Didn't the judge dismiss the disc jockey's case in the suit against Swift?

Didn't the judge dismiss the disc jockey's case in the suit against Swift? I just looked, and the judge dropped Taylor from the case. The case is still going, but she is no longer a defendant. So, she is free to promote in that sense. Assuming the label wants the lead single eligible for the Grammys, it would need to be released in the next 2-3 weeks.

I'd assume a new single on Monday perhaps, if possible. I think we all will be glued to the charts and Taylor Swift for anything for the next few weeks. Wow, this is gonna be torturous for the rest of the month if that's what case.

Didn't the judge dismiss the disc jockey's case in the suit against Swift? The case against Taylor dismissed, but not against her mother and her radio promotions manager. So Taylor isn't going to do anything. Plus, Taylor's countersuit is still active (she has option to drop it). We're getting (too much) coverage about the case here.

Hopefully, she drops the single on Friday and Wild Thoughts somehow gets to #1 this week just so Taylor doesn't block it lol

Hopefully, she drops the single on Friday and Wild Thoughts somehow gets to #1 this week just so Taylor doesn't block it lol Worst case scenario for Despacito: Sep. 9 - Taylor's new song debuts at #1. Sep. 16 - Taylor's new song holds at #1, like Shake It Off did in 2014. Sep. 23 - Wild Thoughts' hits #1 thanks to Despacito's airplay losses + Taylor's sales collapse.

I think Taylor could hold for a good amount of time. She's still a stream queen and sales won't need to be too high especially airplay is gonna be HUGE for her

I still doubt that WT will get to 1. Other songs will end up passing WT before Taylors song comes if it even doesnt debut at 1.

It is, but for how much longer? I think the label/artists behind "Despacito" made a strategic mistake in not discounting both versions of their song like the people behind "Wild Thoughts" did, because WT is now getting closer and closer to Despacito with each update and the higher version is still in the dark green. I think the point is that people shouldn't talk about a song being ahead, taking over, whatever until it actually, you know takes over. "WT" very well may end up pulling ahead of "D" in overall downloads, but why not wait until that actually happens to announce it? Ok I'm sorry this is just stupid. I get that if a song is titled My Songs Know What you Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up) or something like that then maybe you wanna use an abbreviation but now we're shortening titles to two letters and one letter? Like is there really any need for that?

I seriously don't think Taylor will release anytime in the next few weeks. These groping cases seem to be a pretty big media event, much more than I thought, and it seems to be upsetting her quite a bit and taking up a lot of her time, understandably. It also wouldn't be wise marketing-wise, there is some negative publicity associated with it, and her heart wouldn't be in all the promotion.
Any lead that WT will have over Despacito in both digital sales and airplay, if any, would be small and not enough to make up for the still substantial streaming gap. Thus, unless someone like Justin Timberlake releases a new single on Monday or something, Despacito's a lock for a 15th week.

Once the discount is lifted, the sales gain won't hold anyway

All Wild Thoughs needs is a week discounted and some luck. Even if it plummets from #1 the next week, I'd be happy with that...
With that said, Despacito is still outselling it on iTunes with all versions combined (the original getting a discount did wonders for it). I don't think #1 is gonna happen for it.

Apparently Taylor is dropping something tomorrow, according to many of you. Idk where you are all getting this information from, especially since we've had no official word from her team. So I'm guessing it's all speculation, unless she plans to pull a Beyonce and drop a surprise single.

As much as I'd love for some new Taylor, there's no way that she release music while the lawsuit is still fresh in people's minds. I say late August at best

^The Way I Are's peak + AYO Technology's debut. That was a great week! I know most people hate the song, but I loved Whistle reaching #1 in 2012. One of my favorite #1s of the decade.

I remember loving the top 10 in August last year. I only didn't like "Cheap Thrills" at the time but it grew on me a lot.

According to simmnfierzig's prediction at ATRL, whether Drake's Hot 100 consecutive week streak with a song charting seems likely to be broken, unless No Complaints re-enters this week. And Symphony's Bubbling Under limbo looks likely to continue.

I actually really enjoyed 2016, at least the latter half. Last year got a lot of shit, but I thought the music was pretty good overall.
Anyways, back to business. It looks like Unforgettable has peaked on airplay, Despacito is falling very fast, Wild Thoughts should pass it by Tuesday. Along with it's sales discount and better hold on streaming, I could see it reaching #1 next week.
