I think I'd like this song if the songs melody wasn't so butchered and sounded so awkward.

Pretty safe lead single. Certainly not a bad song by any means. This is pretty damn catchy though. Some of the lyrics are certainly relatable to a young, single guy like me especially the line about getting neurotic, but I guess it's a little weird coming from a married, 41-year-old man with kids. It sonically reminds me of something off of Crash My Party which I did enjoy. This is certainly not groundbreaking by any means, so I can't see it being remembered once the chart run is over. I assume the album will have some better stuff on it.

I only listened to the iTunes preview, but omg this just made me laugh. Like the whole thing is a parody...and I don't think it was meant that way. Productive is a mess. Maybe my opinion will change when I've heard the whole thing.....
It's like a teenager was doing the songwriting.

This song does nothing for me... It's just boring and forgetful. He released many better songs in the past and I hope this song is not representation of the whole album. I also don't like the cover photo of this single - he looks old, tired and like he was scared of something.

Seriously? So a 41 year old guy is going to be singing about wanting a women to light up his phone screen? Siiigh (praying I'm wrong, bad vibes) This has never bothered me. I love Reba and Shania.... I don't want them signing about menopause or George Strait singing a song about needing Viagra. With that said, I totally get your point, but to play devil's advocate, when artists sing about their age or what they know they get ripped on too. (Does FGL sing anything but party songs? Can Thomas Rhett sing a song that is not about his wife?).

Whatever it sounds like, I hope it gets bought and streamed enough, and radio plays it enough to take down "Body Like A Backroad".

Wow this is bad. I'm sure I'll come around a bit but on first listen there is nothing here. Possibly the worst single he's ever released. Say what you want about songs like "Country Girl" and "Move" but at least those had some intricacies in the melody or instruments.
This sounds like it should be a bonus track from the deluxe version of the Crash My Party album. Why do artists feel the need to be so edgy with their lead singles? We saw it from Dierks, Jason, and Blake.
It seems every time I stand up for Luke he never fails to make me look like an idiot.

I mean, its a decent song and its pretty catchy. I enjoyed the first listen, and agree with the sentiment that it sounds like a lost song from the Crash My Party album. Does seem like an odd choice for a lead single though, as it doesn't really stand out. This feels more like a 4th or 5th single you toss out because you know its guaranteed to get radio play. Have to think there are stronger choices.

But no I don't think Reba and Shania need to sing about menopause, but life should give you experience that you can use in your songs. Love, hard times, even partying on the lake - we all still do it even at higher ages. But the vernacular and lyrics of this song sound like it was written by a teenager.

Home Alone Tonight 2.0.......This guy is 41, married, with kids. Why's he worried about a girl lighting his phone up? So weird that he chooses songs like this.

This is much better than "Kick The Dust Up." But it is still pretty awful. It sounds like every other Luke Bryan song meshed with Dirt Road Anthem.

This is just unacceptable for him imo. It's so underwhelming and he passed on some great stuff to release this pile of crap.

I'd be lying if I said I was expecting a good song but I was hoping and this sucks. Just when I thought Luke might be returning to his roots he releases this.

At least Home Alone Tonight was catchy and the tech references weren't rampant throughout the song (if I remember correctly). Not that a 40+ year old father can't sing about his phone, but these songs just come off as cheap and pandering. Surely a man who's traveled the world, had kids, huge loss and tragedy, a long marriage, and plenty of life experience can put out product with a bit more substance... Are we supposed to believe a mature adult, married with kids, who likely gets to bed by midnight after working all day as well as raising a family, is pacing his house, unable to sleep because he wants a rando he hooked up with to text him a selfie?

Yeah, I don't see myself rooting for this. Not interesting in the least, and just more of the same. Come on Luke!

I guess it's kind of hard for him to change his sound or better yet 'grow up' when radio keeps sending EVERYTHING he releases to no1

I dont mind if Luke sings for his wife like on "To the Moon and Back" because I think it would suit him more than these lyrics that sound weird for me and I cant relate him to what he is singing. I didnt think the song is boring but not so powerful as a lead single from him should be and I believe this song would sound better if Old Dominion had cut it...it sounds more them so it doesnt surprise me that Brad had written it.

I love this. It's a little short, but radio will definitely be eating this up.

I agree radio will eat it up. It eats up everything Luke Bryan, good and bad. This isn't horrible, not great. i think it will be highly relatable to radio audience and I like the attempt to make the lyrics more contemporary. But sometimes the lyrics seem a little crammed into the song (for lack of a better description) and the tune is just meh. I agree that it is a curious lead, but might grow on me after more listens. I am willing to give it a chance.

If I had to compare it to any of his prior six singles, it would be "Home Alone Tonight." Pretty much everything from the production to the aura to the vocal delivery to the subject matter is in line with that song. To me, that's strange. Would anyone disagree if I said "Home Alone Tonight" was the least popular single of the last album era? It's hard to judge when the era goes six deep since the beginning songs will always be more commercially successful. I just felt the least amount of passion about that one industry-wide. Maybe it could have been "Move" as well.

Home Alone Tonight was one of my 2 favorite singles released. One of my top 3 from the whole album. This for me is Home Alone Tonight meets Crash My Party.

This is equally as reprehensible and juvenile as the worst top two singles in country radio history; 'Get Me Some Of That' and 'This Is How We Roll', and I stated as such when those two pieces of musical cow dung peaked a few years ago, and that egregious Thomas Rhett trash in particular.
I bailed on this disaster before the first verse was done, but since he's a sacred cow in the format as are TR, Sam Hunt & FGL for no REMOTELY intelligent reason, radio will eat it up, which is an utterly moronic strategy in the face of declining ratings.

Okay, this isn't that bad. I'd prefer something a lot less poppy (c'mon, really? that beat is obnoxious and unnecessary), but lyrically its more developed than "Home Alone Tonight" at least and it's somewhat catchy and MUCH less obnoxious than a lot of his other trash. I'd take this over any of the singles off his last album except "Fast", but that's not saying much. I'm hoping he brings better material with this next album, but I'm not hating this like I expected to.

Luke seems like a very mature family man, but his music is just so immature most of the time. This sounds like something a guy in his early twenties should be singing, not a 41 year old man.

Not sure what's worse, a 40-year old married dad singing about some girl lighting up his phone, or Dustin Lynch acting like he has an ounce of country left in him.

This is hilariously bad. Like, this is honestly one of the most mediocre things he's put out to radio yet. The tragic lyrics and butchered mess of a melody (especially in the verses) are inexcusable. I can't believe that this is the best the guy could come up with for a lead single to country radio. What a joke. I hate that this is going to be another easy hit for him, too.
