Definitely happy for Cry Pretty! It's my third favorite album of hers after CR and Storyteller. Agree- The quality of the music, the emotion and vulnerability in her vocals, and the way she speaks about the album like a family member illustrate the elevated level she gave to ‘Cry Pretty’. I do believe that, in part, it was due to her co-producing that gave her more control and responsibility (pressure) during the album production. As she is also a phenomenal songwriter, I look forward to her and the label continuing this quality combination, a liberty that very few artists are either AND are successful at it, whether it be via commercial or critical metrics. This this this!!! Cry Pretty is her best album for this very reason imo. Yes, Carrie has used her emotive vocals in the past in songs such as "Temporary Home," "Forever Changed," "Like I'll Never Love You Again," and most recently before the album "Softly & Tenderly" at the 2017 CMAs and she has used them well, but this album is something else entirely. I for one want more of it on Album 7 (something I've harped on in this thread). "Spinning Bottles"? Give me like 3 or 4 more of that pls. And the vulnerability is the best part--it's been wonderful seeing Carrie being more open and vulnerable even outside of the album. She clearly put her entire being into this album and it is a part of her; this album is hers. I also believe that's due partly to her having co-produced. David Garcia & Carrie Underwood were a powerhouse producing team and tbh I hope those are the two names I see when Album 7 comes out.

I don’t know why, but I see a lot of songs with other artists in the upcoming era. Which artists, don’t know. But it seems a lot of country artists are getting together with pop artists lately.

Back in January, following Halsey's release of "You should be sad" (which I personally classify as a country song tbh), Carrie did extend a songwriting invite to her after Halsey explained that Carrie is one of her inspirations. Halsey didn't say anything which makes me wonder if they private messaged or something like that. No I won't rest on it--I want that Carrie ft. Halsey collab on CU7.

Obligatory reminder that I'm still here for a Christmas album from her this year. She can release CU7 in 2021.

I think you’re lending a lot of credence to what appeared to be an off-hand remark. I don’t foresee a collaboration between these two materializing.

at “The Champion” being certified higher than 3 actual singles from the album. I mean, technically it is the biggest hit of the bunch... Also, it was released well before any of the singles and was a collaboration with a major Hip Hop artist. It was also used for the Super Bowl + Winter Olympics in 2018; it’s actually kinda surprising it hasn’t sold more, tbh.

I don’t think we’ll get this, but I’d be interested in a more stripped back era from Carrie on all fronts. Tone down the production, the make up, the wardrobe, etc. and really focus on her vocal abilities and natural beauty. I know a lot of this makes Carrie Carrie, but I think these changes would just be fresh and a cool change after a very glam era like Cry Pretty.

“We don’t have your number or e-mail address.” Lmao.
I hope she just ignores them. It’s not like they’re even guaranteed hitmakers at this point.

Ya know, I actually wouldn't mind her next album being a Duets album.

I never in a million years thought I'd say this but PLEASE LORD! That chorus actually does sound interesting enough and would not only hopefully (not that she needs it any longer) bring her radio momentum back up a bit, but also more importantly raise her streaming numbers dramatically. EDIT: I will say on the other hand however that they could've called Cindy Mabe or something--it did seem a bit desperate to put her on the spot in front of the entire world on Instagram. FLG (albeit on BMLG and not Capitol) and Carrie are both part of UMG so it could potentially work. I just worry about when each of their upcoming albums is out and whether she'll even be able to do it or not. Shania Twain and Bryan White are probably a prime example of what I'm getting at--it worked for the album but then Bryan couldn't promote it with her as a single because he had his own new music out.

I cannot stand FGL. But Julia Michaels doing the co-write makes me slightly intrigued.

It was also used for the Super Bowl + Winter Olympics in 2018; it’s actually kinda surprising it hasn’t sold more, tbh. It wasn't even a proper single and was released in a time when downloads are nearly extinct. I think it's sold incredibly well. GREATEST HITS: DECADE #1 Platinum January 8, 2016 SOLO ALBUM COUNTRY What are the actual sales for this one? I'm surprised it's not 2x platinum considering it's a double album.

^5/26/18 Catalog Album Sales 143. Greatest Hits: Decade #1, Carrie Underwood 888 604,273 1xP Oh wow, it's farther from 2x platinum that I thought. That's essentially 1.2 million in sales, and even with streaming for the 2 singles mixed in, it's far from 2 million. I wonder how the streaming for "HGTA" counts since most if not all of the views are from unofficial videos.

I imagine it’s a marketing technique. As in, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is already a done deal. Fingers crossed I’m wrong. Those lyrics are abysmal and the literal antithesis to what she sings/writes/talks about in interviews.

I’m here for any new Carrie music, but a duet with FGL is not the direction I’m hoping for. Carrie should be dueting with A-listers.

^This is one of the primary reasons why I don’t even want her to bother with this possible FGL collab, or with catering her material to radio anymore. It’s not worth it. Focus on streaming, sales, visuals, and tour. Cut active radio promo out of the equation.

Searched for the app and found nothing. Perhaps they took it down to retool?

Nominated for EOTY and Female Artist of the Year at the ACMs this year. Let’s see if they’ll get it right...
