She is bigger than better than ever? Maybe physically speaking, yes. Honestly, I don't think anyone can name one of her Top 10 hits in the past five-ten years. Oh well, maybe she can contact Train so she can scrape Top 30. Would be nice. Ah okay, so this is really all you got. Have fun! After a few spins, I'm still not quite sure where I land on this. I only listened whilst watching the lyric video, which really helps sell it. On its own, the criticisms come more to the forefront...that this is still the "I'm the wronged party" POV, the lyrics are weak af, that shouty second verse isn't getting any better, there is something kinda flat about it... ...but I still kinda like it, I think? In spite of itself? If she wasn't going to embrace her Regina self, at least she took things in a darker direction, and the samples really work. I feel like it will grow on me more (though it could easily go the opposite direction), and this will be big for her, but I think she needed to be exactly as popular as she is to make this a hit.

This is pretty bad in my honest opinion. The production seems more like a catchy jingle for a commercial than a big pop single, and the singing is just weird. Her pop singles have been very hit or miss for me - I loved "Style" and though "Blank Space" was pretty good, but "Shake It Off" is one of the most annoying songs I've ever heard. This one isn't annoying, but its just not good. It'll do fine because it has Taylor's name attached to it, but I don't think it would be popular if any non big name artist released this. Still longing for her to go back to country music, when she was at her best.To each their own, naturally, but I'm the complete opposite. Outside of 2-3 of her country releases, I couldn't *stand* Taylor as a country artist and hope she never comes back to the genre.

Beyonce pays pop radio dust and she's bigger (and better) than ever. The latter is true however Beyoncé only pays pop radio dust because pop radio couldn’t be bothered to give her any more pop hits. That is fact. Anyways, I am glad this is smashing so far. TaylorNation hitting promo hard with ESPN, ABC’s TGIT spot, and the video coming while Katy hosts the VMAs. I want to know when she’ll debut this song on live tv.

Beyonce can get a pop hit if she really wants to.

That is fact. It...isn't tho. The pop singles from IASF were all hits, and then she came out with 4, which was decidedly not designed for radio, especially pop radio. She dumped CHR, not the other way around. If this revisionist history is done, we can return to the topic at hand.

If this revisionist history is done, we can return to the topic at hand. Best Thing i Never Had was a typical pop Becky ballad and flopped to oblivion. THAT TERRIBLE SONG DOESN'T COUNT. At best it's an asterisk to what I said. 4 was still not here for pop radio, as evidenced by even that song going top five on rhythmic.

She is bigger than better than ever? Maybe physically speaking, yes. Mature. Yeah because surely Train (who?) is what Beyonce strives for as she racks up one Urban smash after another, rack ups Grammy after Grammy, and breaks all all-time Instagram record... twice in one year. When will Train? :'(

I can't wait to hear people remix this song. It has the potential to have some incredible remixes (that might make the chorus less polarizing).

Hey, don't count Beyoncé out yet! Maybe she can make late-career pop comeback a la Tina Turner. You never know!
On topic: this song sucks!

All I hear when I listen to the chorus now is Will.i.am in "Meet Me Halfway." When he's like "I spent my time just thinking thinking thinking bout you. Every single day yes, I'm really missin' missin' you"
So now I'm listening to "Meet Me Halfway." Dammit.

That cultural tsunami must have missed the Top 20. Yanni still sells out stadiums too. Outside of diehard beyonce fans, a lot of people think she quit, most kids consider her an AC artist. Would be nice if she could make a hit again, but again, irrelevant to radio. Maybe she should call up Ne-Yo or something. #SMH It sounds like you live under a rock. Someone's misinformed as Drunk In love peaked at #2 and Formation peaked at #10...that was definitely without payola lol

I like this a lot. I can totally hear all the Britney/I'm To Sexy and I thought of Meghan Trainor comparisons here. I may be in the minority here but I love when the chorus kicks in. It makes me want to jam. lol. To me the verses aren't as good as the chorus and pre chorus. I guess the chorus isn't built on just her lyrics and melody but it's built more on the beat. Maybe that's why some people may not like it or think it's not Taylor enough. I'll be jamming to this for a bit.

Meanwhile no one even knows what the Chainsmokers look like. But cool for them to get those #1s! LOL. I had to Image search them on Google after reading this. I had literally zero idea.

Problem is the song doesn't fit with her "wholesome known image"

As much as I can't stand Taylor as a person, her music always did it for me... until now. I can't see myself listening to this a second time. The production is extremely heavy, but there's almost no melody as a whole. Not my cup of tea, besides the pre-chorus. The pre-chorus is amazing.

Beyoncé had the third best selling album of the year, massive critical acclaim, caused a pop culture tsunami, won Grammy's and had a sold out stadium world tour. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato's grandmother forgot to call her on her birthday. Try again. #SMH Meanwhile I am sitting across from a thirteen year old whose entire middle school knows all the words to Sorry and Formation... and Beyonce songs were the background to half the talent show dances last year. She's not close to irrelevant. Only if you live and die by pop radio I guess... but I digress. I listed to this twice more and I still hate the chorus. I love it up until that part, and then I lose all interest in the song.

So the video premieres during VMAs... which are hosted by Katy Perry? Awkward...! Hilarious!
