got Back

But there's really not a song I dislike on this album

Is Diamonds Make Babies the same song from Dierks' Home album?

This album is really solid. His version of Diamonds Makes Babies seems to be missing something the Dierks/Gaskin songs had. It almost sounds like a demo. Otherwise the album is really good. The middle of the album has some radio-fluff like duds, but otherwise some great songs.
I really think "So Your Saying" should be a single. That song is both traditional and modern ( a la some of the stuff Pardi is doing). That steel at the end of the chorus is awesome, and that melody has been in my head all day.
Overall 4.5 out of 5, really good stuff.

Why did Joe include "Billy Graham's Bible" here? Don't get me wrong, it's a great song but I was just wondering why he put the same song on two straight albums.

I watched his behind the scenes for "Billy Graham's Bible" and he said it was too good not to include it here and give it a second chance at becoming a single. I don't it expect to ever be a single but I think he included it because he keeps saying this album represent the music he want to make and is passionate about.

Next single should be "Girl In A Song" followed by "Breathless" then I'd end it with "I'd Sing About You". Sadly I doubt any of these singles will see the success that "Sunny And 75" and "Yeah" did. I see this being in my top 10 if not top 5 country albums of the year! Listening to Sara Evans Words next!

This album is pretty good on first listen, but I am still disappointed that the first two singles got snipped from the final tracklisting (loved both of them, too) and that he reprised "Billy Graham's Bible" here (even though it was one of my faves on Crickets, there's really no need for it to be here and it has no business being a single imo). I must also say that I'm not loving the final studio cut of "Baby Got Back" like I'd hoped after loving when he did it live when I saw him and Sara Evans in 2014. The male voice talking during the song ruins it. Aside from those issues, solid album that is totally country and has great vocals from Joe Nichols... which was all to be expected. I'll need to give it some more plays to figure out favorites. There were also definitely better options than the title cut for a radio release, even though nothing on the record was probably going to do much more than "Freaks" or "Undone" did, if that (sadly).

As I said, this is an excellent album....but I'll say this. Baby Got Back is HORRIBLE. I love the way the music sounds, but the spoken word part by Darren Knight ruins the whole song. So obnoxious.

I got the CD in the mail. My favorites so far are.
We All Carry Something I'd Sing About You Never Gets Old So You're Saying This Side of the River
I would have liked a slow ballad from Joe.

I lost it after "Those jeans look good on you...YES!...looking good lookin' like a million dollars...you didn't go to Walmart for that haircut I can tell you right now you sure didn't!" I found this song to be clever and right up there with Joe's sly sense of humor. Loved it. This is a solid album (albeit with some filler). My favorites so far: I'd Sing About You Never Gets Old Hostage Tall Boys Still thinks she looks like a....

Joe Nichols just posted the music video for "Baby Got Back" on his Facebook today. Sir Mix-A-Lot is featured in it, "auditioning" alternate versions of the song and Joe comes out and plays the track with his band on stage to his approval.

Listen to "Diamonds Make Babies" and "Nothing on but the Radio" by Gary Allan back to back. Almost like carbon copies musically but with different lyrics

#15 country, #120 top 200 album with 5000 sold. Congratulations, Joe Nichols. Yikes those are bad numbers He only sold about 12,000 in the opening week for Crickets and it dropped two months before "Sunny and 75" hit #1. Considering he hasn't even gotten a charting single from this record yet, those numbers aren't bad at all.
