Why'd it have to be August 31st? That's Bloom's date Anyway, I've liked the singles so far. I'll listen. Cover looks HELLA awkward though.

Screaming at that cover. What is she thinking?
Meghan now seeking counsel on career development at summit with Nicole and Fergie.

They must be tripping to set the price at 12.99 (Ariana's is only 11.99)...
I need to think if I want to grab a copy of this.
I loved Thank You much more than her debut. So I have high hope for her going fully modern pop. So far "Can't Dance" and "All the Ways" are straight fire; and I mildly like "Let You Be Right" and "No Excuses" too.

She reminds me of Rumor Willis meets Brooke Hogan.

What the hell is she doing with this era. I can't believe Epic is OK with the way this is going. Where is her A&R person?

I think that's the worst album cover I've ever seen since Lotus.

Meghan and her career thus far are comparable to Debbie Gibson in certain ways. They're both young, kid-friendly, female pop singers known for writing their own songs, for starters.
Hot 100
Huge first era with 4 big hits (Meghan missed one top 10) Moderate second era with only one top 10 Disappointing third era (which was Debbie's last to score a top 40 hit)
Album Sales
First album: 3x platinum Second album: meghan platinum, debbie 2x Third album: debbie went gold, meghan may do the same
Debbie has released 6 more albums since, but only one charted in the US, and not well. It's possible Meghan could follow a similar trajectory if this new era fails to do much. Just an observation.

Interesting. You also could’ve used Cyndi Lauper as an example.

So interesting, re: Debbie Gibson.
Meghan’s timing was perfect but she just isn’t growing artistically in a cool or innovative way, at least enough to grow her audience.
That’s the thing, really: Once pop listeners “figure you out”, you gotta keep expanding your audience or you just lose people. And Meghan just hasn’t given people a reason to keep checking her out if you weren’t caught from the first era.

It's possible Meghan could follow a similar trajectory if this new era fails to do much. Just an observation. I agree with this but looking back Debbie's second album was more successful than Meghans. Debbie's second album sold 2+ million and produced a num.1 for 3 weeks hit along with songs peaking at 11 and 17. Tiffany may be a better example though I'm not sure if she wrote most of her own music though. Her 2nd album went Platinum reaching num 17 and spawned a Top 10 hit that reached num.6 and another Top 40 hit. Her third cd FLOPPED big time though. "No Excuses" by Meghan is a lot bigger than anything that came from Tiffany's or maybe even Debbie's 3rd releases. She released "Anything Is Possible" that reached num. 26 on the Hot 100 from the album with the same name that went gold and reached num. 41. After writing this maybe your right and her career is closer to Debbie's than Tiffany's so far.... lol

Interesting. You also could’ve used Cyndi Lauper as an example. Yeah, there are some similarities there as well. However, when I initially thought of my Debbie comparison, I was thinking about their young ages and how they both wrote their hit songs. And after a closer look at their album sales and single peaks, they were even more similar, so I thought I'd share my observation. Cyndi was already 30 when her debut album was released. Cyndi also didn't write some of her big hits - including Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, which was what put her on the map. Plus, Cyndi's debut album sold much more than Debbie's or Meghan's. divasummer As for Tiffany, I considered her as well (hard not to when I think of Debbie, right!?) But, aside from not writing her own songs, her stats just weren't as close to Meghan's as Debbie's were, overall.

Her debut went 4X's platinum and spawned 2 num.1's a top 10 hit and one that reached num.50. She also did the voice of a "Jetson" in a animated "Jetsons" movie. Not sure how old you are but when they both hit the scene Tiffany was bigger than Debbie. Debbie was lucky to get endorsements and a second more successful album. I'm not being confrontational btw.

I must admit that All the Ways (also known as basic bop #4, haha) is officially my favorite song from this project, then Can't Dance, LYBR, and No Excuses.
I like all four though, and I actually love the album cover! Glittery and campy. Tacky yes, but that's ok.

The title track just reignited my interest, can we talk about that bass line?! It feels like a cute little celebration. Easily my favorite along with Let you be right, and tracks 1-3 just flow effortlessly. I might actually really like this album.
SN: What's with the all caps though? I feel like she's screaming at me, and I keep thinking it's an oversight.

Can anyone explain why the release date is August 31st? There are already 5 songs released from the album. Where is the hype going to be in a month? This seems like a disastrous strategy.

I think the opposite:
Every track released makes this project seem stronger and stronger. That and LYBR needs time to build on radio. It’s a good strategy.
No Excuses with Can’t Dance and LYBR was OK. But add in All the Ways and now Treat Myself? Every release makes this look like a genuinely solid pop album.

Release the rest week by week until release week all that’s new is a bonus track?

Her team should really be putting their efforts into Let You Be Right. It’s still slowly gaining on radio and considering who Meghan’s audience is, it would be in her best interest to have a radio hit in rotation for the album release.

Noticed she's doing big things with Target for this album launch. Saw a TV ad last night using a different song.
Has this been going on? First time I saw it.
At any rate, good way to at least get a decent first week without a big hit song.
