This is a nice album. A bit bland at places but overall a nice listen. Babygirl is the obvious highlight of the album

I don't think many people are listening to it, unfortunately. And IMO, the material is just underwhelming. Nothing hits or stands out for me.

Thoughts:
Title is still my favorite album, but this album showcases the kind of maturity of an artist who firmly knows who she is. I adore Meghan (I just met her in NYC) so these thoughts are coming from a fan.
Wave: This is still a standout. Such an interesting track - Meghan said it was the only poetically written song she’s released, and it’d be fascinating to know what an album full of this direction would be.
Nice To Meet Ya: This feels like a very 7.5/8.0 bop, but still a bop, and a good radio single. Definitely the best shot at reviving her amongst the GP.
Funk: This is super fun and very catchy - but right as it goes in to explode in the chorus it pulls back - which is a deliberate stylistic choice I don’t tend to be a fan of. I just It wish it would’ve gone all out, because, why not?
Babygirl: I understand why this resonates with people, and the production is interesting, but I really didn’t care for this. Meghan is very cognizant of not writing cheesy empowerment songs, and it’s not that this song is cheesy, it’s just super expected.
Workin On It: I feel like this will eventually click with me, but because it’s so mellow, until it does, it’s not one I gravitate toward.
Ashes: Nice writing, and it’s an interesting concept for her. I’m sure this will grow on me.
Lie To Me: Ehhh, it didn’t do much for me.
Here To Stay: I like this, but she has done versions of this song that I’ve liked better (“Hopeless Romantic”).
Blink: Really fun, I know this will grow into a 8.5/9.0 bop for me.
Genetics: YES. 10/10. The PCD feature totally remedies the one issue about the original, which indeed just felt slightly empty instead of totally taking off at the end. This totally takes off at the end. Super super catchy.
Evil Twin: This is the direction I would’ve loved Meghan to include more of on the album. It’s such a funny, quirky, funky, different little song. It’s the right kind of cheesy - it knows it and doesn’t overindulge itself.
After You: Gorgeous. This did nothing for me on the solo EP and the duet has breathed life into this and made it a standout. Absolutely one of her top ballads, and, dare I say, songs. Should be a single.
Another You/Have You Now: Kind of meh, I need to listen more.
I’m someone that loved All The Ways (gorgeous and so relaxing), and Treat Myself (such a bop). So it’s disappointing to see those elements shelved.
Very sadly, the middle underwhelms me. But I really love the highs on this - definitely some of her best work to date, and the scrapped singles I enjoy can make a very solid 10-11 song EP.

I liked this a lot. I’m glad she delayed it cause this feels like a very cohesive album for me, moreso than Thank You. I never listened to her debut aside from the singles on radio, so I can’t rank all her albums.
I do like the addition of the Pussycats Dolls and AJ Mitchell to those The Love Train - EP tracks cause they added a nice boost. “Here to Stay” and “Another Opinion” are the only two songs that lag the album for me, but I think a couple more listens and they’ll grow on me.
I wouldn’t have minded if she had left off “No Excuses” or had just included it with the Target bonus tracks since it feels like a whole era ago now, but I can see if they wanted it to help with the “streaming” certification.

Just want to give a special shoutout to After You.
After You is absolutely beautiful. The duet breathes total life into a song that did nothing for me on the Love Train EP. It’s absolutely one of her best ballads. The melody and hook are so great, the vocals/harmonies are SO pretty, and the writing is mature. If the era has longevity it really should be a single, I could see it being a big hit for her.

Thank you so much! After you posted this I decided to listen to this entire set list as is and I tweaked it to tell a more cohesive story. I also added Ashes and No Excuses (which is def not a track I care too much for, but it would be weird to scrap it and it fits very well as a lead). 1. No Excuses 2. Wave (feat. Mike Sabath) 3. Ashes 4. Funk 5. Evil Twin 6. Workin On It (feat. Lennon Stella and Sasha Sloan) 7. Genetics (feat. The Pussycat Dolls) 8. Nice To Meet Ya (feat. Nicki Minaj) 9. Blink 10. Foolish 11. Let You Be Right 12. All The Ways 13. After You (feat. AJ Mitchell) 14. I’m Down 15. Treat Myself 16. Good Mornin’ (feat. Gary Trainor) This album tells the story of a woman who starts off in a rough place, both with herself and with a lover. Through self-love, she discovers she can have a proper love with someone else. - No Excuses: The album starts off in a nasty fight, with a combative Meghan being disrespected and walking away. - Wave: She feels like she’s drowning, and in a hopeless place. - Ashes: She assessed the damage and reflects on it and determines she’s not forgetting the hurt this person did to her. - Funk: She strives to have fun even though she misses her lover. - Evil Twin: She dives into self-destructive tendencies from partying away her pain. - Workin On It: Reckoning with her demons, she decides she’s going to address her problems one day at a time. - Genetics: Working on herself and working out gets to the core of what she needs to do: accept who she is at her very core. - Nice To Meet Ya: Becoming acquainted with this newfound confidence, she reflects on how far she’s come and who she’s becoming. - Blink: Finally, she has the newfound confidence to put herself out there with some swag. - Foolish: A new person with new confidence, she is forward in approaching her lover in wanting to rekindle the romance. - Let You Be Right: They quickly get into a fight, but this time Meghan tackles it differently, swallowing her pride for the sake of it. - All The Ways: But communication is a two-way street, and the two hash out their differences while affirming their love for each other. - After You: The two realize they are meant for each other. - I'm Down: They decide to commit to each other for the rest of their lives. - Treat Myself: Reflecting on how to behave differently when new challenges, Meghan espouses the need for proper self-care. - Good Mornin': With her love and love for herself, it’s the dawn of a new life of happily ever after.

This is EXACTLY why I fell in love with her. She is so ridiculously entertaining and hilarious. If gays knew how funny she was they’d like her a lot more.

Watched her Billboard Live set today and someone asked her what the next single was and she said “Don’t know. I have no idea.” Someone also asked about her shooting a video with the Pussycat Dolls and she said that’s the dream when everything is over.
I stumbled upon her family quarantine video where she bleaches her brother’s hair and it is hilarious:
Also, her performance from the Late Late Show is online:
As well as her Global Citizen set:

I went to my local Walmart today to see what CDs they had, so I went through all of the CDs that were on the shelf and I fount a copy of "Title". I grabbed a whole bunch of CDs to buy but I only was gonna spend my money on one CD. I narrowed it down to "Title". I never listened to it, even back when it was released, I LOVED IT! Best CD buy of the week!

That’s awesome!
A lot of the time now, I purchase music digitally, because it’s an instant way to support an artist; however, if it’s someone I’m a super-fan of or if I truly love an album and it’s affected my life in some way, I’ll buy it physically (instead or as well as digitally). I invest in vinyl when I believe the album will benefit from it. I don’t like having to flip a record every 3-4 songs, while a CD just runs right through. Moreover, I still buy CDs because they make up most of my collection. I did have tapes when I was really young, but when the transition to CDs happened, I switched as well. Side note, I gave a lot of my tapes away when I moved last, and I regret it. However, I didn’t give away my “Jagged Little Pill” tape though because that was my everything in high school! ☺️ I’m sure I wouldn’t play the tapes anyway, but I do miss the nostalgia of them.
